New Spinoff: Battlestar Galactica: Blood & Chrome

Another BG spinoff is coming your way. It's called Blood & Chrome and SyFy just greenlit it.

Battlestar Galactica: Blood & Chrome takes place in the 10th year of the first Cylon war. As the battle between humans and their creation, a sentient robotic race, rages across the 12 colonial worlds, a brash rookie viper pilot enters the fray. Ensign William Adama, barely in his 20’s and a recent Academy graduate, finds himself assigned to the newest battlestar in the Colonial fleet… the Galactica. The talented but hot-headed risk-taker soon finds himself leading a dangerous top secret mission that, if successful, will turn the tide of the decade long war in favor of the desperate fleet.

“The ‘Galactica’ universe as re-imagined by Ron Moore and David Eick is rich with possibilities and backstory,” said Mark Stern. “We jumped at the chance to revisit the William Adama character and explore this exciting chapter in the BSG narrative which falls between the events of the original series and the prequel, ‘Caprica,’ currently airing on Syfy.” 

We will see how this goes because 'Caprica' hasn't been tearing down the ratings' walls.

Guess who will Direct the Battlestar Galactica movie?

BSG will be a movie and... Bryan Singer will produce and direct it.

It was confirmed today, due to a leak from other blogs and websites.

Singer has long been intrigued with "Battlestar Galactica" and flirted with relaunching it into a TV series right after he directed the original "X-Men." Back in 2001 I wrote about his plan, which involved teaming with Tom DeSanto to exec produce the series. Singer planned to direct the pilot of the new version of a series that originally launched on ABC in 1978 and ran two seasons. Here is what he said at the time, comments that certainly proved prescient:

"The lesson I learned on `X-Men' is to have a healthy respect for the fan base of sci-fi fantasy franchises, and I'm confident that the `Galactica' brand is a sleeping giant. It was a show I watched during its initial run, from the pilot to the final episode. The essence and the brand name is quite potent in a climate where there's a great deficit of scifi programming."

This has a great chance of being good. Hopefully, Bryan can deliver.

Question of the Day: Battlestar Galactica style

Today, Battlestar Galactica ends. The 2 hour finale is tonight and finally, we will know the truth.

But I have to wonder, BSG is Sci----oh, SyFy's bread winner. Everything else they have is not cute.

I mean, it's bad, like a broken fridge with rotten meat bad. Some of their space shows are strong, but the movies are junior high class projects: Spring Break Shark Attack, Boa vs Python, Frankenfish?

So my question is...What will SyFy do once Battlestar Galactica is gone?

Question of the Day: BSG style

BATTLESTAR GALACTICA is catching heat because they didn't gay-up Gaeta. It was revealed that he's gay in the web shows and many fans hoped to see him...act gay.

But that wasn't the focus of his character, and now folks are upset and feels like it's a slap in the face. But my question is...Was it important to keep Gaeta the way he was, or throw in more gay aspects about him?

Blast from the Past: Hanging with (the future) Admiral William Adama

In Fall 1997, I was living it up in college. I have my 2nd 4.0, I was in the Campus Activity Board, I was finally out of the closet and I was a RA.

Then I got to hang out with Edward James Olmos. Who knew he would be the powerful Admiral William Adama in Battlestar Galactica. Lucky me to have spent a few hours with him.

He was very interesting and passionate. He came to our little Kentucky school and talked about issues affecting Latinos in the media. It was a very good event.

Oh, BTW I was wearing extensions back then. I always changed my hair every six months. There wasn't anything else to do in that town, so I had to keep things exciting for me at least.
