Who are Hill-Hill's supporters
Well in the end, Obama's tight as before and as for Hill-Hill, well...look-a-here.
Miss Donna, Tell them like it is
Sex is Fun, Classic, and Big
Sex and the City was a very good movie. It was like watching the show again, only that it was 2 hours instead of 30 minutes. The girls looked great and the story was fun, sad, and classic SATC. The clothes were cute, but it was good to see the story to be as strong as the fashion.
I feared that it would be all fashion and no substance, but I was wrong. I felt the story and I felt the girls' emotions. These are fine actresses. The reason why this show was a powerhouse is because of their work. It was never about how hot they are or the sexy men, well not completely. Their work built that loyalty and fan fair. All of these fake NYC, 3 to 4 women, rich teens shows don't get it and never will. Until they know how to act, the shows will not reach SATC status. So writers take a lesson from them: great story, great acting, less hype.
So I say, see this movie. It's fun and a great love letter to the fans. I will probably see this movie again.

Gay Horror is Dead
Gay Horror Movies? Is there such a thing? It is, but it is a horror within itself. These movies suck and I mean suck. I've seen some of them and thought, why, how, who, what for, and what. The storylines are from 25 cent porn books in hidden drug stores. After more sad viewing, I'm still lost for words. Now, there were a few semi-good ones, but I kept running into the same problem. A lot of skin, less substance.
I feel that they are trying to mix porn and horror, and it just ain't working. My first example is Hellbent, probably the worst horror movie I've ever seen. The main problem for me was the over focus on hot guys and sex, then as a side note, horror was added. Then you have here!'s garbage bend dramas Dante's Cove and the The Lair...lordy-lord! Those...whatever, are way beyond silly.
Most of decent gay horror are in the books, but I hope for better movies. Gay horror movies should not
- focus of the hotness of the men, I want screams and thrills.
- porn is porn and horror is horror. Do not mix!
- uses the vamps. Leave the vampires alone...Anne Rice really created a monster.
- tell a dumb story.
Are we scary people?
Are we really something to be frightened about? Usually a day doesn’t go by without hearing how we (the gays) are ruining the world. We caused Katrina, we are destroying the family structure, we bringing Hell on earth, we are bringing the stock markets down…we’re just doing it all.
If an alien came here and heard all of the horrible things gay people were doing and causing, they would think we were supreme beings. Sometimes, I think we are mutants by the way we are treated. But really, if we had that much power do you think we would destroy everything? I think not, I like to think we would erase the hate, ignorance, and foolishness from everyone. We would make life easier for those to come out and be accepted. We could get rid of the self-doubt and mess in our lives. And we may make the world a better place (wishful thinking).
But I still wonder why we are the bad ones? Since Cali allows gay marriage, I heard some horrible statements from people whom suppose to be peaceful and forgiving. I mean, I’ve heard and read things before, but it seems like nothing’s changed. It’s like when we win, it feels like we lose. I’m not sure if some people are getting any closer to opening their minds, regardless of the law or Bravo TV shows.
I can think of other things we should be aware of and other people we should be worried about. There’s poverty, war, education, social problems that should be a higher priority in our world. The last time I check, we just want to love, live, and party in the craziest of ways. Just like everyone else, but when we become purple people eaters, then you should worry.

When it gets worst, count on Michael Bay
So this is some crap I heard today.
Straight from the Hollywood Reporter:
David Berenbaum and Michael Bay's Platinum Dunes have been brought on deck to bring Hasbro's supernatural game "Ouija Board" to the big screen. The project is set up at Universal, where Hasbro has a six-year strategic partnership. Platinum Dunes' Bay, Andrew Form and Brad Fuller will produce "Ouija" along with Hasbro. Although the specific log line for the film is being kept under wraps, the film will be a supernatural adventure with the Ouija board playing an integral part of the story. The movie is not taking a "Jumanji"-like approach, which involved a game coming to life.
What? Again...What? Platinum Dunes is a terrorist's plot. It has to be. Who would do something like this? Oh I know, Platinum Dunes. This is foolishness! In fact this type of movie has already been done...Witchboard with Tawny Kitaen.
The Phoenix will fly again!
There are girl groups and then, there's Labelle!
Labelle!!!!
The only true girl group!
Labelle is back!
Patti Labelle, Nona Hendryx, and Sarah Dash, R&B's most original and fabulous trio are reuniting by Verve Records to deliver their first full-length studio album in more than 33 years.
This is amazing! This group is...I can't explain it. The power and passion of their voices is beyond anything we have now. I've always been a fan of them separately, especially Patti. This news is the highlight of my month!
The Kibosh
Well, well Miss Pelosi said that Hill-Hill’s plan to “fight city hall” isn’t going to happen.
In the San Francisco Chronicle, she said she is prepared to "step in" if the presidential race does not resolve itself by the end of next month.
*******************************************************
"I will step in," Pelosi told the paper. "Because we cannot take this fight to the convention…It must be over before then."
Pelosi, who will serve as chair of the convention, has largely stayed on the sidelines during her party's prolonged primary race. But the House Speaker has said Democratic superdelegates should not overturn the pledged delegate winner, and has warned of irreparable harm if they do so. Barack Obama officially won the majority of pledged delegates in last Tuesday's primary contests, though it's been clear for several weeks Clinton could not overtake him in that category.
Pelosi also indicated she opposes the Clinton campaign's desire that both Florida and Michigan's delegations be fully seated at the convention. The party stripped both states of their entire delegations last year after they moved their presidential primaries early than they should.
************************************************************************************
She believes the two states should be seated in some way, but said only "in a way that is not destructive to any sense of order in the party."
"If you have no order and no discipline in terms of party rules, people will be having their primary in the year before the presidential election," she said. "So there has to be some penalty."
Some maybe is the message of the week for Hillary. I mean, I love Hillary, but the madness has to end. This election is too precious to waste on malarkey.
Today, in Hillary's World
Hillary, Hillary, Hillary! As the nomination comes to a close, Hill-Hill is pulling something from her sleeve. She is hoping to get the delegates from Michigan and Florida seated. Not because she wants every vote to count, but to pull her up in the race to the White House. According the reports, she won the primaries in both states. But the thing is all candidates initially agreed not to campaign in either state after they broke party rules.
The Rules? Well, Florida and Michigan broke ranks and held primaries earlier than party rules allowed. As punishment, both state parties were told that they would not be represented at all when the party officially nominates a presidential candidate at the August convention in Denver, Colorado.
Some candidates took their names off the ballots, but Hillary kept hers on list. She’s been silent about the troubled states, until now. She wants them to count, she needs them to count. But if she isn’t careful, the delegates could send Obama over the edge and straight to the Dems main seat. Also, she should be aware of the message she’s sending.
Acting all bratty and foolish could turn people away from her. She already showing her claws and the fight hasn’t even begun. She isn’t the Hillary I grew up with; this is a dark Hill-Hill, almost like Nellie Oleson from Little House on the Prairie. You can say she isn’t wrong, but it just seems so desperate, and foretelling of her leadership style.
Sorry Hill-Hill, but you just need to sit down and learn from your mistakes.

Have we seen this before
This week my favorite network, CW, revealed their Sunday night shows. One in particular is Valentine, Inc., which will air at 8 p.m., is based on a feature spec script that Kevin Murphy is adapting for the smallscreen. Murphy helped create Reaper, the not -so-hot hell-like boy show.
Valentine, Inc. is high-concept romantic comedy centers on the premise that the Greek gods live among us, and that Aphrodite and son Eros are running a matchmaking business.
Wow, I've never heard of that before, wait...lets go back a few years.
1998-Cupid: This is the story of a man who claims to be Cupid sent to Earth as a punishment. To earn his place back on Mount Olympus, he must reunite a hundred couples without the use of magic. He has been stripped of his powers and has become a normal human being for the length of his stay among us. Because of his claims, Trevor is thought to be delusional and placed under psychology study.
A little different, but not really...I'm telling you, I feel like creativity is a rare gift these days.
Scotty Mac is a tattle-tale
Former White House Press Secretary Scott "Baby Bubba" McClellan's new memoir is putting the White House out on front street.
He says that President Bush relied on an aggressive "political propaganda campaign" instead of the truth to sell the Iraq war, and that the decision to invade pushed Bush's presidency "terribly off course.' And there's more, he says that, "In the permanent campaign era, it was all about manipulating sources of public opinion to the president's advantage."
Then he talks about Katrina and mess that happened there:
“We spent most of the first week in a state of denial. The tendency to shift responsibility and minimize unpleasant realities is a part of human nature that has to be kept in check. It was not,” he writes.
After so many crises, he explains, “we were probably a little numb (“What, another tragedy?”) and perhaps a little complacent (“We’ve been through this before.”)”. He writes that “We took a chance that Katrina would not be as unmanageable, overwhelming or catastrophic as it turned out.”
Of course the White House is spinning it, calling Scott disgruntled and unprofessional...but is that the pot calling the kettle black?
I appreciate that McClellan is finally telling the inside story, but I wish he would've done this while he was in the White House. I think it would have strengthen his street cred. and his patriotism. However, I wonder if he's really telling the truth. I swear these memoirs can make matters worst and turn people completely off from the message in the story. I hope this book is the truth and I hope more people see why we can't fool around again with the election.

Ash is going to dance and sing!
First Xanadu and now, more musical greatness. The master of all demon movies, Evil Dead is not only a musical, but it's coming to Cali-cal. It started production in Toronto in May 1, 2007 with the run extended from June 23, 2007 to August 4, 2007. Now, it's starting up in the Campbell Theatre in Martinez, CA on June 13, 2008.
It should be fun, even if it's bad.
The girls are back in town...or on the big screen
I am looking forward to the Sex and the City this weekend. My friend from Tempe is coming here to celebrate the Hollywood premier, or the Arclight showing. There's something about his show that's really special. I don't know if it's the cast or NYC, however it's a one of a kind series.
So I can't wait to see what my girls have been up to for the past 5 years. Now only if Buffy could come back on the big screen.
Gay Pride: Our right to fight, or our right to party
So what does Gay Pride really mean? When I attended NYC's Pride, I remember the parades, parties, overcrowded streets of Christopher and Chelsea. In Phoenix, there was a small parade and booths showcasing art, condoms, porn stars and leather. But I honestly couldn't tell you what we were celebrating.
Pride is suppose to be a reflection of the oppressive days and a celebration of a prosperous future for equality and change. However, I see more go-go boys marching towards the bar than to freedom. Anytime I pick up a mini-mag or flyer, there's some half naked guy telling to me to celebrate pride weekend. And although the guy may be cute, I wonder if we lost the real reason for the "gay" season.
I feel that battle at Stonewall is reduced to $2 drinks and a lap dance with your favorite amateur website star? I hope not, I hope there's more with Gay Pride than partying, too many people lost so much for us. We should take a minute to remember that. I'm not saying that we shouldn't party, I just wish I knew about others things. Like, the history of Stonewall? Who organized the first Pride gathering? What was the purpose of the first organizers? Sure, I can google the info, but I think it's imperative that we all know our history. It would give us a stronger reason to march down those glittery streets.

Attack of the 1001 foot She Mess
BET, CW, now E! is on my foolishness list. They are lost for taste putting She-Mess, Dina Lohan on TV. She doesn't need TV, she needs help! What is wrong with this woman? She is a horror among mothers in the world.
She is a mistake to her kids, so greedy and selfish. It's a shame, really. But I'm not surprised, she from Long Island. No offense.
The Season, The Witch, and The polka dots
I just saw an interesting Bewitched episode. Something about it was cute and special in its own way. Here's a quick overview:
Sisters at Heart-Bewitched
Darrin's friends, Keith and Dorothy Wilson who happen to be black, invite their daughter Lisa to stay with Tabitha on Christmas Eve while they go away. Lisa and Tabitha want to be sisters because they get along so well with each other, but are discouraged when someone tells them that they can't be because Lisa is black and Tabitha is white. Of course, this gets out of hand when Darrin's newest client, Mr. Brockaway, visits his home. Lisa is asked to answer the door, and Brockaway gets a shock when he sees her, thinking that she is the Stephens' child! He turns Darrin down because of his bigotry. Tabitha lets Lisa in on her witchcraft and uses wishcraft to blink polka dots on both her and Lisa. Samantha then tells them that they don't have to look the same to be sisters because they are sisters at heart. Then, after a well-deserved lesson from Samantha, Mr. Brockaway admits that he is a racist and wants Darrin to handle his account as his apology.I never knew Samantha had it in her. But since she's a witch and non-human, I guess racism is a moot issue.
Don't worry y'all, it will be okay
Dollhouse, Joss Whedon's new show is truly a big gift to the fans. But some of them are already thinking wayyy ahead to save the show from Fox's foolishness. After the way Fox treated the cult space-western, Firefly, fans are worried it could happen again.
So to prevent future cancellations, DollhouseForums.com, an online campaign group encorages followers to set up viewing parties, watch the trailers online, buy Dollhouse stuff and create more fan sites in its honor.
According to Wiki, Dollhouse is about a young woman named Echo, a member of a group of people known as "Actives" or "Dolls" who volunteered for the work in the Dollhouse. They give up five years of their lives, and at the end they receive a large sum of money and no memory of anything they did for the Dollhouse. The Dolls have had their personalities wiped clean so they can be imprinted with any number of new personas, including memory, muscle memory, skills, and language, for different assignments. They're then hired out for particular jobs, crimes, fantasies, and occasional good deeds. On missions, Actives are monitored internally (and remotely) by Handlers. In between tasks, they are mind-wiped into a child-like state and live in a futuristic house , a hidden facility nicknamed "The Dollhouse". The story follows Echo, who begins, in her mind-wiped state, to become self-aware.
Also there's a facebook for the show as well. They have over 1500 members. Man, talk about loyalty to the Joss. Well, he is the Man. God. Geek Mega.

Don't call it a sequel...maybe a comeback
So after seeing this pic, I couldn't help but to think about The Bodyguard. This was my coming of age movie, believe it or not.
It was my Freshmen year in college. When the soundtrack came out, the rest of my friends followed suit. The soundtrack was a bonding point for my friends and I. Screeching I Have Nothing, Run To You, and I'm Every Woman was how I got to know my friends, silly I know, but it's true.
Now when I see this pic, I wonder about the possibilities. Could a sequel be in sight, or a remake? Whitney looks great and Kevin don't look so bad either.
Calling America out one issue at a time
Coming out next week is a interesting new documentary. It's called, Bigger, Stronger, Faster, and it's a look at America's love affair with steroids. The film kicks off with a montage of the mego stars of the 1980s, like Hulk Hogan, Arnold Schwarzenegger and others.
According to EW, Christopher Bell, the director of Bigger, Stronger, Faster, lets us know how much they meant to him as a kid. Of course, two of them have since admitted to using anabolic steroids — i.e., synthetic testosterone. This should interesting, given the issues with our sport stars. I wonder if this will kick off more docs that look closely at our culture. It's time to start owning up to the madness we call the land of free, home the brave.

I wonder...
I haven't done this in a while, but here's a list of my thoughts.
- The only celeb mother who should have a reality show is Raven-Symone's mom. She has managed her daughter's career over 20 years and we still don't know her name or what she looks like.
- If superheroes were real, would they make up a different social class?
- Do the "special" people in the South and Midwest realize the rest of the world thinks they're stupid?
- And why do they hate educated people?
- Why do we gays support the celebs no one else cares about?
- Now that we can get married in Cali-cal, how long will it be before it's as trendy as West Hollywood?
- If more of our kids were like Huey Freeman from The Boondocks, maybe we would have a future to look forward to.
- Will the Sex and the City movie finally convince Sarah Michelle Gellar to do a Buffy movie.
- Since there is another Hulk movie, X-Men 3 should have a do-over.
- Should Marvel make an animated Phoenix/Dark Phoenix X-Men movie?
- Why is Cher touring again?
- If I'm the only who thinks Jason Segel is cute?
- Who will be Obama's running mate?
- Why do people need to be drunk to socialize?
- If there will be another Grindhouse.
- If CW network collapses, will they finally bring in fresh ideas?
- If L.A. Pride will be as good as New York City's Pride?
Noah's Arc lied!
Since I've been in L.A., I have yet to see a vibrant Black gay community. We have a couple of clubs, but I haven't seen anything else. Before I moved here, I heard great things about L.A. And after watching Noah's Arc, I hoped to see a strong community of color. Well, that hasn't happened yet.
I've been to the club, Catch One, and to a celebration of black queens, which no one showed up. I haven't heard or seen much from the gays of color. I know they're here, but where? I haven't given up, but goodness, where's the party? Besides the clubs and West Hollywood. There's got to be a ball, poetry group, book club, or a Black writers society somewhere in this seedy town.
Last Diva Standing
The charts don't lie. Right now, the only female staying strong in the music biz is Leona Lewis. Regardless of the hype Janet/Mariah/Moo-donna put forth, its nothing compared to Leona. She has managed to rise above them in the charts, placing her at no. 5. Actually she moved up and passed her "mentors". I guess talent is making a comeback.
Go Leona!!
Indy, Indy, Indy
Last night we saw the Indiana Jones movie, which was cute, but not as great as Iron Man. However the story was good and there was references to the other Indy movies. It was good to see Karen Allen again, I always liked her. And Shia...he's growing on me. As he gets older, he's getting better with his acting.
My only thing that was bothersome was Miss Cate, the actress of a 1000 faces. I like her, she's excellent, but her role was a bit stereotypical and almost cartoonish. In fact, she was the living embodiment of Natasha Fatale from Rocky and Bullwinkle. But in all it was a cute movie, I just wish Short Round came back.

How to be a Gay Icon: step one: Get outed!
I've noticed that gay celebs are coming out. And I also noticed that some of them are forced out by some blogger, arrest, or news group. So I wonder, would these guys came out if they wasn't forced to do so? Maybe...in a few years? However once they are out here, they got a story to tell and sometimes for a profit.
Or they ended up on the cover of the Advocate.
I'm not sure what to really think about this. Sometimes I'm cool with it and other times I'm not. We should support them, they are our people. But at the same time, if they remained closeted would they still speak out for us?
A legend
Today on Rodeo Drive, I saw Stan Lee! I saw Stan Lee in Beverly Hills. I should have said something, but I didn't. I didn't want to bother him.
Maybe next time.
Tasty bread?
So if you were in Thailand, and you wanted some bread for a sandwich. Check out Kittiwat Unarrom's family bakery. He makes bread in the shape of body parts.
According to investorspot.com, he started using his skills and made sculptures out of bread. This came naturally to him because his family runs a bakery. The bread is made out of dough, cashews and chocolate. He just adds his own touch to the finished product. If you want to see more go to this site.

Another classic horror pic from JOSHUA
They are smarter than I thought
John "The Duke" McCain let his madcap preacher, John Hagee go.
The original G.I. Joe rejected the endorsement after CNN brought to his attention Hagee's comments that Adolf Hitler had been fulfilling God's will by hastening the desire of Jews to return to Israel in accordance with biblical prophecy.
McCain said, "Obviously, I find these remarks and others deeply offensive and indefensible, and I repudiate them. I did not know of them before Rev. Hagee's endorsement, and I feel I must reject his endorsement as well."
Then, as a surprise response Hagee said,
"I am tired of these baseless attacks and fear that they have become a distraction in what should be a national debate about important issues. I have therefore decided to withdraw my endorsement of Sen. McCain for president effective today, and to remove myself from any active role in the 2008 campaign," he said in a statement.
"I hope that the Sen. McCain will accept this withdrawal so that he may focus on the issues that are most important to America and the world."
See, that's class...I think. Perhaps Rev. Crazy Train Wright could take a lesson from him.End of the Bush era begins here
The House Judiciary Committee subpoenaed President Bush's former chief political adviser and mastermind of malice, Karl Rove, to testify about whether the White House improperly screw with the Justice Department.
It's unclear if Rove will to testify. The White House refuses to let him or other top aides testify about private conversations with Bush, claiming executive privilege to block Congress' demands.
The subpoena orders Rove to appear before the House panel on July 10. Lawmakers want to ask him about the White House's role in firing nine U.S. attorneys in 2006 and the prosecution of former Gov. Don Siegelman of Alabama.
All I can say is, it's about time. Good luck handling this man.
More from Terrance Dean's Secret Invasion of the gay hip hoppers
So in Time.com, Terrance Dean, the author of Hiding in Hip Hop On the Down Low in the Entertainment Industry — from Music to Hollywood was interviewed about his book. Here are some highlights.
*************************************************************************************
Where do you keep your list of names and corresponding fake names?
[Laughs] Writing the book of course I had to keep my notes. I am a journalist, first and foremost. I used to write for the New York Sun and the Tennessean. I keep notes and I have those in a very safe place. [Laughs] To make sure I don't forget who's who because I knew I had to change everyone's name. Yes.
Do you think at any point you would reveal any of those names? Why or why not? No. I didn't write this book as a way to demean or out anyone or to do damage to anyone's careers. I think or I hope first and foremost that [people] can understand and recognize that this is my memoir. It is a memoir of my life as a down-low man in the entertainment industry. I wrote it with the intention of hoping to provide a voice for not only myself but a lot of people who are in the industry or are struggling with their sexuality but also those people who are down-low men or gay men who are looking to get into the business and they can't. It's been really empowering — the experience of writing this book and knowing that I didn't have to out anyone to do that or to tell that type of story. How do you respond to people who question how true or accurate your accounts in this book are in light of recent news that several high-profile memoirs have been found to be mostly or partly untrue?
Two things. One, is that I have over 10-plus years working in the industry, which anyone can verify — both my name, and call any of the companies I've worked for. I've worked for major companies and corporations in the production field such as MTV, BET, Warner Brothers. I name all of the films and the projects in the book. Anyone who is resourceful can verify that information. There are some things you definitely can't [fake] in the entertainment industry because there are production records. The great thing, as you said, in light of the memoirs that have been proven to be false or fabricated, Simon and Schuster, the legal team got involved and verified a lot of the information in my book, to protect themselves but also to protect myself.
My view: Mess. How is this helping people come out, when he has list of gay stars hidden under his bed. And again, selling it as "I'm gonna tell you who's gay in Hip Hop whether you like it or not" as a memoir is an old and shoddy tactic. If he wanted people to take his story seriously, he should take his story seriously.
And the part about the fabricated pieces is a weak response. I can work at Macy's, in fact I have. But I could lie about my affairs with managers. If they are closeted how would they confirm the truth?
The funny part is he writes empowering books for black men. It's almost saying that Rhoda Penmark (The girl from, The Bad Seed) writes books about being a good child. I hope this doesn't take off, this book should be in the dollar stores or burned. Where is Captain Beatty and the firemen when you need them.

Hill-Hill's next step: Let your people go
Bill Clinton was known as the Black people's president, and Hillary fought for civil rights for many years. But after watching CNN recently, I wonder if she has been faking her fight for social change.
I mentioned earlier that she should address her special coalition about the ignorance and racism. And I was glad to see some panelists agreeing with me.
One panelist said that Hillary should denounce her silly racist voters. He thinks Hillary should say, “If you’re only voting for me because you don’t want to vote for a black man, then I don’t want your vote.”
And she should do this and soon. It doesn't make sense to talk about being a champion for civil rights, while a lost soul burns a cross in your honor.
GUTWRENCHER: a great, horror comic
I just finished a great miniseries called, Gutwrencher. The story goes like this:
In rural New England, a hiker is infected with an ancient curse days before his ten-year high school reunion. If his soul is pure he will be able to resist its bloodlust, if not… nothing will be able to stop him!
The story is by Shannon Eric Denton, Keith Giffen, and Steve Niles. It's an interesting twist to a revenge tale. It's full of blood and a kick of humor. It's a fun story and a good read.
This is Greed, and this is what happens to Greedy people
Yuck of the month, Lou Pearlman, the man who created the Backstreet Boys and 'N Sync, was sentenced Wednesday to 25 years in federal prison for decades of scamming thousands of investors out of their life savings.
This was the maximum sentence the boy band freak-o-geek could receive for allegedly swindling some $300 million from investors and banks since the early 1980s.
Shame of you, Lou. Now who's going to buy all those rent-boys and make them a boy band now? P. Diddy?Tuesday, May 20, 2008
Go Flash Go!
After the dumb as hell series failure, Flash Gordon is coming back! Sony Pictures Entertainment has won out in spirited bidding for the '30s comicstrip "Flash Gordon," negotiating with Hearst for the rights to make a live-action film.
Breck Eisner ("Sahara") is attached to direct. Neal Moritz will produce through his Sony-based Original Films banner. A deal being negotiated is for high six figures against seven figures if the film gets made.
I hope they get another dream beau like Sam Jones. Goddess, I had such a crush on him. And I hope it's a little flashy like the 80s movie. Love, love, love all of those costumes and Princess Aura (Ornella Muti)...Diva.Agatha Christie presents: The Curse of Peter Pan
On the nets today, people are talking about the article in OUT magazine. They are highlighting Disco Daddies, or as I call it, The Curse of Peter Pan. They talk about having it all: kids, two car garage, family life, and the circuit party VIP status. Some are cheering this on, while others are horrified. After reading some of the article, I found myself just shaking my head and asking: When do we officially grow up and take responsibility?
Out magazine has decided to explore a new breed of gay dad in their June/July issue—dubbed "disco dads," the men who have families but still want to go out, hit the circuit parties and hook up on the internet.
The website, The Sword, provides an interesting view to the article.
But shouldn't everyone, including gays, have to sacrifice and grow up a bit when they become parents? These new dads "want to have it all," says Jeffrey Parson, gay dad and psychology professor. "They have... adult responsibilities but they also keep their connections to the community, sometimes in the party scene." We guess that means we'll be seeing more dads "having it all" while waiting for STD screenings at the clinic, baby bouncing on knee.
As I continued reading about this new sub group, I was hit with this statement about a couple looking on Manhunt for some play, and if his daughter wanted to use the computer he would scoot her out and change the screen.
Manhunt? Great, just what our kids need to see. Daddy screwing at the guy that work at their favorite ice cream shop. Or hearing both daddies and some hook up go at it, when the child just had a nightmare. I thought when you wanted to start a family, it meant you wanted to settle down. Maybe times have changed, but I still think someone has to be the grown up.
Also I think this behavior stains our "we're stable parents" argument. When we still want to be "hot" are we really ready to be role models? I don't know. I don't want to judge, but we should let our old young and dumb phases go. Since when did keeping their connections to the community means partying like its 1999? And when did our community become a big ole gay party?
This notion of "having it all" should mean more than threesomes, leather, and shameless mess. It should mean having someone to love you, having a person to grow old with, sharing that love with your children, and growing as a person.

I called it! CW is on probation!
The Wall Street Journal online is putting something out in the open. Apparently my views of CW are not in vain. Check out some of the info they are talking about.
*********************************************************************************
The network has lost about 28% of its target audience of 18 to 34 year olds so far this season. Its ratings during this month's "sweeps" period -- the all-important measure upon which future advertising rates are set -- are down about 22%.
Advertisers eager to reach a young demographic initially clamored to sign on to the CW, but have since cooled to the network. Steven Kalb, director of broadcast media for media-buying firm MediaHub, owned by Interpublic Group, says there were high hopes for the network when last year's lineup was unveiled. Now, he says, "It has collapsed."
Part of the problem is that the CW's young audience is most prone to spend leisure time on the Internet. Last winter's Hollywood writers' strike, which forced scripted shows off the air for three months, hastened the defection of viewers to the Web.
CW executives attribute the network's poor ratings performance not to a lack of viewers but to flaws in the system of measure. "Obviously, we would have liked to do better," Ms. Ostroff said this week. "Our young audience certainly knows how to get their content in different ways, and we have to figure out different ways to measure how they're getting it."

- Stop with the rich white kids! It outdated and it's tired! You have three of your main shows in fall all about the same thing, RICH WHITE KIDS. Does that make sense?
- Add color back to your screen. You got rid of your shows of color. You are truly CW, the Completely White network. I will sic the NAACP on you to change up your format.
- We don't want to see teens in every drama, that's what Nickelodeon is for.
- And if you're going to put teens in drama, get some fresh ideas. Think about the issues that are affecting kids of today, maybe that can help you with real stories.
- Men watch TV too! This "women only" plan will fail.
- The 28% you lost were probably the men, people of color, and people with common sense.
- Get some real dramas, like stories about single mothers, the lower class, some sci-fi, and a gay soap opera.
- Quit hiring 20 year-olds to create your TV shows.
3days away
Sorry I haven't blogged. I was attending a conference called NACURH. My students are in a residential hall association and we flew to Oklahoma State University for the weekend. We were robbed of School of the Year, but we'll get it next year. But I'm back in L.A. ready to work and blog.

A Victory? Or a bigger battle to come
I just had a thought. Although, we have the right to marry in California now. Will this be used against us in the big election?
They (Repubs) have used this tactic before and it worked. But will people be fooled again? Will they worry about an issue that has nothing to do with the economy, education, or health care?
Let's pray to Athena for guidance.
CW brings us more original programming in the fall
I can run a TV network! It never cease to amaze me some of the moronic decisions that are made on a daily basis. The network of the century, CW, is putting all their eggs in one doggie bag. Their front runner for next season is 90210, the silly spin off from "If it's Spelling, my money will keep it on past it expiration date" Beverly Hills 90210. I guess I didn't know people wanted to see a spin off with no new concept.
CW, who's running y'all? High school homecoming queens and rejected guys from Blind Date? Are y'all that lost for ideas, you're rehashing shows that people begged to end? I don't get it. But when I read the article about this malarkey, they hope to get a certain demo, women from 18-34. Sorry, guys but I think Lifetime and We got you beat. Plus, CW, you already have shows that follow the same format. THE SAME FORMAT! It's like saying that the We network has Bewitched, Witches of Eastwick: the series, and Charmed.
And what stories can you, CW, tell about kids in Beverly Hills, that uh, um I don't know, The Hills or TEN freaking years of the original Beverly Hills 90210 haven already exploited?
Unless there are zombies, Cylons, or Brenda locked in a basement by her uncle. Put this mess on WB.com.
One more thing, we are in the 21 century, there are more Middle Easterners, Blacks, and Asians living in Beverly Hills now. Upgrade please.
We can do it!
Big news for us! The California Supreme Court overturned a voter-approved ban on gay marriage today in a ruling that would allow us or same-sex couples in Cali to tie the knot.
Now we can be legit and married. This makes L.A. worth living in.

Superbook to help the working-class
So, I thought to get these social terrorists back on a semi-Christian track, we need to bring back Superbook! This cartoon was big in the 80s and it fooled me into believing in morals. Maybe this show can reach people deep in their core. I mean, The Simpsons are still popular and for some odd reason, Family Guy is still on the air. Why not bring back Superbook. Chris and Joy can remind people of their faith and reasons why you should love everyone.
But if that fails, DC Talk and I are traveling all through the heartland with our Heartland of Darkness tour.
Mary Poppins: Who is she?
I don't know why I've been pondering about her, but I wonder what and who is Mary Poppins. For those of us that are comic book reading, Buffy lovers, Sci-Fi types, we always know what certain things or people are. We know about aliens, mystical weapons, demons, and monsters. But do we know about Mary?
So I start searching and looking around for info and this is what I found. Mary Poppins is a magical nanny who sweeps into the Banks home of Cherry Tree Lane and takes charge of the four Banks children. She never openly acknowledges her strange and magical powers, and feigns insult when one of the children refers to her previous adventures.
Okay, so what else is out there. She comes from nowhere, harboring these strange powers and has nanny experience. But where does her powers come from? I think she's a witch or a fairy of sorts. Maybe a genie! I don't know, but the curiosity is killing me. I think I'll make this a thesis.
A new, but different mission for the Missionaries
While I was in the shower, I was thinking about all the news the Midwest and the South are getting. As usual, it isn't good press. For some reason they never get good press, especially around education, employment, and racial issues. On the news, I was listening to several people from WV talk about their faith and how that the most important thing to them. I also read some articles about the issue of faith in the Midwest and the South. It's strong staple to them, ranked very high in their list priorities.
So if that's the case? Then some of them are not following the good word.
Several racist incidents are popping up in those areas due to Obama's rise for the nomination. Also several people are claiming to never vote for a black man, but in the same breath, state their allegiance to God. I'm sorry people, but you can't do both...well, you can, but it's considered Not Godly!
I've said this before, these people are not reading the Bible. They have forgotten the stories and the messages. You can't be foolishly racist and claim to be a pure Christian. That's like saying I'm a vegan as I order a cheeseburger. You can't do that and be real about it! You're a pure hypocrite if you do. With that being said, I think if anyone can reach these people, it's the missionaries. I know it's a crazy idea, but it's my notion to fight fire with brimstone and fire.
Missionaries are sent to harshest countries, helping to rebuild their homes while educating people about the true meaning of faith. These people are usually selfless and quite understanding. And the members are a lot younger, highly educated, and diverse. The cause is the same, but their purpose could motivate change.
I'm not religious or a Christian, but I can see how this could turn ignorance around and renew faith. I think if people believe in something then they should stand behind it. Remember the story of Jesus and the people he stood behind and issues he faced. He would not tolerate this foolishness, nor support this behavior. If you are going to evoke his words, then evoke his actions.
So I'm calling all missionaries to tend to the plague of mess in the South and Midwest. I think our country definitely needs a miracle.

The coffin is closed!!
I was happy to hear this. The generic version of Angel, Moonlight, has been canceled!! This show was doomed from the start. It was bad. I tried to watch it, but it was like watching the Angel shows that never left the cutting board.
The story was too similar to Angel and I just didn't see where they were going with it. I commend CBS for trying, but they should have tried a witch story or a werewolf series. But until there are Buffy or Angel fans, leave the vampires to the professionals.
