Interesting Quote: James Franco

“There is a bit of over focusing on my sexuality, both by the straight press and the gay press, and so the first question is why do they care? Well, because I’m a celebrity, so I guess they care who I’m having sex with. But if your definition of gay and straight is who I sleep with, then I guess you could say I’m a gay cock tease. It’s where my allegiance lies, where my sensibilities lie, how I define myself. Yeah, I’m a little gay, and there’s a gay James.”

James Franco's New Book of Poems: Straight James / Gay James is out

James loves flirting with his sexuality, I'm shamefully here for it.

His new book is called Straight James / Gay James. I guess it explores James' views on life, sex and love.

Here's Amazon's description:
Straight James / Gay James actor James Franco's new chapbook of poems, explores the facets of his public and private personas. Straight James / Gay James is a poetic bildungsroman--raw, candid, and uninhibited. James Franco writes about life as an actor, sexuality, questions of identity, gender, family, Gucci, Lana Del Rey, James Dean, and Hollywood. His poetic style varies from the imagistic to the prosaic. The chapbook also contains an interview of "Gay James" conducted by "Straight James." Yes, Straight James asks the question: Let's get substantial: are you gay or what?

James Franco on his 'Fascination with Gay Characters'

In The Daily Beast, James talks about his love for gay characters and how he's happy telling diverse stories.

When asked about his 'fascination', James said:
It’s not like it’s my mission to tell the stories of as many gay men as possible, although in some cases, I think it is the point. In Milk, the point is to show one of the great fighters for equal rights for the gay community, so I was happy to do that. With characters like Allen Ginsberg [in Howl], my love for him started with his work when I was a teenager. So his sexuality is secondary to me. It’s an important aspect of who he was and his character, but it wasn’t like, “Yes, I want to play another gay role,” it was more, “Yes, I’d love to play another one of my heroes.”
Oh James, he's so cool, Brewster.

Interesting Quote: James Franco

“You guys wouldn’t know spunk if it hit you in the face. I know because I’ve had my spunk all over your faces.”
This was said at his Comedy Central roast

Interesting Quote: James Franco

“In high school these girls got mad at me and so they spread this rumor that I was having a gay relationship with one of my closest friends. And they even made up a little dance they would do in the girl’s locker room about me being gay. I still don’t know what the dance was. It wasn’t something that frightened me, like if people think that, it’s fine. I really don’t care."
James really doesn't care if you think he's gay.

Interesting Quote: James Franco

...There are lots of other reasons to be interested in gay characters than wanting myself to go out and have sex with guys. And there are also lots of other aspects about these characters that I’m interested in, in addition to their sexuality. So, in some ways it’s coincidental, in other ways it’s not. I mean, I’ve played a gay man who’s living in the ’60s and ’70s, a gay man who we depicted in the ‘50s, and one being in the ‘20s. And those were all periods when to be gay, at least being gay in public, was much more difficult. Part of what I’m interested in is how these people who were living anti-normative lifestyles contended with opposition. Or, you know what, maybe I’m just gay."
