Marvel and Sony join forces to make new Spider-Man films

Wow! Marvel Studios has made a deal with Sony to get Spider-Man over on their side! Marvel's Kevin Feige will work with Amy Pascal to make this happen.

Variety reports:
Marvel and Sony are exploring ways to weave Spider-Man into Marvel’s upcoming superhero films, which includes the popular “Avengers” franchise.

Bob Iger, Chairman and CEO, The Walt Disney Company said: “Spider-Man is one of Marvel’s great characters, beloved around the world. We’re thrilled to work with Sony Pictures to bring the iconic web-slinger into the Marvel Cinematic Universe, which opens up fantastic new opportunities for storytelling and franchise building.”

“We always want to collaborate with the best and most successful filmmakers to grow our franchises and develop our characters. Marvel, Kevin Feige and Amy, who helped orchestrate this deal, are the perfect team to help produce the next chapter of Spider-Man,” said Michael Lynton, Chairman and CEO of Sony Pictures Entertainment. “This is the right decision for the franchise, for our business, for Marvel, and for the fans.”
This is interesting! Now, let's work on getting the X-Men.

In Korea: Spider-Man's Member causes stir at Shopping Mall - NSFW

In a shopping center in Korea got into some trouble with this Spider-Man statue. As you can see, he has a boner. After some complaints, it was removed.

But here's the thing... It's been up for a year. Why now? And who complained?

Spider-Man is a man... It happens.

This is the 30th Anniversary of 'Spider-Man and his Amazing Friends'

This was the CARTOON back in the day. SMAHAF was my introduction to the Marvel Universe. I lived for this cartoon and enjoyed the stories every week.

It's hard to believe it's been 30 years since we were introduce to Iceman, Firestar and Ms. Lion.

Here's one of my favorites: A Firestar is Born

The New 'Ultimate Spider-Man' freaks out some Comic Fans

As times changes, little things remind you that most people don't move with the times. Take the news about the biracial Spider-Man. Since the announcement, some folks have let their foolishness show. Brian Michael Bendis, writer at Marvel Comics was thrilled about the change, but others... Well, basically not so thrilled.
Over on the website Bleeding Cool, they decided to publish some of the more “enlightening” comments from the USA Today story in one of their Tuesday posts. The comments ranged from bashing the need to always be politically correct, to complaints over the comic books direction and the rage over the killing of the white Peter Parker so that Morales could replace him.

With several comic-based movies taking liberty when it comes to the race of their supportive characters (i.e. Nick Fury played by Samuel L. Jackson, Perry White being played by Laurence Fishburne), it is apparent that supporting roles are the only roles not susceptible to such a huge backlash. However, making the “minority” a main character is still seen as unacceptable.

As one commenter responded:
“Peter Parker could not be whiter. A black boy under the mask just don’t look right. This opens up a whole new story line with a whole new set of problems. Who is going to believe a black man in a mask is out for the good of man kind?”
Wow, I guess this person still see White is Good, Red/Black/Yellow are BAD! I never thought comic fans were this backwards. I've always believe geeks were better than most people. I guess not.

The New 'Ultimate Spider-Man' is Biracial

Fellow buddy and reader, Wilson, clued me in on this hot piece of comic info. Since Peter Parker died in the 'Ultimate Spider-Man' comic, a new kid will take his place... And his name is Miles Morales.

And another thing, he's half Black and Hispanic. Here's more:
"It's certainly long overdue," Bendis said in the article. "Even though there's some amazing African-American and minority characters bouncing around in all the superhero universes, it's still crazy lopsided."

Bendis also credited Community actor Donald Glover's Twitter campaign last summer to play the movie version of Spider-Man — and subsequent appearance in the show's second season premiere in Spidey pajamas — as helping him realize he was on the right track.

"He looked fantastic!" Bendis told the newspaper. "I saw him in the costume and thought, 'I would like to read that book.' So I was glad I was writing that book."
This is an interesting turn of events. It seems that many comics are going into a multicultural route. I wonder if we will see more of this.

The 'Ultimate Spider-Man' Dies

A hero will fall. Marvel's alternative universe will lose a major player... Spider Man.
The lights are going out for Peter Parker, the high school student bitten by a radioactive spider whose wall-crawling and web-slinging antics have made him a touchstone of Marvel Comics' universe of heroes and villains.

The publisher said Tuesday that Parker's alter ego, Spider-Man, will finally succumb to one of his most pernicious foes in the final issue of "Ultimate Comics Spider-Man" due out Wednesday.

Fans of Spider-Man need not worry much, though, because the Ultimates imprint is separate from Marvel's bigger universe. Whatever fate may befall Ultimate Spider-Man won't count in the pages of the other series, including Amazing Spider-Man.
Will he stay dead? Marvel says yes, but we will see.

A new comic featuring Spidey in the Fantastic Four is called FF.

Here's a description
Their mission is simple: save the Marvel Universe from its greatest threats and prevent future dangers from arising. But even with knowledge of what’s to come and one of the most powerful teams ever assembled, just what villainous force could stand in their way?

Cute.
