Wait! What? Michigan Senate Passes Anti-Sodomy Bill?

So, guess what the Michigan Senate did yesterday?

Voted to raise the minimum wage? Nope

Voted to help Flint? Nope

Voted to ban anal sex? DING DING DING

These fools in the senate must've forgot about the state's sodomy ban, or how the Supreme Court case of Lawrence vs. Texas killed all sodomy bans. I mean, why would they do this? Well, some dummies attached this mess to an animal-rights bill. They placed it carefully in a section banning bestiality... Okay.

Now, this wasn't geared towards gay men, however, you have to wonder what they are really up to.

Anywho, if this bill passes, anyone caught having anal sex can get up to 15 years in prison. The bill goes up to the House this week.

East Baton Rouge Sheriff apologizes for Arresting Gay Men over Unconstitutional Sodomy Law

This past weekend I told you about Baton Rouge cops targeting gay men over consensual sex. They were using an outed piece of a sodomy law to justify their means.

It was wrong as Hell and finally, the sheriff office issued an apology.

Sheriff Sid J. Gautreaux III said:
“to anyone that was unintentionally harmed or offended by the actions of our investigations.” The sheriff said that he had instructed his employees to no longer use “this unconstitutional law,” and that he was conducting “a comprehensive evaluation of undercover operations made by our deputies and will make changes to ensure better supervision, training and guidance.”

The sheriff’s office will be working with the Capital City Alliance to address the gay men who lives were jeopardized in this mess.

In Texas: Senate Criminal Justice Committee advanced a Bill to Repeal the state's Anti-Gay Sodomy Law

The Senate Criminal Justice Committee advanced a bill to repeal the Texas's anti-gay sodomy law, 5-0.

Why is this still around? I don't know, but the author of the bill, Sen. Jose Rodriguez, D-El Paso, had this to say:
"This defunct law was the grounds for police to harass patrons of restaurants in my district resulting in a suit against the city of El Paso," he said, describing a 2009 incident where police arrested a same-sex couple for kissing. "Not only is the continued existence of this law on the books a source of misinformation to law enforcement, but in my own district local governments have been forced to spend their limited resources due to this misuse."
There's more to come of this story.
