Interesting Quote: Stephen King

“I read Twilight and didn’t feel any urge to go on with her. I read The Hunger Games and didn’t feel an urge to go on. It’s not unlike The Running Man, which is about a game where people are actually killed and people are watching: a satire on reality TV. I read Fifty Shades Of Grey and felt no urge to go on. They call it mommy porn, but it’s not really mommy porn. It is highly charged, sexually driven fiction for women who are, say, between 18 and 25. But a golden age of horror? I wouldn’t say it is. I can’t think of any books right now that would be comparable to The Exorcist.”

Stephen King has a Sequel to 'The Shining'

I always wondered what happened to Danny Torrance, the little boy with psychic powers in 'The Shining'. Well, Stephen King has a surprise for us... a Shining sequel!
While accepting the Mason Prize at George Mason University this weekend, novelist Stephen King gave fans a peek at a sequel to his classic novel, The Shining.

Above, we’ve embedded a short video clip from the event. Follow this link to read more about all the topics King discussed while receiving the award–past recipients included Chinua Achebe, Dave Eggers and Greg Mortenson.

Here’s more about the reading: “Doctor Sleep, his upcoming novel about a grown-up Danny Torrance from The Shining. In the book, Danny is a hospice worker who uses his powers to help ill patients to pass away without pain. Unfortunately, he runs afoul of a gang of wandering psychic vampires who feed on people’s energy.”
Yes, bitch! And here is a clip of him reading a piece of the new book.

Interesting Quote: Stephen King

"I've heard rumblings about a Carrie remake, as I have about The Stand and It. ... Who knows if it will happen? The real question is why, when the original was so good? I mean, [it's] not Casablanca or anything, but a really good horror-suspense film, much better than the book. Piper Laurie really got her teeth into the bad-mom thing. Although Lindsay Lohan as Carrie White ... hmmm. It would certainly be fun to cast. I guess I could get behind it if they turned the project over to one of the Davids: Lynch or Cronenberg."
Stephen doesn't know why there's a remake to 'Carrie'

Get Ready for... IT the Feature Film

You remember IT. The Stephen King masterpiece and later a mini-series in the 90s.

Well, it's about to be a feature film. The screenwriter, David Kajganich talked about the progress.

When I heard Warner Bros. was going to give the novel a go theatrically, I went after the job hard. I knew the studio was committed to adapting IT as a single film, so I went back and reread the novel to see if I thought this was even possible, and to try to find a structure that would accommodate such a large number of characters in two different time periods, around 120 pages, which was another of the studios stipulations.

and..

In all of my talks with the studio, it has only ever been discussed as a single feature film. The book's length is clearly more suited to a mini-seriesand I understand very well why they went that route the last time aroundbut I think the books content is really more appropriate for cinema. I told the studio from the beginning that I felt I needed to be able to write for an R rating, since I wanted to be as candid as the novel about the terrible things the characters go through as kids. They agreed and off I went.

I hope he can pull it off, IT is no joke. I wish him luck.

Why! By the Grace of Hera...WB is trying to Remix, IT

While I think it can be tinkered, I'm not sure about the IT reboot.

I happen to like the TV version, Tim Curry was wonderful as the killer clown.

According to THR, they have already begun the process:

Dave Kajganich has been hired pen the script, which follows a group of kids called the Losers Club that encounter a creature called It, which preys on children and whose favorite form is that of a sadistic clown called Pennywise.

When the creature resurfaces, the kids are called upon to regroup again, this time as adults, even though they have no memory of the first battle.
The novel is set in 1958 and 1985, though the feature version will be set in the present day.

"It" was the best-selling book of 1986 and in 1990 was turned into an ABC miniseries that starred John Ritter, Harry Anderson, Tim Reid, Annette O'Toole and Richard Thomas. Tim Curry played Pennywise.

The screen rights have bounced around town since then, and at one time landing at the WB and again at Sci Fi.

It could be good but so far, all the reboots have been a mess.

Please do IT right!
