Lawmakers discuss the "Tennessee Natural Marriage Defense Act" UPDATE
In my home state, lawmakers are discussing the Tennessee Natural Marriage Defense Act. This bill's purpose is to null and void all same-sex marriages in the state. Why are they doing this mess? I don't know, considering how they will be sued in a federal court.
Anywho, check it out here. And thanks to the folks back home for telling me about this
UPDATE After 90 minutes of mess, the Tennessee House Committee voted down the anti-gay marriage bill.

As President, Marco Rubio will overturn Same Sex Marriage - VIDEO
If you can't see the video, Marco said this about overturning the law:
“I disagree with it on constitutional grounds. As I have said–I think it’s bad law. And for the following reason. If you want to change the definition of marriage, then you need to go to state legislatures and get them to change it. Because states have always defined marriage. And that’s why some people get married in Las Vegas by an Elvis impersonator. And in Florida, you have to wait a couple days when you get your permit. Every state has different marriage laws. But I do not believe that the court system was the right way to do it.”
On creating an amendment:
“As I’ve said, that would be conceding that the current Constitution is somehow wrong and needs to be fixed. I don’t think the current Constitution gives the federal government the power to regulate marriage. That belongs at the state and local level. And that’s why if you want to change the definition of marriage, which is what this argument is about--It’s not about discrimination. It is about the definition of a very specific, traditional, and age-old institution. That definitional change, if you want to change it, you have a right to petition your state legislature and your elected representatives to do it. What is wrong is that the Supreme Court has found this hidden constitutional right that 200 years of jurisprudence had not discovered and basically overturn the will of voters in Florida where over 60 percent passed a constitutional amendment that defined marriage in the state constitution as the union of one man and one woman.”

Interesting Quote: Marco Rubio
Rubio on Gay Marriage
“The debate is about how do you define an institution, the institution of marriage, which has been defined the same way for all of human history. That’s what the debate is about. It’s not about discriminating against anyone. The debate is about how do you define an institution.”Hmm, okay.

In Tennessee: lawmakers create a bill to Deny Same-Sex Marriage
Lord, Tennessee.
Two fools, or state representatives, introduced a bill called the "Tennessee Natural Marriage Defense Act."
This bill will not recognize gay marriage as legal. In fact, it says that laws, policy and judicial interpretations that don't define marriage as a contract between one man and one woman "is contrary to the public policy of this state and shall be void and unenforceable in Tennessee."
These fools also believe that SCOTUS forced a "lawless opinion" that isn't based in American law or history. So, basically, they are making shit up and hope it passes. This act is illegal and won't pass, but I'm sure they will try.

In North Carolina: County Magistrates Opt Out of Performing Marriages
Wow, McDowell County....
Their religious exemption law, which allows any magistrate to opt out of performing any and all marriages based upon any religious objection, is fully in effect.
The officials in that county are NOT performing any marriages there. In fact, they are shipping magistrates from other counties.
Newsweek reports:
The magistrates invoked their rights not to perform marriages under the state’s religious exemption law, which allows every magistrate “the right to recuse from performing all lawful marriages…based upon any sincerely held religious objection.” “Every single one has said they will opt out and won’t do the marriages,” Chief District Judge Randy Pool told local television station WLOS. A Rutherford County magistrate told WLOS that he and another magistrate have been driving back and forth three times a week to perform marriages in McDowell. State law requires the county to provide magistrates to perform marriages a minimum of 10 hours per week.

Kentucky Clerk still defies the Law as She refuses to give a Marriage License to a Gay Couple
County Clerk Kim Davis made the news because she refused to give a gay couple a marriage license. Although, the right to marry is the law in Kentucky, Kim still refused. She claimed her Christian duty was being violated or some bullsh*t.
Well, she tried to take her crappy excuse to court and they basically rained on her parade. A federal judge ruled that in despite of her religious feelings, she had to issue marriage licenses to same-sex couples. U.S. District Court Judge David Bunning told Kim that she can praise God all day, everyday, but since she took an oath to be a clerk... She has to follow the law.
Yes, Kim was defeated realized that the law is on our side. But that didn't stop this heifer from acting out. Just today, Kim refused to issue a same-sex couple a marriage license. Kim's holding out because she filed an appeal to the judge's decision. I don't know if she understood the judge, but she has to follow the law. I guess she's thinking she doing the Lord's work.
Well, Kim, girl... You keep thinking that as you stand in the unemployment line for your beliefs.

Brian Brown: Fox News doesn't care about Traditional Marriage
Brian went on NOM's blog to whine about the gay marriage questions during the Fox News debate. If you tuned in, it seemed that folks are moving on and don't care about gay marriage like NOM does.
This is what he said:
"The nation watched the first debate of the presidential cycle this week, as Fox News hosted the affair from Cleveland on Thursday evening. As many NOM supporters have observed, the mainstream media rarely treats the marriage issue with the importance it deserves, and even Fox News has been reluctant to give it fair and balanced coverage. Regrettably, this was evident in their handling of the marriage issue during the presidential debate. Only two candidates were asked about marriage, and it was phrased in an adversarial way, pitting support for traditional marriage as being at odds with support for a gay family member. How ridiculous! Sadly, when it came to the marriage issue, Fox News bumbled badly. We hope that future debates will give the candidates a fuller opportunity to expound on their views about protecting marriage and the actions they will take as president to reverse the illegitimate ruling of the Supreme Court. NOM is committed to helping the American people separate out the marriage champions from the pretenders by issuing our Presidential Marriage Pledge. A number of candidates have signed onto our pledge, and we will be announcing those names soon."Brian, face it... You have LOST!

Interesting Quote: John Kasich
"Look, I'm an old-fashioned person here and I happen to believe in traditional marriage. But I've also said that the court has ruled … and I said we'll accept it. And guess what? I just went to a wedding of a friend of mine who happens to be gay. Because somebody doesn't think the way I do doesn't mean that I can't care about them or I can't love them. So if one of my daughters happened to be that, of course I would love them and I would accept them. Because you know what? That's what we're taught when we have strong faith. Issues like that are planted to divide us. I think the simple fact of the matter is — and this is where I would agree with Jeb, and I've been saying it all along — we need to give everybody a chance, treat everybody with respect, and let them share in this great in this great American dream that we have, Megyn. So, look, I'm going to love my daughters. I'm going to love them no matter what they do. Because you know what? God lives me unconditional love. I'm going to give it to my family, and my friends, and the people around me."
John's answer about gay marriage, which received a round of applause.

Interesting Quote: Roy Moore
“When you start teaching kids that they have the right to choose whether they are male or female. When you talk about three or four years old, you know what they think. They don’t know much. They may learn fast. And when they get in their mind they can be a man if they’re a girl or a woman if they are a boy, I don’t know what the end is going to be. Except it will come down to things like when you take your little girl to the girl’s bathroom and you wait outside and you see some guy with hairy legs going into that bathroom, what are you going to do? What are you going to do? Are you going to stand back and let that guy go in the bathroom with your little girl?”source
