trump will keep Obama's protections for LGBT workers

Rumors about trump's LGBT EO popped off yesterday.

Now, The New York Times reports

In a statement issued in response to growing questions about whether Mr. Trump would reverse the Obama order, the White House said the president was proud to embrace gay rights.

“President Trump continues to be respectful and supportive of L.G.B.T.Q. rights, just as he was throughout the election,” the statement said. “The president is proud to have been the first ever G.O.P. nominee to mention the L.G.B.T.Q. community in his nomination acceptance speech, pledging then to protect the community from violence and oppression.”

The decision to keep the order, the statement added, was Mr. Trump’s. It uses stronger language than any Republican president has before in favor of equal legal protections for gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender people, though that is not likely to quiet Mr. Trump’s critics on the left.
Does it mean we're off the hook? No, we need to be ready.

Dave Daubenmire Calls Male March On Washington Participant A ‘Sissy’

NOM's begging for money again

Lord, Brian Brown is back, sending messy emails:
The left, including LGBT extremists, are frantically watching this process unfold because they know that it is only a matter of time before new justices join the Court and are in a position to unravel prior decisions that have no basis in constitutional law — most especially Roe v Wade inventing a right to abortion and the Obergefell decision imposing gay ‘marriage’ on the nation.

That is why many of these extremists are demanding that Democrats refuse to allow any Trump nominee to be confirmed unless that individual pledges to follow a liberal path. We are going to have a titanic battle ahead of us for control of the Supreme Court and, by extension, control over the future direction of our country for a generation or more. Please do your part to make sure we are in a position to win the coming battle.

It’s unfortunate that some conservatives have begun to pick apart the list and criticize some individuals as not being worthy of appointment. That serves no purpose except to indirectly embolden the left. If the left can parlay criticism of a particular pick from some conservatives, then their nakedly partisan attempts to torpedo any nominee will have some cover.

Let me be clear — NOM is prepared to fight vigorously for any nominee on Mr. Trump’s list of potential appointees. Recently, some people close to the president have suggested that the pick will be one of the current justices on a court of appeals because those individuals have already survived a Senate confirmation vote. There are seven such individuals on the Trump list, and all would be excellent.

Interesting Quote: Conservative radio host Hugh Hewitt on trump Impeachment

“I think it would occur after midterms and only if the House flips to the Democrats. So the potential is there, yes. If you abuse power, if you do anything — you don’t have a lot of goodwill in the reservoir. He’s beginning his presidency successfully in my view with a few very bold initiatives but with the highest negatives of any incoming president since Gallup kept track. That says to me: thin ice, move carefully.”

MOONLIGHT has 8 Oscar Nominations

I'm so happy to see that Moonlight has 8 nominations, including Best Picture!!!!

This is huge because it's a movie about being Black and gay, without the cheesy, messy, tacky stories. I'm so excited for this!

Hidden Figures was also nominated and Fences for Best Picture too.

Queen Viola Davis just became the first black actress to get 3 nominations (which is sad) and congrats to Ruth Negga for her first nomination for Best Actress in Loving.

I'm really excited to watch the Oscars now. See all of the nominations here

Assange lawyer: Manning commutation doesn't meet extradition offer's conditions (Bitch, please)

As many of you know, I hate Julian Assange.

Yesterday, Chelsea Manning's sentence was reduced by President Obama. Before that happened, Assange offer to be extradited to the United States if Manning were pardoned. Well, like the snake he is, Assange backs out.

The lawyer for Julian Assange said President Obama’s commutation of Chelsea Manning’s sentence does not meet the conditions of the WikiLeaks head’s offer to be extradited to the United States if Manning were pardoned. Obama on Tuesday commuted Manning’s sentence for leaking diplomatic cables to WikiLeaks, leading many to wonder whether that meant Assange was ready to surrender to the Department of Justice.

“Mr. Assange welcomes the announcement that Ms. Manning’s sentence will be reduced and she will be released in May, but this is well short of what he sought,” said Barry Pollack, Assange’s U.S.-based attorney, via email. “Mr. Assange had called for Chelsea Manning to receive clemency and be released immediately.”

President Obama Commutes a Bulk of Chelsea Manning’s Sentence

Interesting news from NYTimes

President Obama on Tuesday largely commuted the remaining prison sentence of Chelsea Manning, the army intelligence analyst convicted of an enormous 2010 leak that revealed American military and diplomatic activities across the world, disrupted the administration, and made WikiLeaks, the recipient of those disclosures, famous.

The decision by Mr. Obama rescued Ms. Manning, who twice tried to commit suicide last year, from an uncertain future as a transgender woman incarcerated at the male military prison at Fort Leavenworth, Kan. She has been jailed for nearly seven years, and her 35-year sentence was by far the longest punishment ever imposed in the United States for a leak conviction.

Now, under the terms of Mr. Obama’s commutation announced by the White House on Tuesday, Ms. Manning is set to be freed in five months, on May 17 of this year, rather than in 2045.

FBI Arrest Pulse Nightclub Killer's Wife

Yesterday, the feds arrested Noor Salman, the wife of Omar Mateen, the Pulse Nightclub killer. She was charged with obstructing justice.

USA Today reports
The law enforcement official, who was not authorized to speak publicly about the case, told USA TODAY Salman will likely face her first court appearance Tuesday. The charge could indicate that authorities believe she knew more about Mateen’s plan than she has previously admitted. CBS News said Salman also faces a charge of aiding and abetting.

Salman, in interviews with federal investigators after the shooting, allegedly acknowledged driving Mateen to the Pulse nightclub at least once before her husband launched the assault. But she told the Times in November she was unaware of his true intentions until he sent her a 4 a.m. text message the night of the shooting, asking whether she had seen what happened on the news.

Interesting Quote: President Obama

“You see Joe’s heart in the way he consoles families, dealing with cancer, backstage after an event; when he meets kids fighting through a stutter of their own, he gives them his private phone number and keeps in touch with them long after. To know Joe Biden is to know love without pretense, service without self-regard, and to live life fully.

As one of his long-time colleagues in the Senate, who happened to be a Republican, once said, “‘If you can’t admire Joe Biden as a person, you got a problem. He’s as good a man as God ever created.’”

Fox News Secretly Settled Bill O’Reilly Sexual Harassment Allegations

This is some tea

Daily Beast reports that Fox News secretly settled a sexual harassment lawsuit against Bill O'Reilly.

Here's more
The allegations arose in the wake of multiple claims about similar behavior on the part of former Fox News chairman Roger Ailes, who has since been ousted. O'Reilly allegedly pursued a sexual relationship with Juliet Huddy, a former employee, in 2011. At the time, he reportedly exerted influence over her career, and he retaliated against her when she rebuffed his advances. The New York Times reportedly obtained a draft of a letter from her lawyers related to the case. According to the document, on specific occasions, he apparently called her while masturbating. Huddy was allegedly paid a high sum in exchange for her silence. O'Reilly and the company both denied her claims. This isn’t the first time O’Reilly has been involved in a sexual-harassment suit with fellow employees. In 2004, one of his producers, Andrea Mackris, sued him, alleging he made unwanted sexual advances and lewd comments over the phone and during dinner meetings. The firebrand host eventually settled for millions of dollars, according to reports.

READ John Kerry's Formal Apology for State Dept’s Decades of Discrimination

Yesterday, Secretary of State John Kerry released a formal apology for the decades of discrimination by the State Department against LGBTQ/I employees and job applicants.

Throughout my career, including as Secretary of State, I have stood strongly in support of the LGBTI community, recognizing that respect for human rights must include respect for all individuals. LGBTI employees serve as proud members of the State Department and valued colleagues dedicated to the service of our country. For the past several years, the Department has pressed for the families of LGBTI officers to have the same protections overseas as families of other officers. In 2015, to further promote LGBTI rights throughout the world, I appointed the first ever Special Envoy for the Human Rights of LGBTI Persons.

In the past – as far back as the 1940s, but continuing for decades – the Department of State was among many public and private employers that discriminated against employees and job applicants on the basis of perceived sexual orientation, forcing some employees to resign or refusing to hire certain applicants in the first place. These actions were wrong then, just as they would be wrong today.

On behalf of the Department, I apologize to those who were impacted by the practices of the past and reaffirm the Department’s steadfast commitment to diversity and inclusion for all our employees, including members of the LGBTI community.

At the Golden Globes: Janelle Monae "At the end of the day, we all bleed the same color"

Last night, Janelle Monae responded to a question about Kim Burrell's foolishness.

She said:
"I’m pro-love. I’ve been very supportive of love. At the end of the day, I think that no matter where you come from and who you love, you deserve to have a right to the American dream and to also have your story told. And so I’m so thankful to be part of this true American story. I’m thankful to be part of a cast and a director who is pro-inclusion. I just think anybody who is representing hate is a part of the problem, and I hope that we can learn from each other and be more empathetic of one another. And I hope that we can all remember, at the end of the day, we all bleed the same color.”

Lord, the Head of Coachella has donated to Anti-LGBTQ and Climate Denial Groups

I was so happy to hear that Beyonce was headlining Coachella and then I read this...

The festival’s billionaire owner, Philip Anschutz has donated to Anti-LGBTQ organizations and denies climate change.

Here's more
Anschutz’s track record with the LGBTQ community is especially dubious, as he has donated hundreds of thousands of dollars to anti-gay organizations and supported anti-gay legislation such as Colorado’s Amendment 2, which sought to enable private property owners and employers to discriminate against homosexuals and lesbians. According to the Washington Post, Anschutz has contributed funds to the Alliance Defending Freedom, the National Christian Foundation, and the Family Research Council, all of which staunchly oppose LGBTQ rights.

But Anschutz’s crusade against gay rights is only the tip of the iceberg in terms of his anti-liberal agenda. As Greenpeace notes, he also supports the quack science of climate-change denial through his foundation and regularly meets to discuss strategy with the Koch brothers, two of the country’s leading anti-environmentalist activists. Other causes Anschutz has leant his support to include weakening of labor unions and challenging evolutionary science.
I wonder if these performers know about this?

50 Trump Electors were Illegitimately Seated as Electoral College Members

Lord...

I saw this on Alternet...
More than 50 Electoral College members who voted for Donald Trump were ineligible to serve as presidential electors because they did not live in the congressional districts they represented or held elective office in states legally barring dual officeholders.

That stunning finding is among the conclusions of an extensive 1,000-plus page legal briefing prepared by a bipartisan nationwide legal team for members of Congress who are being urged to object to certifying the 2016 Electoral College results on Friday.

“Trump’s ascension to the presidency is completely illegitimate,” said Ryan Clayton of Americans Take Action, who is promoting the effort. “It’s not just Russians hacking our democracy. It’s not just voter suppression at unprecedented levels. It is also [that] there are Republicans illegally casting ballots in the Electoral College, and in a sufficient number that the results of the Electoral College proceedings are illegitimate as well.”

“Republicans like to talk all the time about people voting illegally,” Clayton continued. “We have a list of a bunch of Republicans that allegedly voted illegally in the Electoral College. Pam Bondi is the attorney general of the state of Florida and the Florida Constitution says that you cannot hold two offices. And she holds the office of Attorney General and she holds the office of federal elector in the Electoral College. That is a violation of the law. That is a violation of the Constitution. And the vote that she cast in this election is illegal.”
This presidency is pure trash

I'm Not Ready For This

Megyn Kelly is Leaving Fox News for NBC

I knew it!

Miss Kelly is leaving Fox for better things? Maybe?

Word is she's leaving Fox for NBC! Why? Well, looking back at her troubles with Roger and trump, it makes sense. Plus, was offered a triple role in hosting her own daytime news, anchor an in-depth Sunday night news show and covering the network’s special political programming.

Here's more:
The new deal, which NBC is expected to announce imminently, brings to a close the most anticipated television news contract negotiations since Katie Couric signed with CBS News in 2006, for $15 million a year.

Fox News’s parent company, 21st Century Fox, which is controlled by the family of Rupert Murdoch, had offered Ms. Kelly more than $20 million a year to stay after her current contract expires this year. Rival networks seeking to hire Ms. Kelly away, including NBC News, had made it clear that they could not match that money from Fox, the cable news leader for the last 15 years running.

Ms. Kelly’s contract is not officially up until the summer, and it was unclear whether Fox News would refuse to release her from any contractual commitments that might delay her start at a rival.

UPDATED House GOP votes to Gut Independent Ethics Office

UPDATE

Following major outcry from the public, House Republicans reversed course changes to the independent Office of Congressional Ethics. House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) offered a motion to restore the current OCE rules.

This is disgusting.

Yesterday, the House Republicans voted to gut the Office of Congressional Ethics. This office was created to investigate allegations of misconduct by lawmakers after several bribery and corruption scandals back in the 90s.

Without this office, lawmakers can do whatever... Almost.

Here's more:
The ethics change, which prompted an outcry from Democrats and government watchdog groups, is part of a rules package that the full House will vote on Tuesday. The package also includes a means for Republican leaders to punish lawmakers if there is a repeat of the Democratic sit-in last summer over gun control.

Under the ethics change pushed by Rep. Bob Goodlatte, R-Va., the non-partisan Office of Congressional Ethics would fall under the control of the House Ethics Committee, which is run by lawmakers. It would be known as the Office of Congressional Complaint Review, and the rule change would require that "any matter that may involve a violation of criminal law must be referred to the Committee on Ethics for potential referral to law enforcement agencies after an affirmative vote by the members," according to Goodlatte's office.

Lawmakers would have the final say under the change. House Republicans voted 119-74 for the Goodlatte measure despite arguments from Speaker Paul Ryan, R-Wis., and Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy, R-Calif., against the change. They failed to sway rank-and-file Republicans, some of whom have felt unfairly targeted by the OCE.
Mess!

Wow!

The other day in Pasadena, CA., this interesting message appeared in the sky.

It was not immediately clear who was behind the airborne protest, targeting Republican presidential front-runner Donald Trump, which coincided with the end of the New Year's Day event that draws hundreds of thousands of visitors to Pasadena, north of Los Angeles.

A spokeswoman for the Trump campaign did not immediately respond to an email seeking comment. The billionaire businessman is seeking his party's nomination for the November presidential election.

Security on the ground for the parade had been tight, with some 700,000 spectators expected to throng the 5-1/2-mile (9-km) route of the 127th Tournament of Roses Parade, which is followed by the 102nd Rose Bowl college football game.

Trump spokesman thinks we should forget Russian Hacking and ‘Punish’ Clinton

Quick Recap of the Kim Burrell Drama

Over the weekend, gospel singer Kim Burrell said some stupid and hateful things about us. I'm not posting the video because it's totally ridic, however, she learned a valuable lesson about crossing us.

The gays took to social media and let Kim know that she truly f**ked up.

What's also f**ked up, is that she was supposed to appear on ELLEN to sing a song from the movie, HIDDEN FIGURES with Pharrell Williams. Once he heard about her foolishness, he quickly pulled the plug.

Then, the stars of HIDDEN FIGURES came out to denounce Kim's hate speech.

Janelle Monae took to Instagram to let her know a thing or two:
I shouldn’t even have to post this as you guys should already know where I stand but If you do not pls know I unequivocally repudiate ANY AND ALL hateful comments against the LGBTQ community. Actually I’m tired of that label. We all belong to the same community, a shared community called humanity. And today and tomorrow and the next day I will continue to stand with other like minded people who condemn any and all statements and actions that would seek to deny the basic humanity of our fellow brothers and sisters. We cannot sit Idly by nor will we speak silently when we are confronted with such violence against members of our community. I am personally beyond exhausted by the ignorance and bigotry living in some people. At times I want to punch and I want to slap a lot of people when I read and hear the shit that comes out their mouthes !!! I will rejoice when folks stop thinking they ARE GOD, Jesus’ assistant, picking and choosing what “sins” are acceptable in the Bible, and using the Bible as a whip! WE can’t afford anymore tearing down of our shared humanity. My advice: If your religion is causing you to spew out words of hate, judge, or look down on others because of who one loves then you need to change it. And fast. If the religion don’t make you are more loving or better person, ditch it. But what do I know. My hope is that we ALL go into this new year considering for one moment that we don’t have all the answers. My hope is that we become more understanding, less judgmental, more tolerate, and more patient with one another. Including me. HAPPY NEW YEAR.
