My Top 5 Guilty Pleasure Music Groups
I'm very judgmental about today's music. Seems stupid, lazy and non-inspirational. However, there are a few music groups that I love, even though their lyrics and craziness is over the top.
So to play in the over-share sandbox, I'm putting my favorite guilty pleasure groups out on the display after the jump

Last Night at the B. Slade's video shoot...
![]() |
B. Slade, me and Anthony Thomas |
My friend, Logan invited me to a video shoot for B. Slade's SONSHINE 2. If you are not familiar with him, just go here. He is a part of the future of music.
While I was there I was so fortunate to meet Anthony Thomas! Who is he? Well, he is responsible for the choreography of RHYTHM NATION! I was speechless! When I talking to him, I told him how I tried to learn the moves. I never learned the moves, but I had fun trying all those times. However, I do have a quick video of these two of them breaking it down.
The night was a great LA night. More chatting, pics and great music from B. Slade. I'm telling you, if you don't know him... know him.

Question of the Day

B.Slade |
My friend Howard always showcase some of the best gay artists out there on his blog, but many gays couldn't tell you anything about them.
Why is that? Why are we not supporting them like Gaga?

B. Slade is the NOW.NEW.NEXT and FOREVER in Music
Last night, I had the pleasure of hearing B. Slade live and uninhibited at Zanzibar in Santa Monica. Y'all, I can't tell you how talented this man is. His voice is out of control!
Before, B. Slade performed, there were several acts that got you in mood for a party, but once he hit the stage, you knew a show was about to happen.
B. Slade started out with his version of A Man's World. It was very moving, blending in soul and old school techniques you barely hear in today's music. And then he was able to include Alicia Keys' Fallin' in the mix. I hate that song, but B. Slade made it work for me. Hell, I even have a new appreciation for it.
Then, he gave us a powerful performance of Get Over You. B. Slade tore this song up and I was totally feelin' it. What B. Slade did to this song is epic, y'all. EPIC!
B. Slade is the future of music, especially in the LGBT world. I have been slightly turned off by LGBT music, mostly the dance stuff. But B. Slade brings it for reals. He is what Adam Lambert, Ari Gold and others should be... A mega talent MOFO! I hope he returns to L.A. with a full show, so he can show the children how it REALLY done!
Please check out his website, here

Hidden Gay Gem: I Was Born This Way - Carl Bean

Last night, Miss Gaga revealed the title of her new CD, I Was Born This Way.
It's a cute title, however I was introduce to a song from 70s that has same title, same purpose.

Carl Bean created this great anthem and just hearing it puts a smile on my face. So check it out:
I already have it on my iPod.
thanks, Derrick

Leave Erykah alone Fox News
There was some drama over Erykah new video, 'Window Seat'.
She walked around naked at the site of JFK's assassination and pretended to be shot at the end of the video.
She was fine $500 for it, but she says she didn't mean any harm. If you know Erykah's work, she usually 'goes there', however Fox News' heifer in charge, Megyn Kelly wants to boycott Erykah.
Whatever, Fox... Oh, Erykah's CD is the bomb!

Days of Pre-Gay Youth
Surfing the nets, I found this diddy on D-listed, Emotions by Samantha Sang.
I love this song, I mean I love this song.
As a kid, my gay cousin and I would put on our Aunt Versie's wigs and sing this song in the mirror.
My cousin even created a smoky theme using steam by running the shower.
We would do Emotions or Lead Me On by Maxine Nightingale

Question of the Day

Adam Lambert has a CD in the works, but I wonder...Will it be any good?
Let's face it, most gay music sucks. Have you seen Logo's Poplab or the NOWNEWNEXT (or however it written)? The videos and songs are horrid, Jem and The Stingers have better songs than that mess.
Anyway, thinking about AI's track record and the super hype besetting Adam, I'm not sure if he can pull it off.
I fear it will be that electronic/autotune/Madonna-ish crap. Please prove me wrong, Adam!

Dr. Dolly!

My favorite southern belle, Dolly Parton got her a Ph.D.
"Just think, I am Dr. Dolly!" she said Friday after receiving an honorary doctorate of humane and musical letters from the University of Tennessee in Knoxville.
Always joking about her buxom figure, she added, "So when people say something about 'Double-D,' they will be thinking of something entirely different."
The audience of 1,069 new graduates from the College of Arts and Sciences roared with laughter and gave Parton a standing ovation.
Parton, a Tennessee native who is the fourth of 12 children from a poor Appalachian family, is well-known for her philanthropic work. Her Imagination Library sends a book to about 500,000 children each month from birth until they start school.
She deserves it

Interesting Quotes: Wendy and Lisa

Did you first think Prince was gay?
Lisa: He was little and kinda prissy and everything. But he’s so not gay.
Wendy: He’s a girl, for sure, but he’s not gay. He looked at me like a gay woman would look at another woman.
Lisa: Totally. He’s like a fancy lesbian.
Wendy: I remember being at that “Sexuality” video shoot and him on stage with that little black jacket and that tie thing around his neck and his black pants with white buttons on the side. And we looked at each other for the first time and I thought, “Oh, I could so fall in love with that girl easy.” It doesn’t matter what sexuality, gender you are. You’re in the room with him and he gives you that look and you’re like, “Okay, I’m done. It’s over.” He’s Casanova. He’s Valentino.
A piece from their interview with Out, discussing Prince, their relationship and their sexuality.
