I recognize that this is a joke, and that she is not really taken seriously in any context anyway, but with this coming right after National Coming Out Day, at the start of Ally Week and just days before Spirit Day, I thought this would be a good opportunity to talk about this idea of hers. There was a time in our culture's history when, if thousands of LGBT kids were to come out on the same day, the next week genuinely would be exactly what Ann describes, all across the country. Fathers disowning their sons and kicking them out onto the street. Mothers locking up their daughters or sending them to charm school. Children forced to undergo electro-shock or even worse forms of "therapy" to rid themselves of their orientation. To learn how to not be true to themselves.Okay, I get it. So when Dan Savage calls someone a Faggot, will they respond to that? Will someone talk to him about his ideas?

Politics aside, kind of, Coulter joined some of her fave boys, specifically Dallas cast member Taylor Garret and Jimmy LaSalvia of GO Proud, for a late lunch, and some reality show filming, in LA yesterday. It is unsure when Coulter’s episode as a LOGO guest star will end up airing, but there is no doubt there will be some rumblings and controversy as a result.I guess when your show only 100,000 viewers, you have to be desperate for something.
Today, GOProud, the only national organization of gay conservatives and their allies, announced that Ann Coulter was joining the organization’s Advisory Council as Honorary Chair. Coulter’s official title will be “Honorary Chair and Gay Icon.” “Ann Coulter is a brilliant and fearless leader of the conservative movement, we are honored to have her as part of GOProud’s leadership,” said Christopher Barron, Chairman of GOProud’s Board. “Ann helped put our organization on the map. Politics is full of the meek, the compromising and the apologists – Ann, like GOProud, is the exact opposite of all of those things. We need more Ann Coulters.”And they posted this clip
