In St. Louis: An Off Duty shoots Young Man, thinking a Sandwich was a Gun



Not again...
Homicide detectives from the St. Louis police department were called to the 4100 block of Shaw Blvd. in the Tower Grove neighborhood around 7:30 pm Wednesday night for fatal shooting that invovled an off-duty St. Louis police officer.

Police say an off-duty officer working a second job attempted pedestrian check. The suspect fled on foot, and officer pursed the suspect. The suspect turned and fired at the officer. The officer fearing for his life returned fire fatally wounding the suspect.

A crowd has gathered at the corner store at Klemm next to the Shaw Market. Some in the crowd said the suspect in his 20’s, was shot 16 times. They also said the suspect was only armed with a sandwich.

As the investigation continued, the crowd has grown at the corner of Klemm and Shaw Blvd. Many in the crowd have been chanting “Hands Up Don’t Shoot”.

Emotions are running high the scene of the police shooting. Shots have been heard in the vicinity of where the crowd has gathered to protest the fatal shooting of suspect.
