Cece McDonald was set free today!
Her story was a very compelling one to hear. Back in 2012, CeCe was incarcerated for literality protecting herself from attackers.
Let me give y'all a quick recap of her story:
CeCe, a transgender woman, and her friends was walking past a bar, when four people started a racist and transphobic verbal attack. CeCe tried to moved past them, but one of the people hit CeCe in the face with a glass of alcohol and sliced open her cheek. A fight broke out between the groups, CeCe tried to leave, but one the guys followed her. In order to protect herself, CeCe took out some scissors from her purse and stabbed the guy. Later, he died. CeCe was arrested and then charged with second-degree intentional murder.
CeCe was sentenced 41 months in a men's prison facility. Remember, she is trans, that sentence set up a whole dangerous situation for her. But luckily, her sentence was reduced. Now, she is free and accompanied with Laverne Cox (pic above) to began working on her documentary, "Free, CeCe".
