Horror movies were at an all time low in 2012.

Cabin in the Woods saved the day, but the rest were sad, sad fails.

My List of The Worst Things of 2012

 There was a lot of mess in our culture this year. It was almost painful to hear and watch, luckily we survived, but we need to reminded of the mess we endured.

Minority Voters Sky-Rocketed in 2012

In the presidential election, more minorities came out to vote. The latest Pew Research poll, revealed that more Blacks voted this year, followed by a high number of Asians and Latinos.

African-Americans made up 12% of the eligible electorate this year, yet they accounted for 13% of total votes cast. This is the second presidential election in a row in which black voters “over-performed” (they did so in 2008 by the same proportion).

Whites’ turnout rate—votes cast as a share of eligible voters—declined in both 2012 and 2008, though whites’ share of the eligible electorate is also shrinking.

Whereas other minority groups have seen increased electoral clout largely because of population growth, blacks’ growing share of the vote in recent presidential elections is due to mounting turnout rates.

More Hispanics and Asian-Americans voted in 2012 than ever before, but their turnout rates continue to lag behind that of the general public.

So no matter much the GOP tried to suppressed the vote, their plans were easily spoiled.

A Dentist is trying his best to put Hillary Clinton on 2012 ballot.

A Chicago dentist has launched the 2012 presidential campaign a smidge early by running a pro-Hillary ad on television, reports CNN. The 30-second spot, paid for by William DeJean, says Clinton has "more experience working in and with the White House than most living presidents" and is "one of the most admired women" in America's history. "Let's make sure the president we should have elected in 2008 will be on the ballot in 2012," it says.

The $5,000 advertisement has run in New Orleans and may soon hit Washington, New York, and Los Angeles, notes CNN. Clinton, who has said she won't run for president, has not commented on the science fiction-esque spot. As for why DeJean aired it so early, perhaps the ad's final lines are a clue: "Start Now. Where there's a Hill there's a way."

Too bad, that she can't be on the ballot, unless she was a 3rd party. Plus, it would never work; she doesn't want to run again.

Is the release date for Batman 3.

Also, The Avengers, Star Trek 2, and the Spider-Man reboot will be out around that month as well.

So 2012 will be the Year of the Geek.

The emergence of official tea party candidates would be very welcome news in the Obama White House. All at once, a powerful and energetic counterweight to the Democratic establishment would become a splinter group, destroying the unified opposition it has helped to create. A potential electoral majority on the threshold of victory would become two minority factions almost certain to share in defeat, and a movement inspired to stop the big-government agenda would suddenly become its tool.

There's a well-worn path of third-party movements in American history, and it leads straight to a dead end. A cause gathers strength, and its message speaks to millions; then, amid the excitement, a new political party is born, only to perform poorly on Election Day and disappear a cycle or two later.

DADT in 2012?

Military lawyers are saying that 2010 isn't a good year for a DADT repeal.

"Now is not the time," the in-house legal counsel for Adm. Mike Mullen, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, wrote recently in a memorandum obtained by The Associated Press. "The importance of winning the wars we are in, along with the stress on the force, our body of knowledge and the number of unknowns, demand that we act with deliberation."

Joint Chiefs legal advisers recommended delaying the start of the repeal process into 2011, with the Pentagon sending a proposed replacement law to Congress by late summer of that year. That would be after the White House says it will begin bringing troops home from Afghanistan, and a few months before all U.S. forces are due to leave Iraq.

Congress would follow with debate lasting six months to a year, the legal advisers wrote, meaning repeal would be unlikely until 2012. The memo does not spell it out, but that is a presidential election year when Obama will presumably run for a second term. The calendar calculates that the Iraq war would be over and the Afghanistan war smaller before the ban is lifted.

Mullen and other military leaders cautioned last year that repeal of the law must be done carefully so as not to disrupt military cohesion in wartime. Last April, Defense Secretary Robert Gates indicated the process could take years - if it ever happens.

Mullen was unable to get the full backing of other senior uniformed leaders during an unusual meeting of the top officers from each branch of the military last week, U.S. officials said. He is expected to hold a follow-up session within days.

This is so complicated, but I guess when you are untying knots, you going to get kinks.

Why I think 2012 will be a Great Year in Cali

I have posted about California's LGBT groups waiting until 2012 to repeal Prop 8 and gain marriage equality in the state.

However, I wanted to explain why I think this is a great idea. As usual, I will use bullet points.

• Money! This will give time to raise a lot of bucks for ads, buy space, hold events and etc. We can also hold many events that could possibly unify the LGBT groups in the area and state.
• Outreach- One of the biggest mistakes was not reaching out beyond the gayborhoods and ritzy spots. This will give us time to approach communities to help our cause. We will need to go into the places we lost votes or had the poorest support. They need to know who we are.
  
• Allies- We need to build strong allies with other social justice groups. Hell, sometimes the X-Men needed The Avengers for help. We need to hit our opponents from many sides. The stronger and diverse our allies are, the better our attack will be.
• Inclusion- We need to involve ALL of the LGBT community in this fight. Diversity is key.
• Know Thy Enemies- We can learn a lot from our opponents. In their approach, they never splintered. They stayed together and hit hard, we need to do the same.
  
• NY Senate drama should be a lesson for us. There were senators that claimed to be on the "good" side, however they didn't stick to the plan. Within the next 2 years, we can know who's really on our side. We can support the ones who are for us and forget the ones who are not. Also, if we want to get dirty, we can threaten the Senators by withdrawing support (funding).
• Hopefully, within the 2 years, we can unify the CA LGBT groups. We are kind of broken due to hubris and drama over 2010 or 2012 battle. I think once our egos are in check and the main goal is in focus, we can be a Phoenix Force that can push marriage equality forward.

I know peeps hate to "wait" on their rights. However, if it's done right, it's well worth the wait. We have time to get marriage equality in California. If we use this time wisely, there's no way we can lose.

2012 is the Year for Marriage Equality

This is from an email I got today

Dear Viktor,

For the first time in our state’s history, our community has the ability to determine when voters get to vote on our rights. We get to choose the timing of an election on our equality instead of merely reacting to attacks orchestrated by the right wing on a timetable which suits their interests. Some in our community want to go back to the ballot at the soonest possible moment; others want to wait until we are absolutely certain we can win.

Equality California is committed to taking this issue back to the voters at the earliest time that gives us the strongest chance to win back our rights – permanently. It is clear that those who support moving forward in 2010, those who support moving forward in 2012 and those who support waiting until we are confident we are going to win are all passionate about winning marriage back and are dedicated to achieving equality. And we are committed to working with every organization and person, regardless of their view.

After reviewing all the information, research and feedback from our coalition partners and the community-at-large and in view of our aggressive determination and dedication to win marriage back as soon as possible, we support committing our energy, resources and leadership to helping the community win a ballot initiative to restore marriage at the November 2012 election.

Now, some folks are upset and some are pretty pissed off. However, this may be for the best. We need to gather the forces, get our ducks in a row and come out swinging.

They don't want us to venture from a proscribed game plan that mostly originates out of a Washington-based political strategy to gain our freedom. They live in fear that we will move too quickly, make someone uncomfortable and put our political friends in a tough spot. Hera Help Us...More X-Men Spinoffs

I don't if I should laugh or cry. I wish I knew how this madness worked, but I guess money talks and...well y'all know the rest.

Here's the breaks

Twentieth Century Fox has begun development on "Deadpool," an "X-Men" spinoff that will be crafted as a star vehicle for Ryan Reynolds, who played the character in "X-Men Origins: Wolverine."

The character is one of the most popular in Marvel Comics' X-Men universe. Deadpool is Wade Wilson, a mercenary who, dying of cancer, submits himself to the Weapon X genetic alteration experiment and emerges as an indestructible semi-sane anti-hero. Reynolds seemed destined to play the character. In one reference in the Marvel Comics, Deadpool is described as a mix between "a Shar Pei and Ryan Reynolds."

Fox is also in the formative stages of a "Wolverine" sequel that will encompass the samurai storyline that was hinted at as Wolverine sat in a bar in Japan as the film concluded (Daily Variety, May 4).

2012...Things will be back to normal (Marvel takes it all back). Am I sure I want to be in this field?

Now...He's just not that in to you, Moose Mess

McCain was asked about supporting his former VP candidate, Sarah Palin, for a 2012 bid.

He said:

"Oh, I'd have to see who the candidates are and what the situation is at the time," he said, adding in the same breath his "respect, admiration and love for Sarah and her family."

He's being nice, but the truth is "no". I don't think he will support her. He saw the mess she brings with her.

And I'm not talking about the kids and pirate husband, I'm talking about the people. Moose Mess brings the worst of America with her and that foolishness cost McCain the presidency.



So I see why he's hesitant to support her. Her drama damn near destroyed him and that is hard to come back from.

No Support for Moose Mess

Yesterday, McCain was asked if he would support a Palin candidacy in 2012. McCain replied:

"I can't say something like that. We've got some great other young governors. I think you're going to see the governors assume a greater leadership role in our Republican Party."

Okay, so he was pressed on the matter and he said:

"Have no doubt of my admiration and respect for her and my view of her viability, but at this stage, again ... my corpse is still warm, you know?"

So in other words, no. No is his answer. What he wanted to say was,

"That heifer cost me everything! Her pirate for a husband, her fast ass daughter, her lack of knowledge, and her witch doctor cost me my only chance for the presidency. Hell naw, I ain't supporting that trollop!"

That what's he wanted to say.
