Some good news on the 234 missing Nigerian girls case.
Secretary of State John Kerry offered to send a team to Nigeria to help search for the girls, and Nigerian president Goodluck Jonathan accepted.

Two Weeks later! Over 200 Nigerian schoolgirls are Still Missing!
I apologize for being so late on this.
Two weeks ago, the evil militant group known as Boko Haram abducted 234 school girls from their boarding school in northern Nigeria.
The ages of these girls goes from 16 to 18 years of age. They were taken from their residence halls at the Government Girls Secondary School in the town of Chibok. Rumors are spreading that the girls have been sold as brides and slaves to Islamic militants for 2,000 naira, or $12.
TWELVE DOLLARS!
Again, these are rumors, but Nigerian officials can confirmed that the girls were kidnapped by Boko Haram. The families are heartbroken and demanding answers from President Goodluck Jonathan and the rest of the Nigerian government. Yesterday, there was a Million-woman march in the Nigerian capital over the government's failure to find and rescue the girls.
I can not imagine the pain these families feel. The fear of Boko Haram, the disappointment of the Nigerian goverment and the loss of the girls has to be extremely stressful for them.
Hopefully, something will be done.

Angry Mob Drags Out and Brutally Beat 4 Gay Men in Nigeria
Lord, Nigeria!
The Huntress brought this to my attention today. In Abuja (the capital of Nigeria), a mob attacked gay men by dragging out of their homes and beating them with clubs and sticks riddled with nails. Reports claim that during these brutal attacks, the mob were shouting they were “cleansing the community” of gays.
It was a mob of 50 men who attacked 4 gay men. 50 vs 4, really? One of the victims was almost beaten to death! And if you're thinking, 'What did the Cops do?' Well, I tell you, NOTHING! Gay activists said that the cops continued to beat and verbally abuse the victims!
What we're hearing and seeing in Nigeria is a horrifying reaction to the anti-gay law that was recently signed. Our fam in Nigeria are truly living in fear. Could you imagine living in your home, wondering if a mad mob will bust in a kill you? Now imagine feeling like this every day, every night; not able to relax or feel safe.
Hope the UN or someone step in and do something about this.

Interesting Quote: Rashidi Williams, the founder of Queer Alliance Nigeria
Why do some non-LGBT Nigerians seek to live and work outside this country? It's because it is easier and living is more pleasant. Living as a gay man outside of Nigeria would be the most pleasant thing, but then you think about your country and the country you want to live in. People in other countries fought for the freedoms they now enjoy. They never give up on the idea of a better, egalitarian society. We need to push through and make Nigeria better. Living abroad would not bring the change we need. I think it's temporarily satisfying.Check out the rest of the article here.

Archbishop Praises the Nigerian Anti-Gay Bill
Archbishop Ignatius Kaigama is very happy that the Anti-gay bill passed. In fact, he wrote a letter praising Nigeria's President Goodluck Jonathan for the law.
In the letter he said:
“We commend you for this courageous and wise decision and pray that God will continue to bless, guide and protect you and your administration against the conspiracy of the developed world to make our country and continent, the dumping ground for the promotion of all immoral practices, that have continued to debase the purpose of God for man in the area of creation and morality, in their own countries.”While he says he will treat gays with love and understanding, he doesn't seem to care about the thousands of protesters demanding the deaths of the 11 gay men in jail.

In Nigeria: Protesters demand Executions for 11 Gay Men
More bad news in Nigeria.
Thousands of protesters showed up at the Shariah court, demanding for the convictions and executions of 11 gay men.
It got so bad that security officials had to fired into the sky to break up the hostile crowd. At this time, the defense counsel couldn't submit an application for bail, and the defendants couldn't give testimony. But what scary about all of this is their fate is so unknown. Just last week, a man was publicly whipped and fined for sodomy. And that was the court being lenient...
More to come on these 11 gay men.

Interesting Quote: Dr Rizi Timane
I am disappointed in my country. This law is backward, and the harm it will do to so many people could be irreparable. Mass arrests have already been reported; right now there are people in jail simply for being themselves. Some Western nations have threatened to cut aid to Nigeria if the law is not repealed, but I’m not sure what good that will do to a nation that puts out two million barrels of oil a day. Perhaps a stronger show of force would work; I’ll call on President Obama to intervene in this breach of human and civil rights. But mostly I will pray for my brothers and sisters in the LGBT community back home and remind them it is always darkest before the dawn. Change will come. Just please hold on.

The Witch Hunt against the LGBT Community begins in Nigeria
Things are getting worse in Nigeria.
Ever since their hateful bill became law, the LGBT community has been heavily targeted. According to AP, dozens of folks have been arrested or questioned about their sexuality.
Executive Director of the Nigeria-based International Center for Advocacy on Right to Health, Ifeanyi Kelly Orazulike, said about 30 more people have been detained and questioned as well. All of this has happened over a few days... Just a few days.
I can't imagine what a month would look like or a year.

In Nigeria: Usman Nabahani threatens to hunt Gays Down
After Nigeria passed their nasty Anti-gay bill, the deputy head of the Hisbah in Kano state, Usman Nabahani, puffs out his chest and threatens to hunt gays down.
Usman told AFP this:
"Definitely, we will work tirelessly toward the enforcement of this law by the special grace of God. Obviously, we will embark on similar raids on gays and lesbians in Kano. From now on, we will go into every nook and corner of Kano state to ensure that (the prohibition of) prostitution, gay marriages, marriages of the same sex and consumption of alcohol... is fully complied with, so that we can have a decent society. We are given more power, we are given more support now to wage serious war against these issues."This makes me sick. Seems like Usman is excited to issue hate in the name of God.

Nigeria passes a Strong Anti-Gay Bill
![]() |
President Goodluck Jonathan |
Oh man, Nigeria's President just signed a bill that has outlawed pretty much everything gay.
Gay marriage, public displays of gay affection, affiliation to LGBT groups... Everything!
President Goodluck Jonathan signed this bill because he believes this is best for Africa. Reuben Abati, presidential spokesman, said this:
"I can confirm that the president has signed the bill into law. More than 90 percent of Nigerians are opposed to same-sex marriage. So, the law is in line with our cultural and religious beliefs as a people. And I think that this law is made for a people and what [the] government has done is consistent with the preference of its environment."Wow... my heart goes out to the LGBT community in Nigeria. Stay strong, fam.

In Nigeria: The ‘Jail All The Gays’ bill becomes Law
Nigeria just passed the crazy ‘Jail All The Gays’ law today.
This law is completely dangerous and if misused, could do a lot of harm.
Gay Star News reports:
Approved by Nigeria’s House of Representatives in a voice vote, the bill will be sent to President Goodluck Jonathan for him to sign into law.
Under the bill the Senate passed in November 2011, openly gay people would be imprisoned whether or not they have sex.
Anybody who knows somebody who is gay will have to tell the authorities or they could go to jail for five years.
Any same-sex couple who got married would be punished by up to 14 years prison and 10 for anyone else involved in the ceremony. Even wedding guests could be jailed.
And ‘any person who directly or indirectly makes public show of same-sex amorous relationships’ would also get a 10 year sentence. This is unbelievable and highly dangerous for the LGBT community in Nigeria
