We Need To Stop This Obama Bashing, Gay Folks

On several gay blogs, I'm seeing this attack on Obama. Either it's about Rick Warren, DOMA, what he said 12 years ago, how many queers are in the cabinet or in White House, and so on. But you know what? Enough of these sucker punches!

The man hasn't taken oath and they are already treating him like Bush. He's not President yet and they are ready to throw him out. I don't know if this is some hidden Hillary voters issues or a secret PUMA plan, but they need to calm down.

To be really real, he don't own us anyhing. He's not serving just the gays, he's serving the nation. There are people losing their homes and health care, so I'm aware that our issues may not be on top of the list. I'm going to wait and see what Obama's going to do. He has a lot on his plate and we should be aware of that. I don't know where this...attitude is coming from.

Yes, we are pissed and tired of the foolishness besetting our lives, but goddamnit give Obama a frakking chance. Let him frak up 8 months from now and then address the issues. Hold him accountable, but also be reasonable and real. Stop digging up old ass documents, and crying over Hill-Hill's spilled milk. Obama spoke up for us, defended us, talked about us in his big winning speech...we should be thankful for all these things.

Family, Obama is our friend. Let's not treat our friend like an enemy and let's not bite the man that can help us. We need all the support we can get. So enough of picking, please.

Oh and another thing...Where was all of this mess when the campaign was happening? It just feels a bit petty to do this now.

The Subjects of our Liquid Dreams are Back!

VH1 is a live tabloid channel to say the least. However, they are bring us Confessions of A Teen Idol. I'm a little bit excited because Eric Nies and Billy Hufsey are back! I had a huge crush on both of them. So it will be interesting to see what happens

From left, Jeremy Jackson ("Baywatch"), Christopher Atkins ("The Blue Lagoon"), Jamie Walters ("Beverly Hills 90210"), Billy Hufsey ("Fame"), Eric Nies ("Real World" and "The Grind"), Adrian Zmed ("TJ Hooker," "Grease 2") and David Chokachi (also "Baywatch").

True Life...MTV continues their destruction of the Youth

As economy woes act as the 40 day flood to the TV networks, MTV has scaled back their spending and moved towards more and cheaper reality shows.

RADAR reports

"These new series reflect Generation 'Why Not?' -- living, working and playing on their own terms, 'adventure capitalists' if you will, pursuing a variety of thrill-seeking, 2.0, express-yourself enterprises," said Brian Graden, president of entertainment at MTV Networks Music Group.

We're not entirely sure what that means, but here's what they have in the gate:

College Life, about freshman at the University of Wisconsin. Can you say beer parties?

Nitro Circus, with freestyle motocross star Travis Pastrana and his posse.

The CollegeHumor Show, set in the offices of the twentysomething-run website CollegeHumor.com.

How's Your News? which was first seen ten years ago as a series of short films directed by Arthur Bradford. This one's about news reporters who have disabilities.

Rob Dyrdek's Fantasy Factory, with the co-star of MTV's Rob & Big, who is trying to grow his skateboarding business via the Fantasy Factory, a 25,000-square-foot warehouse that is transformed into a play house.

Daddy's Girls, with Rev Run's daughters Vanessa and Angela Simmons of Run's House. In this outing, they move to Los Angeles and open a store to sell their apparel line while Vanessa tries to make it as an actor.

The Girls of Hedsor Hall, inspired by the British Ladette to Lady, about a dozen foul-mouthed party girls who go to finishing school. Former Miss USA Tara Conner will be the "visiting instructor" and the winner gets $100,000.

An untitled reality show which follows students of Cincinnati's School for the Creative and Performing Arts.

A little more diverse than their past mess, but still, possibly...mess. And I hope they stop making the Real World, if I want to see amateur porn I'll go to Xtube.

Christian Coalition of America Stop Fooling Yourselves

This is the response from the Religious Terrorist Group, Christian Coalition of America.

Among the most important news from yesterday's elections were the banning of homosexual "marriages" in the states of California, Florida, and Arizona. Indeed, the citizens of California overturned a tyrannical judicial decision by 4 California judges (in a 4-3 decision earlier this year) by passing Proposition 8 yesterday.

The President of the Christian Coalition of America, Roberta Combs said: "The American people are proud of their fellow citizens in the states of California, Florida and Arizona for upholding traditional marriage between one man and one woman. Christian Coalition of America will continue to fight to ensure that government serves to strengthen and preserve, rather than threaten, our families and our values."

Thus far, 30 states have outlawed homosexual "marriages" by an average close to 70% approval by voters through amendments to the state constitutions. In addition, the voters in Arkansas yesterday approved a measure banning unmarried couples from serving as adoptive or foster parents. It will be the goal of Christian Coalition to ensure that the other 20 states adopt similar amendments banning homosexual "marriages" including the states of Massachusetts and Connecticut which also had two judicial decisions, by one vote margins, legalizing these abominations.

Abominations...no sweetie, what you are doing is an abomination. Let me remind you about the Bible and the true concept of the words. Judging what' s wrong or right, isn't your duty, it's God's. Discriminating against people in the name of religion, is true mismanagement of the faith. Jesus was attacked by the government, now you are using that same system to attack us. Trying to stop the celebration of love is damn near evil than good.

My dear, you are not working in the best interest of God. Remember God 'supposedly' made all of this. He don't need to you or your group of disillusioned fleas. So stop being a spokesperson for God or Jesus; you are doing a poor job so far.

Love, hope, and community were God's main codes. Where did y'all go so wrong? Oh I know, corruption and power. Doing crap like this gave y'all a sense of power, which is far from the way Jesus would have reacted. You are a disgrace to the faith and what comes around, goes around. This isn't over, and we will have our day. So get ready...we're coming back!

McCain, there are others suffering out there!

Okay, although Joe the Plumber is kinda cute, he's getting on my nerves. And McCain is riding him as much as he can to reach the people. But he has forgot there are real people who really has it rough. And they can't even think about owning a business or a house for that matter.

I'm talking about Shaneka the single mother, Carlos the Janitor, Melba the school teacher, Jack the farmer, Tina working 2 jobs, and Robert the newly freed man from jail trying to change his life.

What about them, McCain? Did you forget about them? Joe ain't broke and he ain't suffering. Hell, there are silly ass folks raising money to pay his back taxes. How about raising money for the folks who need it. That's the real American way.

Scientists Reveal the Make-up of Repubs

Gawker and Newsweek has enlighten me with some interesting info. I've thought there were 2 types of voters, as well as, 2 types of people; well this helped a little.

Conservatives Are Scared A Lot

Rice University Political Scientist John Alford published some research in the creatively named journal Science about a possible biological basis to liberalism and conservatism. Basically, "46 mostly white Midwesterners who self-identified as having strong political beliefs" were shown "threatening images" ("a large spider on someone's face, a bloodied person and maggot-filled wound"). The conservatives were more scared, of all of the images. Or, as Newsweek puts it, "illegal immigrants may = spiders = gay marriages = maggot-filled wounds = abortion rights = bloodied faces. " Liberals were not sensitive to the scary images. Which means they're biologically inferior, because they'd die if a gay spider tried to abort their faces to death. Notable problems with this study: small sample, also wtf this doesn't explain anything.

Conservatives Refuse to Believe "Facts"

The most upsetting and alarming research? Probably Brendan Nyhan and Jason Reifler's backfire effect study. In that, the political scientists took two groups of volunteers and gave them the Bush administration's prewar claims that Iraq was a threat and had weapons of mass destruction.

One group was given a refutation — the comprehensive 2004 Duelfer report that concluded that Iraq did not have weapons of mass destruction before the United States invaded in 2003. Thirty-four percent of conservatives told only about the Bush administration's claims thought Iraq had hidden or destroyed its weapons before the U.S. invasion, but 64 percent of conservatives who heard both claim and refutation thought that Iraq really did have the weapons. The refutation, in other words, made the misinformation worse.

This "backfire" effect only worked on conservatives. Even when they varied the source of the refutations, it made no difference—corrections from the New York Times and Fox News both caused conservatives to believe the lies even harder. In other words, objective truth is dead, observable reality is a fairy tale, etc.

Conservatives Have An Entirely Different Moral Code

This should bring you down, a little bit. Jonathan Haidt, a psychologist, wrote a lengthy anthropological investigation into why people vote for Republicans. It's not the Thomas Frank "they are distracted by bullshit" explanation, though it is related: they have different cultural standards of ethics and morality! Liberals and college students define morality as "how we treat each other," conservatives attach more significance to "supporting essential institutions, and living in a sanctified and noble way." Liberals recognize fairness and care as important moral virtues, conservatives add to that loyalty, respect for authority, and duty. The educated moral relativism worldview is fundamentally incompatible with the way like 50% of America thinks, and stereotypes about out-of-touch elitist coastal democrats are basically correct. Sigh.

So What Have We Learned?

Conservatives respond instinctually, not rationally, to scary images, "facts," and institutions. Whether this is innate and biological or cultural seems still up in the air. Democrats can't with with logical arguments or even appeals to the innate rightness of concepts like "diversity" and "tolerance," because those aren't considered essentially good and important by the voters they're trying to appeal to. This does suggest that an appeal to old New Deal institutional concepts like the Welfare State might actually be effective, if they're wrapped in the flag and a sense of duty. Also scientists still consider the majority of Americans to be like a fascinating exotic backwards tribe and the fucking country is doomed.

What did I learn?

Education is key. Reading is Fundamental. And Elitists are cool.

Interesting Quotes: Sen. Chuck Hagel

"She doesn't have any foreign policy credentials. You get a passport for the first time in your life last year? I mean, I don't know what you can say. You can't say anything."

"I think it's a stretch to, in any way, to say that she's got the experience to be president of the United States."

"I think they ought to be just honest about it and stop the nonsense about, 'I look out my window and I see Russia and so therefore I know something about Russia,'" he said. "That kind of thing is insulting to the American people."

And he should know, Hagel is a senior member of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee. Thank you for keeping it real, Chuck!

Morning Thoughts

I don't mean this in a good way, but I am glad that the Wall Street drama has brought the election back on track.

When I saw the line of fools running up to the Moose Hunter train, I felt sick. It was scary to see or to think of Palin as a hero. And the fact that McCain dished out lies once he gained the upper hand, was the straw that broke my back. It was just disgusting and almost comical that people welcomed this lunacy.

But now as our economy dances on thin ice, the truth is coming in. We need someone who can get on track. All of this foolishness about being normal and "just like us" is a mess. I don't want just anyone keeping us safe and financially balanced, I need someone who knows WTF they are doing. You know and I know it.

And it helps that Jeffrey Sachs, a renowned economist and special adviser to the U.N. secretary-general, thinks Obama's plan is "closer" to being on point. He also thinks that McCain has "reinvented himself in the last 24 hours" talking about the economy when he's voted with Bush most of the time and never really knew how the money game worked. So maybe that could be a clue? I don't know. Judge for yourself.

American Reality

This is a recession. There's no doubt about it, companies are falling out, gas prices are high, the dollar's worth is shaky. We're in trouble when Lehman Brothers is filing for bankruptcy, while Bank of America is going to buy Merrill Lynch.

It's real and hitting hard. And we talk about leaving government out of things, please, at this point the government peeps are the Justice League. Maybe if we stop funding the war we will be back on track, or focus on real issues that matter to everyone else, like economy and taxes, versus abortions and silly family values that are too trite to believe in.

Whether we like it or not, this is our America and we are not the superpower we used to be.

Horror in Real Time

This is a story straight from the Lifetime think tank. I can't believe it's real.

A Lebanese pop star is brutally murdered in her luxury Dubai apartment, her throat slashed. Arrested in her death: One of Egypt's most politically connected businessmen, accused of paying $2 million to have her killed. The slaying of Suzanne Tamim has gone beyond a lurid crime story to something more serious -- a glimpse into the close links between Egypt's government and powerful business tycoons long viewed as above the law.

It is also exposing strains between societies like Egypt's, where wealth and political power increasingly go hand in hand, and Dubai, which recently launched a high-profile push against corruption.

People in the Arab world have long followed with fascination and moral clucking the tales of businessmen and politicians cavorting with actresses, belly-dancers and singers -- a sort of Hollywood Babylon in the conservative Muslim Middle East.

But even by those standards, the Tamim drama is a stunner. The 30-year-old singer, famed for her striking green eyes, was found dead in her Dubai apartment in July, with multiple stab wounds and a 20-centimeter (8 inch) slash across her throat.

This week, Egyptian authorities arrested real estate mogul Hisham Talaat Moustafa, said to be Tamim's former lover.

For many, the surprise wasn't Moustafa's alleged involvement -- but his arrest.

Egyptians are widely convinced their government won't touch influential businessmen. When Moustafa's name first appeared in media reports weeks ago, he denied a role and complained on Egyptian television that the rumors hurt the economy. The government promptly banned press reports on the murder, suggesting that Moustafa was off-limits.

My heart goes out to her family and fans.

Someone Does Not Like Jonny

McCain's Camp is receiving threats as the Dems Con comes around the corner. He's received two suspicious letters at two campaign offices, and one of them containing an unidentified white powder.

CNN said that one of the letters was sent to McCain's campaign office in suburban Denver, the other to an office in Manchester, New Hampshire, causing evacuations of both offices.

There's nothing about the content of the letters, but I'm curious to know what was written. Maybe the white power was B.C. for all the headache he's given us.

Send MTV to the Phantom Zone, NOW!

Lets face it, MTV sucks! I mean really sucks! They always find a new way to perpetuate stereotypes, degrade people, and make entitled folks feel overly...entitled. Now they have done it with this new stew of mess.

They just announced a new show called Model Makers, which follows the tired format of finding the next model but here's the catch: they have to shed at least 30 pounds in exchange for a shot at fame.

So the more weight they lose, they have a better shot in winning a silly contact that guarantees them nothing. I don't know who's creating this stuff, but I feel they literally trying to f**k up our society. We should build up our young girls not tear them down with tricky model/weight loss malarkey. Will this show have healthy tips on eating? Are life coaches around? Will there be bitchy judges to make these girls feel horrible?

We'll see, but I hope this show promote self worth and not self indulgence.

Clinton Supporters Listen Up!

Die-Hard Hill-Hill peeps, this is for you.

I understand loss, hurt and grieving to your heart's content. But now is not the time to continue your ranting and childlike behavior. We have moved on, the country has moved on, and now it's the time for you to move on and do your duty as a Dem.

Planning protest, threating to go Repub, and marching to Denver are not ways to unify us. It's getting to the point that we may not need you anymore. If you are going to cause problems for this campaign and have no solutions to win this election...stay home until you grow up, stop being myopic, and look at the big picture.

I think this has gone on too long. I feel you, I do. At first I supported Hill-Hill, but I realize I have to look at the big picture. It's not about me, it's about our country. I'm not going to jeopardize any opportunity to get a Dem as president. If anything, I will remain faithful to the Dems and to Obama winning it all.

Look, I was sad when Jean Grey died and slutty Emma Frost got Scott (a little X-Men reference there), however I didn't stop reading the comic, I kept reading because I care about the story. If you can care about the future, then please put your pride aside. Hill-Hill will be in the White House, but in a different role. If you want to support her, help Obama first.

Do We Need LOGO?

Today a study revealed some interesting news about our superchannel, LOGO. According to their own press release, the research shows the younger gay don't really see a need for LOGO. Interesting.

Among the key findings of the national qualitative and quantitative research:

· A vast majority (79 percent) of gay people think it’s important to integrate into the greater culture and 64 percent are open about their sexual orientation to at least their family members.

· Less than half of gay people want to live in the city and a majority want to live in suburbia or small-town America. Regardless of where they want to live, 58 percent want to live closer to other gay people.

· Two-thirds of younger gay people expect to be partnered with kids at some point in their adulthood, while less than a third of gays 35 and older expect the same.

· Younger gay people have an even mix of gay and straight friends.

· Overall, gay people rank marriage equality as the number one issue about which they’re passionate, followed by the environment, health care and the economy.

I guess the gays are growing up. Click here for more.
