WB CEO says it's time to Bring Wonder Woman to TV or the Screen
WB CEO Kevin Tsujihara said at an entertainment law conference that it's time to get to work on a Wonder Woman project.
He said:
She's one of the Big 3, she deserves a movie. No more excuses, folks, no mo!
I mean, we have a sequel to Thor. Thor is from Norse mythology. Who actually knows about Norse gods? Well, besides the geeks, but you know where I'm coming from.
Over the years, we have seen a lot of Greek mythology in TV and film. Think about it: The original Clash of the Titans, Xanadu, Hercules the Disney movie, Hercules the series, Young Hercules, Xena, God of War video games, the messy remake of Clash (and a sequel), and TWO Hercules films coming out soon! Trust... Folks know about Greek mythology, so it won't be a foreign subject.
Once and for all, this needs to be a priority, WB. Time to jump to it! Stop the BS and bring Diana to the screen!

7 Reasons why WB is dicking around on a Wonder Woman movie
Real Talk... WB/DC Entertainment is screwing over Wonder Woman big time! It just seems that they don't have a handle on her and making up tired excuses to keep her off the screen.
It's frustrating that they can't get this together. But to shed some light into my rant, I will provide some evidence to my case.
- DC changed her completely in the New 52. Unlike Bats or Supes, Diana gets a whole new make over, making her more warrior and less likable.
- WB handed Wonder Woman to David E. Kelley, a writer that had no idea how to write her. And the result was a failed pilot.
- WB executives keeps claiming WW is a strange bird. They are always using that excuse, making it hard to get Diana on the screen.
- They are willing make a Flash film before hers. Really, WB? The Flash? Who's beating down the door to see that superhero?
- And continuing on with that notion, WB is willing reboot Batman... for the 5th time. The 5th time! Can we get at least one shot for Diana?
- WB has shot down a few plans for WW films and TV series over the years. Did you know there were 3 TV ideas for a WW series? All of them were very different incarnations.
- WB can't find a top director or writer for WW. They go out of their way for Bats and Supes, but for Diana, they would probably give the project to an intern.
Those are just a few reasons. If I continue, I'll get upset.

Interesting Quote: DC Comics Chief Diane Nelson
Her statement on a Wonder Woman film
"We have to get her right, we have to. She is such an icon for both genders and all ages and for people who love the original TV show and people who read the comics now. I think one of the biggest challenges at the company is getting that right on any size screen. The reasons why are probably pretty subjective: She doesn't have the single, clear, compelling story that everyone knows and recognizes. There are lots of facets to Wonder Woman, and I think the key is, how do you get the right facet for that right medium? What you do in TV has to be different than what you do in features. She has been, since I started, one of the top three priorities for DC and for Warner Bros. We are still trying right now, but she's tricky."

8 Reasons why a Wonder Woman film will Work!
But I think it is possible and if I was in the WB war room, I would present these reason:
- It's time.
- Mythology works. Look at how the (horrid) Clash of the Titans turned out and Thor. Folks are ready for more.
- Katness. In a lot of ways, Katness/Hunger Games proves that women can lead movies.
- Fangirls are a powerful force in the movie watching game. They will turn out for a WW flick.
- And continuing that trend, Gays and Women can make movie miracles.
- Her fans. WW has fans that will come out and show up for this movie.
- The hype! The hype of this movie will get many folks to come out.
- The actress hunt. Who ever lands that role could make or break the film. But the news, will spark interest.

My NEW Top 5 Actresses to be WONDER WOMAN

Some these actresses are favorites, but I added some new ones to the batch.
Check them out after the jump

Man of Steel writer would love to a Wonder Woman film
Interesting news from the Wonder Woman front. Man Of Steel writer David S. Goyer said that he would like to do a Wonder Woman movie. Folks over at ComicBook.com has the story:
During a Reddit Q&A earlier today, David S. Goyer was asked which DC heroes he would like to make a movie about. His answer might surprise you, because it wasn’t Justice League. Instead, David S. Goyer answered, “Hmmm…. Wonder Woman would be cool.”
Me neither, but it's nice to hear that he's into the idea.
When asked why he thought a Wonder Woman movie hadn’t happened yet and who he would want to play her, David S. Goyer responded, “I think Wonder Woman is a very difficult character to crack. More difficult than Superman, who is also more difficult than Batman. Also, a lot of people in Hollywood believe that it’s hard to do a big action movie with a female lead. I happen to disagree with that. But that tends to be the prevailing wisdom. Hopefully, that’ll change in the next few years. Who should play here? No idea…”

My Rant: Between the Wonder Woman TV or the Wonder Woman Film... I want the Film
There is a lot of talk about the possible Wonder Woman TV show on the CW. And while it's exciting and popping... I rather have a film.
We need a WW movie! Hands down! She is one of the big DC 3! Superman has had 6 films and Batman has had 8 films. Diana has had none, I'm not counting the Cathy Lee Crosby version, because that was a TV pilot.
WB should do everything in their power to make WW happen. Diana has a rich history and plenty of material to make a fascinating movie. Even if they struggled with some of her story lines, they could still draw from the 70 years of stuff! I mean, look at the possibilities:
- Her issues with her mother
- Coming to the new world
- Rogue amazons
- Cheetah
- Ares
- Steve Trevor or Trevor
- Aresia - from the JL cartoon
- Circe
- The tournament
I really don't want a Smallville-lite series. And I don't want some starlet in the role as Diana. In fact, let's not do the series; just do the movie, just do the movie. Find a great director, writer and actress and make this happen! Please WB, look at the draw of The Avengers and the Man of Steel, Wonder Woman can create the same kind of draw and excitement!
Just give the movie a chance! Hell, give Wonder Woman a frakking chance!

Why I'm not excited about the Wonder Woman screenwriter
This week, we learned there's a screenwriter for Wonder Woman... and that writer was the one that gave us the mess known as Green Lantern.
The GL flick was considered a lackluster film that was 'okay' at best. The media and geeks panned it and the film was flat out on the street with weeks. So with that track record, you would think the particular writer would be on hold for any major projects, right?
No, Michael Goldenberg was given the responsibility of putting WW on the screen.
This info hurts, y'all, it really does.
WB/DC Entertainment really need to think about this. The Avengers is kicking ass and scaring other studios to rethink their films and release dates. If you want something on that level, you need to get someone either on or close to that level.
The Avengers or Green Lantern. Think about it... it's no contest.
With the fallout of GL, WB/DC Entertainment is taking a huge risk on using the same folks. I know, I'm really making a lot of assumptions; but this is a big deal. Plus with the string of WW failures, I'd hoped that DC would find someone with the power and skill to bring Diana to the screen. Michael is good, but I'm not convinced he is the best choice.
He's like the 3rd place trophy in a box of 1st placed ribbons. I want a blue ribbon writer for Wonder Woman!

So, Why haven't we seen a Wonder Woman Film yet?
It's Wonder Woman's 70th birthday and we can't give her a proper Hollywood film to celebrate. And what hurts about this is how other low rent heroes have 1 to 2 movies a piece (The Punisher and the Fantasic Four anyone?)
So why is that? Well, we may some answers to this great comic book mystery. Here's an interesting piece from the interview led by Hero Complex's Geoff Boucher with WW's creative team writer Brian Azzarello and artist Cliff Chiang:
GB: Superman and Batman are taking flight again on the big screen but Wonder Woman is still waiting her turn. It sort of boggles the mind especially when you consider the fact that Ghost Rider, Swamp Thing, the Punisher and Hellboy each have made it to the screen two or more times. Do you think that speaks to something in the audience or in the creative world? In other words, is it the fact that we don’t want to see a movie bad enough or is it the fact that Hollywood can’t make it good enough?Interesting... What do you think?
CC: Wow, that’s a big one. I would say that the audience has wanted different things out of a Wonder Woman movie over the years and that the creative side hasn’t quite figured out the way go. Wonder Woman presents a thorny question: How are you going to show the premier female superhero to the audience in a way that will satisfy that audience? I think now is the time for a Wonder Woman movie. I think it would be great. I think people’s ideas of what a woman can do and the way women heroes can be presented is much broader. You think back to the old TV show, it was pretty campy, but it was the ’70s. The thing is Lynda Carter never made fun of Wonder Woman, which was great and it’s one of the reasons the show really inspired a lot of people to fall in love with Wonder Woman. She did it with a straight face and one of the things we want to do is sort of present this no-nonsense woman warrior. That’s not to say she isn’t compassionate, she’s just ready to get down to business.
BA: I don’t know, they like her on TV. At the theater? I don’t know the answer. I think when people go to comic-book movies they’re going with a preconceived notion of the characters, although I guess “Iron Man” broke that mold. But you go to a Superman movie or a Batman movie and you know who they are. What sold the first Superman movie was the fact that he could fly and the special effects were so great — ‘You’ll believe a man can fly,’ that was the tagline. They are kind of these clear niches where they work, Batman in Gotham City and has seriously creepy villains, Superman is in Metropolis and he fights with the smartest man on Earth. With Wonder Woman, I don’t think people know what they would get out of that right now. Lyle Waggoner as Steve Trevor?

My Top 5 Women Directors who could make a Wonder Woman Film
We've heard a lot from male directors wanting to do a WW movie; but what about the women directors?
I think certain women directors could rock a Wonder Woman film. So, I have made a list of super women who could do this and do this well.
![]() |
Catherine Hardwicke - She has 'Twilight' and 'Red Hiding Hood' under her belt. She she has a good flair of fantasy |
![]() |
Diablo Cody - 'Juno' and 'Jennifer's Body' are good starts. I believe her geekness and love for strong female characters could give her a great edge in creating a WW movie. |
![]() |
Kathryn Bigelow - Oscar winning director could give us the war/battle side of Diana and the human side of her. |
![]() |
Mimi Leder - She gave us 'Deep Impact', 'The Peacemaker' and TV shows 'John Doe' & 'ER'. She has the storytelling bug. |
![]() |
Julie Taymor - She gave us 'Across the Universe' and 'The Tempest'. Her stylings could make Diana into the mythological super woman we all want to see |

Interesting Quote: Nicholas Winding Refn
“I would love to make ‘Wonder Woman,’ I would be the best at making ‘Wonder Woman.’ I was born to make ‘Wonder Woman.’ To do a movie about a universe where women are more powerful then men—this appeals to me very much."He really wants to make this happen. I'm glad he is this enthusiastic about making Diana into a blockbuster hit.

Director Nicolas Winding Refn may get "Wonder Woman" if the "Logan's Run" movie soars
Director Nicolas Winding Refn has been on the Wonder Woman tip for some time now. He really wants to direct a WW movie and he received a bit of glowing news the other day.
Here's the T:
Empire Big Screen in London on Saturday night (we’ll have a full review later), and Refn came up for a Q&A afterwards, moderated by the magazine’s Damon Wise, which revealed a few insights into his top-notch crime drama, as well as an update on the status on what Refn hopes will be his biggest film to date.Well that's cute and all, but Logan's Run won't hit the screens until 2014. So we have to wait almost 4 years? Great Hera!
...
Refn’s has been told by studio executives that his dream adaptation of “Wonder Woman” depends on the success of his first blockbuster, “Logan’s Run”
“I would love to make ‘Wonder Woman.’ And I also think that Christina Hendricks would be the perfect Wonder Woman, but Warner Bros haven’t called yet. But I’m getting closer with ‘Logan’s Run.’ I think someone said to me in a meeting that if I get ‘Logan’s Run’ right, then I’ll get ‘Wonder Woman.’”

Question of the Day: Wonder Woman Edition
There's big talk about the Danish filmmaker Nicolas Winding Refn wants to do a Wonder Woman movie and how he want Christina Hendricks in it.
See here:
Cheetah?
Etta?
Giganta?
Queen Clea?
See here:
The director’s long been attempting to get his version of Wonder Woman onto the big screen. “If I get to do it, she’s going to be it,” Refn told Vulture of his dream casting.Well many folks thought he meant for Christina to be Diana, but if you look closely at what he said, he meant for her to be in the movie. So with that notion, my question is... What role would Christina play?
In what could be seen as a two-pronged attack on rights holders Warner Bros, only last year Hendricks told Collider: “I’ve been wanting to wear that outfit my whole life.”
Cheetah?
Etta?
Giganta?
Queen Clea?

Justice League Movie back on Track! A Wonder Woman project too?
I found some interesting info about the future of DC Comics movies; mostly about JL and Wonder Woman.
Collider has the scoop from producer Dan Lin. On the Justice League:
You know, I thought that was the ultimate project. I was a fan-boy for me to work with all those characters together on a team and kind of the themes of that movie. That’s my dream. It’s on-hold right now as DC sorts out its strategy but as you’ve talked to Alan Horn and Jeff Robinov it seems like they’re building to Justice League instead of going with the team movie first and doing individual movies after that.On Wonder Woman:
Do you think there’s ever going to be a Wonder Woman movie? At least it's still talked about, right? Oh well, we will see how they will match up with Marvel.
Dan Lin: Don’t know. I just asked Joel Silver that at lunch the other day.
I always ask him that, but he sort of like we’re working on it or whatever.
Dan Lin: I don’t know. Just as an outside observer I know they talk about it as a movie and also a TV show. I don’t know if they’ve figured out which way to go or is it better to put her in a team movie first and then have her come off that. Truth is, I don’t know.

Joss Whedon thinks Angelina Jolie would make a great Wonder Woman
Interesting info! Joss Whedon, who could have made the best Wonder Woman ever, revealed who he thought could have played the Amazing Amazon.
source
Although his script was celebrated by those who read it, Warner Bros. ultimately passed on the project, leaving Whedon's take on the Amazon warrior to languish in that big old comic book movie graveyard in the sky.Interesting choice, she would have been my last pick. What do you think?
That doesn't mean that Whedon hasn't still considered Wonder Woman's big screen chances, even if he's no longer involved with the project. Speaking with Entertainment Weekly, Whedon revealed who he would have wanted to see cast as Princess Diana: none other than Angelina Jolie.
“For me, Wonder Woman was basically Angelina Jolie,” he revealed. “She spends a lot of time flying around. She works in a lot of different countries. She’s very global. And she’s appalled by the way people treat each other.”

Interesting Quote: Lynda Carter

"A cameo is kind of a broad word. As they say: "There are no small parts, there are only small actors". If it's something that is gratuitous I won't do it; if it's just for me to show up in it I wouldn't do it, but if there is something written that they think would be appropriate then most definitely I'd consider it. I would love it."

Wonder Woman Rumor!!!

There are claims that a WW movie may be announced!!!
The Playlist reports:
Ok, remember how we said that David S. Goyer was potentially being considered a frontrunner to direct "Superman: The Man of Steel" reboot godfathered by Christopher Nolan, but might not be able to because he was considering another super-hero property?
Well, here it is. We're hearing that at ComicCon sometime in the next 48 hours or so WB/Legendary are going to announce Goyer and a "Wonder Woman" film for 2013. What's Goyer's role going to be. As a director? A writer? We're honestly not sure, the intel is fuzzy.
Again, we don't know if this is true, so take with a huge grain of salt if you will, but it's intriguing information if it's correct.
I will check this out!

Possible Costume Designs for Joss Whedon's Wonder Woman
Not too long ago, we were ecstatic about Joss making a WW movie. But our dreams were shattered and the movie never happened (Still heartbroken about that).
However, we have some costume designs from the would-be movie by the designer, Shawna Trpcic
I like them. What do you think?
Thanks to my 'Brother' Mechadude for this info.
