Did David S. Goyer get defensive over Constantine's Bisexuality?

So this happened


Afterwards, The Advocate talked to Whennerdsattack.com's Lindsey Cepak, the journalist who asked the question. She said:

"I will admit, I did get flustered. I know some of my facts were wrong, but I was not expecting to be accused of being a fake geek girl, and condescended to."

"It also infinitely frustrated me to hear him act like the '12 years' should somehow negate the fact that Constantine is a bisexual. Rictor and Shatterstar were not initially homosexual/pansexual/bisexual either, but that has not stopped them from becoming positive representation within Marvel comics."

"I doubt it would have mattered if I named the issue where he was first shown to be bisexual. Goyer has made up his mind, and there was little I was going to be able to do to get him to change his point of view." 

 And on Goyer vague answers:

“I think he’s being super ambiguous. The actress we interviewed, who will be playing Zed, spoke on the tension that she will have with Constantine, implying it was unresolved sexual tension. So I think we can say that Constantine will eventually have a romantic/sexual relationship with Zed. As I said in the interview, I don’t think anyone was expecting to see Constantine getting out of bed with a man in the pilot. I just think it’s a cop out. I just don’t see why he can’t say openly, if he is going to have Constantine be bisexual or not. These half answers and ways of talking around the topic are frustrating, and I think are really disrespectful to the fans of the comics, and for the bisexual community.”

This is getting out of hand. Just make him bisexual!

Man of Steel writer would love to a Wonder Woman film

Interesting news from the Wonder Woman front. Man Of Steel writer David S. Goyer said that he would like to do a Wonder Woman movie. Folks over at ComicBook.com has the story:

During a Reddit Q&A earlier today, David S. Goyer was asked which DC heroes he would like to make a movie about. His answer might surprise you, because it wasn’t Justice League. Instead, David S. Goyer answered, “Hmmm…. Wonder Woman would be cool.” 

When asked why he thought a Wonder Woman movie hadn’t happened yet and who he would want to play her, David S. Goyer responded, “I think Wonder Woman is a very difficult character to crack. More difficult than Superman, who is also more difficult than Batman. Also, a lot of people in Hollywood believe that it’s hard to do a big action movie with a female lead. I happen to disagree with that. But that tends to be the prevailing wisdom. Hopefully, that’ll change in the next few years. Who should play here? No idea…”

Me neither, but it's nice to hear that he's into the idea.

'Man of Steel' will open door for more DC Comics Films

Interesting news on the DC Comics movie plans.

Man of Steel producer Chris Roven and screenwriter David S. Goyer dropped some teases involving other DC Comic films and character appearances in EW.

Chris said this about other characters entering the world of Man of Steel:

"[Man of Steel's] setting the tone for what the movies are going to be like going forward. In that, Man of Steel is definitely a first step. What Zack and Chris have done with [Man of Steel] is allow you to really introduce other characters into the same world."

David statement was a little different, but revealing:

"I would love to tell you yes or no [on Man of Steel leading to a shared universe], but I think it’s going to be more exciting for people to keep a beady eye out and find what they can find."

Then the final tease came from Jeff Robinov, president of Warner Bros. Pictures Group, he said:

“We’ll announce something in the next several weeks that will hopefully position the DC characters and the movies we’re going to be making.”

They better work these teases because the uncertainty besetting a Justice League film or any other DC Comics character is strong. Hopefully, MoS kickstarts DC's move game plan.

Wonder Woman Rumor!!!

There are claims that a WW movie may be announced!!!

The Playlist reports:

Ok, remember how we said that David S. Goyer was potentially being considered a frontrunner to direct "Superman: The Man of Steel" reboot godfathered by Christopher Nolan, but might not be able to because he was considering another super-hero property?

Well, here it is. We're hearing that at ComicCon sometime in the next 48 hours or so WB/Legendary are going to announce Goyer and a "Wonder Woman" film for 2013. What's Goyer's role going to be. As a director? A writer? We're honestly not sure, the intel is fuzzy.

Again, we don't know if this is true, so take with a huge grain of salt if you will, but it's intriguing information if it's correct.

I will check this out!

Superman Movie News!

So here is some interesting Superman news to share!

So you will believe un hombre can fly! Te Juro. The talented David Stephen Goyer, the man who made sure Nolan stuck to the legend of El Dark Knight, has been hired to write the next chapter. Here is what El Taco can tell all you ninos....

1. Thomas Tull, the head of Legendary, got tired of all the discussion and decided chingate, let's do it. So he went to Goyer and Goyer had an idea that actually takes the movies back to the John Byrne incarnation. Modern. Believable. FUN! So Tull got Goyer hired.
2. The film will not be called Superman and will be called THE MAN OF STEEL.
3. Brandon Routh will not star in the film.
4. Nic Cage will NOT star in the fllm (lol)
5. Bryan Singer is not expected to direct.

Fascinating, right?

David is a pretty good writer, he co-penned Batman Begins and the Dark Knight (I'll forgive him for The Unborn) so this should be good. And if they follow Byrne's storyline it should challenge the fans.

So I'm pleased with the news.
