NOM's House Negroes Honor Roy Moore with a MLK Award

NOM's front group, Coalition of African American Pastors, has the nerve to honor Roy Moore for his ignorance stance on gay marriage in Alabama.

In fact, they want to give him some made up award inspired by MLK.

Today, the Coalition of African American Pastors (CAAP) announced that Alabama Chief Justice Roy Moore would receive their first ever “Letter from Birmingham Jail Courage Award” in recognition of Justice Moore’s principled stand in defense of traditional marriage.

The group was moved to honor Chief Justice Moore following his defense of Alabama’s statutory and constitutional ban on same-sex marriage. Moore’s actions were based on the fact that the federal court does not have the power to redefine marriage in direct opposition to legal tradition and the clearly expressed will of the people. His courage and conviction persuaded CAAP that Chief Moore was the ideal honoree for the inaugural presentation of an award inspired by Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s famous letter.

“Chief Justice Moore is an example for all of us,” stated Rev. William Owens, President of CAAP. “By making a principled and persuasive stand for marriage, Chief Justice Moore has singled himself out as someone who is ready to defend our most cherished values and help lead this new civil rights movement. By his words and courageous actions, he has helped preserve marriage, the family, justice, and the spirit of democracy. This is what it means to be a ‘Letter from Birmingham Jail Courage Award’ recipient. We hope that his example inspires others to take similar action to defend marriage in their own communities.”

The group announced that they plan to present the Letter from Birmingham Jail Courage Award to Justice Moore in a special ceremony in April.

Today, the Washington Post, revealed some interesting ties to this mess. Here's the scoop:

* Owens was appointed this year as the African-American liaison for the National Organization for Marriage (NOM), a Washington-based group opposed to same-sex marriage that has endorsed Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney. 

* Frank Cannon, head of the American Principles Project, a group opposed to same-sex marriage, confirms his group’s political action fund is paying public relations firm Shirley & Banister to assist CAAP’s communications strategy. 

* CAAP received loans totaling $26,000 in 2004 from the conservative Family Research Council, American Family Association and Mississippi Tea Party activist Ed Holliday, according to its IRS filings.

Yes, look at the proof! Just as guilty and filthy. CAAP has been all over the media, trying to discourage the Black community from voting. With this info at hand, it is clear who's really behind this and how easily religion is used to fuel hate.

A Petition ask Black Pastors to Stop dividing the Black Community over Gay Marriage

On SignOn.org, there's a petition demanding the Coalition of African American Pastors to stop their foolishness over President Obama's support of Gay Marriage.

Here's the premise:

Instead of uniting the Black Community to fight against Voter ID/Suppression laws, drugs, violent crimes, lack of education, high unemployment and the disproportionate number of Black men in the prison system, the Coalition of African American Pastors (CAAP) is rallying for 100,000 signatures on a petition to stand against President Obama in this election because of his personal views on marriage equality. We must stop allowing our community to be divided over our diversity, and focus on those things that make us the same. Equality has never hurt anyone, it only makes us stronger.

Some Silly Black Clergy Org is still crying about NAACP's Gay Marriage Support

Some, and not a lot, of preachers are still whining about NAACP's support of gay marriage. CAAP
the Coalition of African-American Pastors, brought this up at the NAACP annual convention. Lead by this hater, Rev. William Owens, the group claims the NAACP was abandon the solid purpose of the organization.

Interesting, considering the core purpose of the org. was to fight bigotry and inequality.

Anywho, this preacher said a lot crap like:

"You're advocating for something that's not normal, that's not natural. It's still out of line, it's against moral law."

"Gay marriage is leading us down a bad path," Owens added. "Our young people are already hurt. They're already damaged."

These are, as usual, empty statements. Moral law? Child please, if you can't handle change, Rev. William Owens then go! Get the f**k out! I'm sick of these self-righteous freaks, talking about what's right and wrong.

The hatred and foolishness this group are pushing is wrong and if anything, that's against moral law too.
