I called it! CW is on probation!

The Wall Street Journal online is putting something out in the open. Apparently my views of CW are not in vain. Check out some of the info they are talking about.

The network has lost about 28% of its target audience of 18 to 34 year olds so far this season. Its ratings during this month's "sweeps" period -- the all-important measure upon which future advertising rates are set -- are down about 22%.

Advertisers eager to reach a young demographic initially clamored to sign on to the CW, but have since cooled to the network. Steven Kalb, director of broadcast media for media-buying firm MediaHub, owned by Interpublic Group, says there were high hopes for the network when last year's lineup was unveiled. Now, he says, "It has collapsed."

Part of the problem is that the CW's young audience is most prone to spend leisure time on the Internet. Last winter's Hollywood writers' strike, which forced scripted shows off the air for three months, hastened the defection of viewers to the Web.

CW executives attribute the network's poor ratings performance not to a lack of viewers but to flaws in the system of measure. "Obviously, we would have liked to do better," Ms. Ostroff said this week. "Our young audience certainly knows how to get their content in different ways, and we have to figure out different ways to measure how they're getting it."

So time and time again, I've mentioned this and it doesn't take a smart person to figure this mess out. Because I am a type-A who loves lists, I will tell you, CW, why you are failing. And if someone knows anybody from the CW, forward this blog to them

• Stop with the rich white kids! It outdated and it's tired! You have three of your main shows in fall all about the same thing, RICH WHITE KIDS. Does that make sense?
• Add color back to your screen. You got rid of your shows of color. You are truly CW, the Completely White network. I will sic the NAACP on you to change up your format.
• We don't want to see teens in every drama, that's what Nickelodeon is for.
• And if you're going to put teens in drama, get some fresh ideas. Think about the issues that are affecting kids of today, maybe that can help you with real stories.
• Men watch TV too! This "women only" plan will fail.
• The 28% you lost were probably the men, people of color, and people with common sense.
• Get some real dramas, like stories about single mothers, the lower class, some sci-fi, and a gay soap opera.
• Quit hiring 20 year-olds to create your TV shows.

I'm done telling CW what they should do, however if they paid me I would gladly get their 28% back in abundance!

Are the imcomplete college attending, poor Whites the new black?

Usually the Dems and Repubs got to pull all the stops to court Black voters. Now, they are breaking their necks to get the "non college attending, hardworking" Whites in their corner.
But is this wise?
Are they sending a fraked up message to the public?

Before I begin, I'm not saying that everyone who didn't go to college is "uneducated". I know that the circumstances are different for folks and everyone's not college bound. However, I think it speaks poorly of our nation when we almost celebrate in the "academically challenged".

Yesterday, Hellhound Hillary called out her Brotherhood of Mutants, recognizing that she has uneducated or non college attending Whites at her side. She also said that Obama's losing his appeal on the hardworking Whites. But is that a bad thing? I think it's bad to label them like she did, however it raises interesting issues. How did they become big players in this election? I guess it was evident for the past 8 years. They put Bush back in office, hoping to end gayness, and abortion. But in the end, they were made fools of. Why? Because it's too easy to do.

Dr Rove knew this before and played the religious, fear, secret racial card every time. And every time it worked. And they never got new jobs, we (gays) are still on the planet, and God's no closer to us than before. In fact the poor Whites was practically told "you don't really matter, unless we need you to". So I thought we all learned a lesson. But we didn't, Dems are using this tactic as well. And the funny part is, it's working again!!!

How can Hillary, who went to Yale, lived the good life for over 30 years claim she is just like the middle class? Oh, and the money, let talk about the 100 million dollars the Clintons got back in taxes. And yet, she's suppose to be working class. But guess what, they (blue collar, middle class, her crew) believed her and supported her! Claiming she's just like them, no honey, she's not. Taking a shot of whiskey and shooting a gun doesn't make her special, and it shouldn't make anyone think that's all we need in a leader.

Honestly, if I had a Ivy degree and super vocabulary, I think I would want my people to understand me. I hope that didn't offend anyone reading this but I'm so lost with this notion. As a leader, I would want my followers to be on point and I would encourage them to think about how and why they are used in this manner. Then, I would ask them to get out of the "uneducated" category. They shouldn't feel good about being placed in that block and they shouldn't want to stay there.
So please, GET OUT of there.

Clothes or Social Distortion

For many years, A&F has bothered me with their existence. Their stores and imagery almost represent most of the isms out there. Then their prices are way out there, yet people still love them. And that's fine, but I still have issue with them.

One reason revolves around the hiring practices: four years ago, Abercrombie & Fitch was hit with accusations of discrimination against minority employees. A 2004 lawsuit — González, et al. v. Abercrombie & Fitch Case No. 03-2817 US District Court Nor. Cal. — accused the company of discriminating against minority employees by offering desirable positions to White employees. The company lost, paying US$45 million to rejected applicants and involved employees. Then as a reaction, instituted policies and programs that promote diversity in its workforce and advertising campaigns, hired recruiters to seek minority employees, got a Vice President of Diversity, and stop recruiting employees at primarily white Greek systems.

Then there were the T-shirts: In 2002, the smart and talented company paid tribute to Asian people by creating shirts with the slogan "Wong Brothers Laundry Service—Two Wongs Can Make It White" with smiling figures in conical straw hats and slanted eyes. Later, they created shirts that depicted West Virginia as incestuous and this gem, "Who needs brains when you have these?"

And there's the sex: They overly use sex to sell their clothes, blending sexuality and abs into the mix. The A&F Quarterly, which was discontinued in the United States amid protests from family groups and politicians, will be sold in London. They believe it will do well there. I've seen the mag and it's cute, but at the same time it was a big turn off. If I want soft core, I'll just watch Cinemax or Battlestar Galactica. And if I want more, well that's what the internets are for, right?

But A&F try something new, there's a reason why y'all can't get stars to represent the brand. I mean, look at Jaclyn Smith, she's been selling her clothes for years without showing a nipple. In fact, she probably keeping K-Mart alive. So it can be done. And since A&F on my mind, there's a great book called Why I Hate Abercrombie and Fitch: Essays on Race and Sexuality, by Dwight A. McBride. It provides a interesting view of A&F's influence in our culture.

The Wire: The College Years

San Diego State University has suspended six fraternities after a sweeping drug investigation that landed members of three fraternities in jail on suspicion of openly dealing drugs on campus. These frats are:

Theta Chi

Lambda Chi Alpha

Phi Kappa Psi

Phi Kappa Theta

Sigma Alpha Epsilon

Sigma Alpha Mu.

The inquiry -- prompted by the cocaine overdose death last year of a freshman sorority member led to the arrests of 96 people, 75 of them San Diego State students. A second drug death occurred during the investigation.

29 people were arrested early Tuesday in raids at 9 locations including the Theta Chi fraternity, where agents found cocaine, Ecstasy and three guns. 18 of those arrested were wanted on warrants for selling to undercover agents.

Theta Chi and five other fraternities have been suspended pending a hearing on evidence gathered during the investigation, dubbed Operation Sudden Fall. Some drugs bought and sold by students were traced to gangs linked to Mexican cartels, according to the DEA. Agents collected about $100,000 worth of drugs that were being advertised in "resale quantities" between members of the fraternity and other students.

And I thought you could get lifetime brotherhood, maybe undercover closeted fun, and awkward tattoo. This is something else, I tell you.

Vote for Confusion '08

Sometimes I get lost in the news about Clinton and Obama. It feels that they are the only two running for office with all the hype they get. But recently, I am seeing this interesting pattern about the voters and their reasoning, for a lack of a better word.

I think there's something to be said about the beliefs of the White and Latino working-class. According to AP-Yahoo poll shows less educated whites present a problem to Obama in part because of who they are. Besides being poorer, they tend to be older than white college graduates — and Clinton has done strongly with older white voters. Also in the exit polls, one in five of the white voters who haven't completed college said race was an important factor in choosing a candidate, about double the number of white college graduates who said so. Eight in 10 of them voted for Clinton over Obama, and only about half said they would vote for Obama over McCain in November.

And the same with Latino voters, however when asked about their reasons why they won't vote for Obama the answer was fascinating. They(or a good chunk of them) think he will only care about the black folks and leave them behind. I almost find that amusing since a large number of them voted for Bush and he did so much for them, and McCain is practically building a fence to keep them out.

I don't get it, I don't understand the logic. I feel that the working-class people suffer the most and yet, it seems their ignorance gets in the way of their logical thinking. I don't want to say that, but that's how it feels. I also feel classist, due to my education and my income, for believing this sometimes. But why is race such a huge factor, why do the less educated folks seem to not get it, and why does everyone suffer when they don't get it. I know I sound like a hater, but it just baffles me. They tend to hold on to issues that are very minor, like in this statement:

"It's the stuff about his preacher ... and the thing he said about Pennsylvania towns, how they turn to religion," Keith Wolfe, 41, a supermarket food stocker from Parkville, Md., said in a follow-up interview. "I don't think he'd be a really good leader."

I'm sorry Keith, those issues are nothing to be overly concern with. Rev. Wright can't do anything to this country. And he's nothing compared to the phony preachers we endured all this years, including the scandals and embezzlement. Then the statement about the guns and religion is the harsh truth. I realized that most people hate hearing the truth about themselves. My mama told me that the hardest thing to do is to look into the the mirror. That what Obama did, he just held the mirror up to the faces of the working class. Hillary did it to, only she used the truth against them.

Face it, people, it's time to challenge yourselves. Don't hate on Obama because he told you the truth. Own it, accept it. I lived in the South for most of my life, and saw how people turn to faith and guns for safety and security. My Grandmama bought my mama and my aunts guns, and she had a pistol and a rifle. It's hard to think about losing the election again, because people are too blind to face their own ignorance and fears. It's almost selfish and yet, another harsh look at our reality. Ignorance is bliss and very powerful. And it can cost us everything.
