Sneak Peek of New Moon: Buffy-lite 2

Believe it or not, some of my readers are fans

Abortion Doctor Kiled at Church

This is odd. According to anonymous police sources, George Tiller, a doctor known for performing late-term abortions, was shot and killed at his church.

Media reports say that abortion provider Dr. George Tiller has been shot and killed at his Wichita church.
Tiller has been a favored target of anti-abortion protesters, and he testified that he and his family have suffered years of harassment and threats. His clinic was the site of the 1991 "Summer of Mercy" protests marked by mass demonstrations and arrests. His clinic was bombed in 1985, and an abortion opponent shot him in both arms in 1993.

His family never thought this would happen.

The killer is still loose.

The Return of ALIEN

Well, I knew this would happen, but I'm not worried. This could be good actually.

Producer Tony Scott confirmed to Collider.com that he and brother Ridley Scott are developing a prequel film to Ridley's original Alien movie, with Carl Rinsch directing.

The news confirms the rumor first reported by Bloody-Disgusting that an Alien remake was in the works for 20th Century Fox.

"Carl Rinsch is going to do the prequel to Alien," Scott told Collider while promoting The Taking of Pelham 123. "He's one of our directors at our company."

Tony Scott added: "I'm excited because Ridley created the original, and Carl Rinsch is one of the family."

Scott said that he hopes to get the movie before cameras ""hopefully [by] the end of the year" for a summer 2011 release.

I enjoy these movies. I pray to Athena, this new version won't crap all over the classic tales.

One of the reasons why I like Scary Things

Many years ago, my friend invited me over to his house for a sleepover. He lived on the opposite side of town where most of the homes had spacious yards and very nice doghouses.

If I remember, my friend didn't like his house and was scared to be there alone. Usually, his sister was around and always had a friend over on the weekends. That particular night, his parents were out and she spent most of her time in her room.

After a few hours of videos and stuffing pizza down our throats, my friend and I went to bed. However, I couldn't sleep because his sheets were prickly and it was a little hot in his room. So I went over to the window to crack it open for some air.

And that's when I noticed a man staring at the neighbor's house. I only saw the back of him, I couldn't tell if he was bald or if he just had a round head. I stood there watching him until he finally moved. He walked up to the house and start writing on the window. Then, he backed up and turned around. I hid so he couldn't see me, but it was too late, he saw me. I was caught, but I kept watching. He was bald, and very skinny almost like a skeleton. He stood for several minutes and then, he waved.

I waved back and just like that, he walked away.

The next day I told my friend about what I saw. We went over to the neighbor's house to see what was written on the window...it was a face with a frown on it. My friend told his neighbors and they quickly called the cops.

Till this day, no one ever found out who did it. I never told the cops or my friend about the stranger waving at me. I thought if I said a word, it wouldn't be real anymore; that moment would cease to exist. But it was more than that. I realized I liked the fear and terror I felt. It was a rush, an weird but refreshing rush. For that moment, I interacted with some crazy person and that was very exciting to me.

In fact, that little event help started my love affair with horror and scary things. Actually, it's one of the reasons why I like scary things, I just like that story because there is no real ending.

As far as I know...He's still out there.

The Alliance Defense Fund is planning fight for Prop 8

I really hate this group. They are mostly all bluff, but they try their damnedest to scare folks. Now with Prop 8 heading up to the Supreme Court, they want to join the fight...to keep it intact of course.
The Alliance Defense Fund filed court papers Thursday asking U.S. District Judge Vaughn Walker to allow it to defend the constitutionality of Proposition 8. Gay couples prohibited from marrying filed a lawsuit in San Francisco federal court May 22 and allege that California's marriage ban violates constitutional equal protection provisions.

The Alliance Defense Fund spent more than $37 million in leading the campaign to pass Proposition 8 in November and successfully defended it before the state Supreme Court. The judge will hold a hearing July 2 to consider the group's request and whether to temporarily suspend the ban while considering the lawsuit.

They are blowhards. I dealt with them before and believe me, they are nothing but talk.

Give Me the Omegahedron...I have to Stop them from remaking Girls Just Want to Have Fun

This is blasphemous, pure mess.

They can remake Footloose, I hated Footloose (sorry Kevin Bacon, I still love you)

But now, they want to butcher, Girls Just Want to Have Fun.

This is wrong on so many fronts. This is one of my favorite movies...Sarah Jessica Parker, Helen Hunt, and dirty-sex on legs, Lee Montgomery. It's a classic! Don't Touch It!

Here's the gut-bunching news
Twentieth Century Fox and Lakeshore Entertainment are mounting a remake of "Girls Just Want to Have Fun," the 1985 teen comedy that starred Helen Hunt and Sarah Jessica Parker.

The comedy will be developed as a potential star vehicle for Miley Cyrus. Lakeshore's Gary Lucchesi and Tom Rosenberg will produce.

The studio has set Michelle Morgan to write a new version of the film, which centered on two girls who share a passion for dancing and the hit show "Dance TV."

Why? WHHHHYYYYY? New Ideas, Hollywood! New Ideas!

My Favorite scene in Grease 2

I have to say, Grease 2 is way better than Grease. I know folks would banish me to Hell for that, but I found Grease 2 to be fun, sexy and crazy.

And Maxwell Caulfield was and is waaayyy hotter that John Travolta.

makes you love Biology class

But the real reason I liked this movie was this scene right here.

Zachary Quinto get Milky

I saw this and thought, "What is this for?"

Then someone said it looked like a bukkake scene.

Believe it or not...I didn't know what a bukkake was.

Now, I do.

No Straight Marriage for You!

Talk about an interesting turn of events.

In Cali-Cal, Rev. Art Cribbs and Rev. Anne Cohen said they will not perform any weddings until the ban on same-sex marriage is gone.

Cribbs said he understood why some people say same-sex marriage is against their religious beliefs. But with Proposition 8, he said, "a boundary has been crossed" between religion and civil law.

The state "failed to protect a vulnerable minority from the tyranny of a majority," Cribbs said.

"Our church is involved in justice issues, we are against discrimination," he said. "I personally have known the pain of rejection."

Supporters attending the news conference included the Rev. Susan Russell from All Saints Episcopal Church in Pasadena, where the first gay wedding ceremonies in the city were performed last year.

"I stand in solidarity (with) this profound stand for justice," said Russell, president of Integrity USA, the 30-year-old advocacy organization for the gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender communities.

No one, she said, has the right to insert religious beliefs into the state Constitution.

"Liberty and justice for all should really mean all," Russell said.

Interesting.

Torchwood Season 3 is Coming

Beau Breedlove is afraid the media will "affect the public's opinion of me"

It's been quiet over in the Adams & Breedlove world for a couple of months...until now. The famewhore Breedlove has filed a request for a restraining order against Brent Walth, a reporter for The Oregonian.

Really Breedlove? He's just doing his job, he's try to get the story. The story, you were so quick to sell to the highest bidder, pose nude, sign magazines, and judge a big dick contest for.

And it gets better...in his request, Beau said that Brent would publish damaging information about him if he didn't do an interview with The Oregonian.

In fact, Beau said that Brent's threats would "affect the public's opinion of me".

What? Trick, please! You have done that all by yourself. Seriously, who are you foolin', fool?

Sandy Rowe, editor of The Oregonian, feels the same way. She said:
"Any suggestion that Brent Walth coerced or threatened Beau Breedlove is absurd. Mr. Breedlove gave us an on-the-record interview voluntarily. He asked for nothing in exchange for the interview, and the newspaper made him no promises about what it would or would not publish."

Beau, get your act together.

UPDATE: A judge denied Beau's request...SNAP!

One More Thing about Adam

I asked the question, now I may get the answer.

Adam Lambert will be coming out

"AMERICAN Idol" runner-up Adam Lambert has steadfastly refused to talk about his sexuality despite photos of him on his Web site tongue-kissing men and dressed in full drag -- but not for much longer. A well-placed magazine source tells Page Six that Lambert will be coming out officially on the next cover of Rolling Stone.

(This week's issue has Lady Gaga on the cover.) "He didn't want it to be an issue during the contest, but he's fine with his sexuality," we're told. In the past, when asked about it, Lambert has only said, "Keep speculating." A rep for Rolling Stone said, "We don't comment on future covers." Lambert's rep, Roger Widynowski, didn't return e-mails.

Well, we will see.

The Warren Pennsylvania Times-Observer published an ad for Obama's Assassination

Where are the editors or someone with common sense? Why would they publish that?

Well Keystone Progress, an activist blog in PA, saw this mess and called Times-Observer for an explanation.

Keystone Progress called the Times-Observer for comment and got a return call from John T. Elchert, the paper’s publisher. Mr. Elchert was extremely apologetic and wanted to make it clear that the ad did not reflect the paper’s policy.

“It is unfortunate that it made it to press,” said Elchert. “The person who took the ad didn’t recognize the significance of the names. We cancelled the ad and turned the information over to the authorities.”
Mr . Elchert said that he contacted the local police who were forwarding the information to federal authorities.

“Unfortunately, the attitude of the person who placed the ad is too prevalent in Pennsylvania,” said Michael Morrill, the executive director of Keystone Progress. “In the last few days we’ve gotten emails calling the president ‘chimp’ and the n-word after he nominated Judge Sotomayor. It makes it very difficult to organize around issues when the opposition to the president’s policies is so racially charged. ”

Goodness Gracious! And I'm going to Pennsylvania next Friday. So this "chimp" needs to be ready for drama (j/k)

Is Lafayette coming back to True Blood?

I hope Lafayette comes back. At the end of TB's first season, something attacked Lafayette and we were led to believe that he's...I can't say it.

However, I found this piece of info that really didn't help things at all.
When will we find out who's dead in the car on True Blood? — Neil

MICKEY: Since the season premiere (airing Sunday, June 14, 9 pm/ET) picks up right where we left off, the victim's identity is revealed in short order. As you might have already guessed, Season 2's first casualty is related to Tara, but not in a way that you will guess. At first blush, the significance of said death will not be apparent, but just wait! Also, a minor character's drinking problem will resurface — hilariously.

Nope, didn't help at all.

Bishop Harry Jackson starts his Brotherhood of Religious Fools

Not wasting a moment after our defeat, Bishop Harry Jackson has gathered up some fools to block DC's recognition of gay marriages performed in other jurisdictions.

He's a part of group called, Stand 4 Marriage D.C. and they are, as they put it, going to war.
Bishop Jackson called the referendum plans a “declaration of war,” intended to stop a potential effort to legalize same-sex marriages performed in D.C. later this year.

Prior to the start of signature collection, however, the board of elections must first decide whether the question of overturning out-of-state marriage recognition qualifies for the ballot. Marriage-equality activists maintain that the issue falls under part of local election law that prohibits referendums from being used to violate the city’s human rights act.

If the referendum were approved, supporters would have 180 days to collect the required signatures from at least five percent of registered voters across the city’s eight wards.

Should they accomplish that feat, which has eluded recent referendum attempts on different subjects, the question could be presented to voters this year or next.

It's a shame that preachers have nothing else to do but to waste time and money. And how are you declaring war, Harry? Is that the Christian way?
Oh, and remember, you can lose your tax-exempt status for meddling in our affairs, Harry!

Question of the Day part 2

Is it fair to judge Obama in this manor right now? I'm bias, I will admit to that. But am I missing something here?

I'm really struggling with the faltering support of President Obama from gays. I understand the concerns, but does that lead into him ditching us? Betraying us? I know we are dramatic, but great Hera! I'm not sure this is the time to turn our backs on the President.

I'm sorry to harp on this, but it's interesting to me how things are changing. There's a lot going on in this country right now. I am willing to wait until things are not so rocky. I can't enjoy my marriage if I'm broke, with no job and my health care is a joke.

Am I out of the loop? Am I too optimistic?

I would love to hear what y'all think.

He relocates to Miami after being tracked by F.B.I. John Lithgow is playing this character, so it should be superb.

Rallying at Obama's fundraiser at the Beverly Hilton Tonight

On today's agenda for the Week of Equality, there will be a rally at the Beverly Hilton.

The reason: President Obama will be there and it suppose to be a support rally to "honor his promises" to us.

But let's be sure that we are supporting and encouraging Obama to stay on track, and not acting like the teabaggers from the Tea Party foolery.

What happens tonight could be something that defines our movement positively or negatively. Let's strive for the positive. The last thing we need is to send a message that we are ungrateful or trifling. We should remind Obama that we are still here, we care and honor his leadership and he should not and can not forget about us.

I know he hasn't, but I can understand how his silence is deafening. Hopefully, when he see us tonight he will think about what he needs to do to honor his promises. Being the staunch supporter of Obama, I know he will come through. He just need to say something or inform his folks about his plans.

Still believing, still supporting.

Prop 8 is In...What's Next?

So Prop 8 is upheld. Now it's time to move forward.

During our rallies, I hope we think about how to change this mess of a proposition. I know folks are angry, but let's not run around in circles. As we prepare for a new battle, there are some things we should think about.

  • We should come together in love and hope. No finger pointing or blaming this person or this race. We need to stand together as a powerful force.
  • We need to have goals and agendas in order. Let's not make it up as we go.
  • Oh, this is not President Obama's fault, Queerty. But I'm sure y'all will blame him for this.
  • Make sure that we are inviting EVERYBODY to the table when discussing next steps. We lost because the No on Prop 8 team was basically a clique, we can't do that again. We need all of our grassroot folks involved in this process.
  • We need to reach out to our allies and bring them aboard.
  • We need to go beyond Beverly Hills, WeHo and other gay friendly spots. We need to go to Crenshaw, Watts, East LA and other places where we are not as visible. If we going to change minds, we have to look beyond our safe neighborhoods.
  • Raise money and use that money wisely.
  • Support politicians that truly support us.
  • Challenge yourself and get involved. Grassroot groups don't appear out of thin air, they take hard working people who believe and strive to achieve.
  • Be prepared for religious groups and their dark tactics, we can't let them have the upper hand.
  • Keep our eyes on the prize.
I could go on, but this is enough. We can change this mess in 2010, but we need to start now. I hope our rally leaders express this tonight.

Prop 8 Upheld

The California Supreme Court will uphold Proposition 8. The 18,000 same-sex couples married during the window will remain married.

Sad news, but we will get it.

A Buffy Remake...WITHOUT JOSS WHEDON?

This better be a joke and if it is, it ain't funny! This is FOOLISHNESS!!!

A new incarnation of "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" could be coming to the big screen. "Buffy" creator Joss Whedon isn't involved and it's not set up at a studio, but Roy Lee and Doug Davison of Vertigo Entertainment are working with original movie director Fran Rubel Kuzui and her husband, Kaz Kuzui, on what is being labeled a remake or relaunch, but not a sequel or prequel.

While Whedon is the person most associated with "Buffy," Kuzui and her Kuzui Enterprises have held onto the rights since the beginning, when she discovered the "Buffy" script from then-unknown Whedon. She developed the script while her husband put together the financing to make the 1992 movie, which was released by Fox.
Kuzui later teamed with Gail Berman, then president of Sandollar Television, bringing back Whedon to make the TV series, which was produced by Fox TV and launched on the WB in 1997.

Kuzui and Sandollar received executive producer credits on "Buffy" and its spinoff, "Angel."
The new "Buffy" film, however, would have no connection to the TV series, nor would it use popular supporting characters like Angel, Willow, Xander or Spike.

Vertigo and Kuzui are looking to restart the story line without trampling on the beloved existing universe created by Whedon, putting the parties in a similar situation faced by Paramount, J.J. Abrams and his crew when relaunching "Star Trek."
WHAT?? This is an Omega Fail in waiting. No one will watch this and no one will take this seriously! Do they know about the series? Seven years of great TV? This is rogue! So rogue!

And no connection to the character we love? FAIL, FAIL, FAIL, FAIL, FAIL!!!!

I will call on the arctic winds and bring this studio and fools involved down. We Whedonites won't stand for this!

Sonia Sotomayor is Obama's pick for Supreme Court

Interesting news

President Barack Obama tapped federal appeals judge Sonia Sotomayor for the Supreme Court on Tuesday, officials said, making her the first Hispanic in history picked to wear the robes of a justice.

If confirmed by the Senate, Sotomayor, 54, would succeed retiring Justice David Souter. Two officials described Obama's decision on condition of anonymity because no formal announcement had been made. Administration officials say Sotomayor would bring more judicial experience to the Supreme Court than any justice confirmed in the past 70 years.

A formal announcement was expected at midmorning.

Obama had said publicly he wanted a justice who combined intellect and empathy — the ability to understand the troubles of everyday Americans.

Democrats hold a large majority in the Senate, and barring the unexpected, Sotomayor's confirmation should be assured. If approved, she would join Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg as the second woman on the current court.

More on her later today

How Obama sparked a Cultural Change

In The Observer, Joanna Walters wrote a great article about how Obama set a quiet tone for gay equality.

Whether people like it or not, Obama's win has sparked hope for gay rights and we are moving forward in a pretty good stride. However, folks are forgetting that notion and turning fickle by the minute. With that said, the article speaks on the things some folks may not think about.

This spring, Obama specifically sent out invitations to gay parents to attend the annual Easter egg roll on the White House lawn. Trite, perhaps, but revealing. And Stanford law professors Kathleen Sullivan and Pamela Karlan, both openly gay, may not be regarded as frontrunners to fill the gap in the supreme court when Obama announces his nominee, but their very mention is an epiphany.

Gay congressman Barney Frank, often voted brainiest and wittiest politician in Congress, is currently orchestrating federal anti-discrimination legislation to protect gay people in the work place.

New York state Republican assemblywoman Janet Duprey voted No on the gay marriage bill when it failed to become law in 2007, but voted Yes earlier this month and now hopes it will pass in the state senate. She said she was persuaded by the presence of a lesbian couple living three doors down on her block, and the opinions of "lovely, reasonable" gay constituents - "doctors, teachers, government workers, all sorts of decent citizens" - who lobbied her.

Duprey is now receiving cards warning her that she will burn in hell, but she said coming into contact with ordinary gay people who "just wanted equal rights" swayed her. Civil union partnerships have too many legal weaknesses, she said. "Everyone needs a lesbian couple on their block."

Meanwhile, Rachel Maddow is lobbying for Obama immediately to issue a moratorium on troops being discharged from the military for being openly gay, including a soldier who came out on her show.

Other campaigners are prepared to give Obama the benefit of the doubt for now, while he fixes the economy and deals with two wars.

It's a great article, please check it out.

Hill-Hill Delivers: Gay Diplomats will get Equal Benefits

Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton will announce that gay US diplomats will be given equal benefits.

In her words:
"Providing training, medical care and other benefits to domestic partners promote the cohesiveness, safety and effectiveness of our posts abroad. It will also help the department attract and retain personnel in a competitive environment where domestic partner benefits and allowances are increasingly the norm for world-class employers."

"At bottom, the department will provide these benefits for both opposite-sex and same-sex domestic partners because it is the right thing to do."

Among the benefits that will now be granted gay diplomats: the right of domestic partners to hold diplomatic passports, government-paid travel for their partners and families to and from foreign posts, and the use of U.S. medical facilities abroad.

In addition, gay diplomats' families will now be eligible for U.S. government emergency evacuations and training courses at the Foreign Service Institute.

This is good stuff. I am sure there's more to come for us.

DC is Clowning...30+ House Reps wants a DC DOMA

This is foolishness. Just as DC begins to recognize same-sex marriages from other places, more haters try to throw shade. This is time is from a group of Repubs and a couple of Dems.

They want a DC DOMA to define marriage between a man and a woman.
The group introduced a bill in the House on Thursday, hoping to thwart a city council vote this month recognizing same-sex marriages performed in other jurisdictions. Five states — Connecticut, Iowa, Maine, Massachusetts and Vermont — allow gay marriage.

Congress, which has final say over laws in the nation's capital, has until July to act against the district measure. Otherwise, it automatically becomes law. Some council members have said the legislation is the first step toward eventually allowing gay marriage in Washington.

More than 30 lawmakers have signed on as co-sponsors of the House bill, said Rep. Jim Jordan, R-Ohio. However, all but two are Republicans, and it will be a fight to get the bill approved in a Democratic-controlled Congress and signed by President Barack Obama.

However, the dilemma is Obama. He supports civil unions and he may not want to rock the boat. So hopefully this bill will fail, especially if Obama trying to save face with us.

Still, it's disappointing to see these fools fight this hard to steal our happiness.

One More Time for the Cheap Seats in the back

Let's try this again, the California supreme court will rule on the constitutionality of Proposition 8 on Tuesday.

Kate Kendell, executive director of the National Center for Lesbian Rights, released this statement.

"On Tuesday, the California Supreme Court will issue its ruling in our Prop. 8 legal challenge. We brought this case on behalf of Equality California and six couples who urgently wish to retain the freedom to marry in California, but the Court's decision will mean so much more to so many -- to same-sex couples in California and in states across the country, to those who advocate for minority rights, and to all those who care about equality. The Court's decision will determine whether or not Prop. 8 is valid, and whether or not the more than 18,000 marriages that took place between June 16 and November 4, 2008, will continue to be legally valid and recognized by the State of California."

Well, here we go again.

2010 The Year of the Forced Religious Beliefs

Sometimes I just don't know about these people.

Rep. Paul Broun wants to make a congressional resolution. Not for health care or to abolish student loans, but to make 2010, The Year of the Bible.

Why? Well, he believes that the good book played an important role in the shaping the United States.

Then he adds:
including providing the basis for our freedom of religion that allows Muslims, Hindus and even atheists to vocalize their own beliefs.

Paul, stay off the glue sticks, please.

Several of his co-workers are not feelings this at all.

“Does that mean 2009 is not the year of the Bible?” mocked Rep. Barney Frank (D-Mass.), who is Jewish. “What is 2012 the year of? The Quran?”

“That’s an endorsement of religion by the federal government, and we shouldn’t be doing that,” said Rep. Jerrold Nadler (D-N.Y.), even though he has introduced his own legislation dealing with religion.

“Republican lawmakers with apparently too much time on their hands and no solutions to offer the country are pushing a resolution that will not address the nation’s problems or advance prosperity or even untangle their previous governing mistakes,” blogged the Progressive Puppy.

Buffy - Substance + Malarkey = The Vampire Diaries

This is a pic from the Twilight rip-off, The Vampire Diaries. I will give this show a half a season at best.

By the strength of Gorilla Grodd... Why am I tortured so?

Oh, I still will love Ian Somerhalder after this.

The Biggest Gang Takedown in History

This is very disturbing to hear, but it's all over town.

A Latino street gang waged a racist campaign to eliminate the city's black residents through attempted murders and other crimes, according to federal racketeering indictments unsealed Thursday.

Five indictments charged a total of 147 members and associates of the Varrio Hawaiian Gardens gang, and federal and local agencies arrested 63 of them by early Thursday, U.S. Attorney Thomas P. O'Brien said at a news conference.

Another 35 defendants were already in custody on unrelated charges. Weapons and drugs worth more than $1 million also were seized in what O'Brien called "the largest gang takedown in United States history."

The indictments detail attempted murder, kidnapping, firearms, narcotics and other charges related to attacks by the gang, which is predominantly Latino and mainly operates in Hawaiian Gardens, a city of about 15,000 in southeastern Los Angeles County.

"(Varrio Hawaiian Gardens) gang members take pride in their racism and often refer to the VHG Gang as the `Hate Gang,'" the main indictment said. "VHG gang members have expressed a desire to rid the city of Hawaiian Gardens of all African-Americans and have engaged in a systematic effort to achieve that result by perpetrating crimes against African-Americans."

I don't even know what to think. This is so sad, foolish and crazy in so many ways. I hope that this incident don't pull our communities apart. We have to rise above this mess.

Marie Speaks about her Gay Kid

That's my Marie.

Reason for Carrie Prejean's Gay statement? HER MOM

Pure gossip to start the day.

The rumor is Carrie Prejean's mom is gay and there's someone to prove it.

Valerie Vetrano, from Corona, Calif., claims she had a lesbian relationship with her.

"I did date her," she told ABCNews.com Wednesday evening. "I'm not going to deny it, but I'm not going to say anything else."

It's juicy trash indeed...I wonder how the media will play this up? See Carrie, sticking to your guns will get you shot in the back.

White House LGBT Announcements may be coming soon

This is not big, big news, but at least it's something. California Rep. Howard Berman thinks the White House may be providing some interesting info regarding LGBT policies sometime soon.

“I think the White House is preparing to make an announcement on a number of issues,” he said, declining to go into detail. “I’m predicting here, not informing, that by the Stonewall anniversary we will have a very clear picture of what the administration is doing.”

Will this be the info everybody wants to hear (DOMA & DADT)? Or more of the same. I guess we will see in June.

New Trailer: V

Is a National LGBT March on the way?

I just read from several blogs about the National LGBT March. David Mixner and Cleve Jones are on board and ready to go.

From David's blog, he states:

Our freedom can't be negotiated in the political offices of the White House and in the halls of Congress. Our goal is not to make their path easier but to ensure that young LGBT citizens will not be beaten, denied the right to serve, have their love demeaned in some sort of separate but equal system or excluded from giving their gifts and talents freely to this nation. At this moment, there is very little movement on any of these issues in the White House and it appears that some even believe we should be happy with just hate crimes legislation being passed this year.

I adore President Obama but not enough to allow his team to delay my freedom for political convenience or comfort. It is unacceptable.

My plea is for our LGBT leaders to call a March on Washington for Marriage Equality this November and if they won't do it, I appeal to our young to come together and provide the leadership.

Cleve had this to say (via Towleroad):

I applaud and endorse David Mixner's call for a national march with the following four suggestions:

— Schedule the march for the weekend of October 10 - 11, 2009. This is National Coming Out Day and the 30th anniversary of the first national march. Several subsequent marches and AIDS Memorial Quilt displays have also occurred on those dates. The Columbus Day holiday provides a three-day weekend for many and the weather is generally favorable.

— Have one demand only: “Full Equality Now - full and equal protection under the law for LGBT people in all matters governed by civil law in all 50 states.” Let's stop settling for fractions of equality. Every compromise undermines our humanity. We must declare our equality.

— Organize the march from the grassroots with a decentralized internet-based campaign. Keep it simple; avoid bloated budgets and cumbersome structures. The primary objective must be to turn out the largest possible crowd. We don't need elaborate and expensive staging or fabulous dinner parties and concerts - we need a million or more people in the street demanding equality now.

— Encourage and enlist our allies in the broader progressive movement to build the march. Involve the labor movement, racial, ethnic and immigrant communities, progressive faith leaders, peace and social justice advocates and other supporters. LGBT people of all ages and races recognize the challenges facing our nation and our planet. We are eager to stand, as equals, with our fellow citizens in meeting these challenges.

We are on the verge of a new chapter in the history of our country and our movement. There is a bold new spirit and a powerful new resolve within our communities. Now is the time. We are equal.

Okay, good stuff. Now comes the questions.

Are we really ready for this? This ain't a pride event or Folsom, this our reality. People have to be ready to roll with this.

What are the plans? Yes, Cleve laid out some things... but how would we put those suggestions into action?

Will folks show up? I know they will, but will it be effective? Will we have the visibility needed to make an impact?

And is this the right time?

I'm curious to know what y'all think. A march sounds good, but I also believe we need to think things through. We should feel ready and be ready for this. If we are not solid on the reasons and purpose, this can fail.
