Fox will host Live Easter Musical event The Passion with Tyler Perry

This is no joke.

TV Line reports that Fox will present a "star-packed production" of the musical The Passion on Palm Sunday. The other piece of this news is Tyler Perry will narrate and host the live musical event.

Who are these big stars? We don't know yet, but I'm sure it will be Country and Gospel music's big players. Here's more

Adam Anders (Glee) will arrange the musical numbers.The Passion is a modern retelling of the last days of Jesus of Nazareth’s life, ending with his crucifixion and resurrection. Fox’s ambitious staging will involve many iconic New Orleans locations, “culminating in a procession of hundreds carrying a 20-foo, illuminated cross from Champion Square outside the Superdome to the live stage at Woldenburg Park on the banks of the Mississippi River,” the network’s release states.The telecast will be produced by dick clark productions, Eye2Eye Media (which created a similar event, pictured at right, in The Netherlands in 2011) and Anders Media Inc.

Tyler Perry's films are for the dogs and the messages in these films are the worst, especially to Black Women. I have created a list of reasons why his messages are no good, out of date and very insulting to all Black Women.

1. Stay away from successful Black men because they are either an abuser, on the DL or have HIV.
2. Dark skinned men are mean and full of rage.
3. Most of you will end up single, drug addicted and a mother of kids with 3 different daddies.
4. If you go to church you will always have a good man.
5. Or if you don't go or stray away from the church, you will be an adulterer.
6. Pray hard enough and a good man will come.
7. If you want to be successful, you have to be cold and bougie.
8. Every Black man has a criminal past.
9. You have 8 out of 10 chances of being in a relationship with the wrong person for years.
10. A Man will always save the day.
11. If you are a Dark skinned woman more bad things will happen to you.
12. You can never trust another Black woman.   
13. You have to be Christian if you want a good life.

"I said to one of my producers, who else is out there that young people are looking up to?' One of my producers showed me pictures that his daughter had taken of several hundred kids lined up around the corner to get into a Kardashian store. They wanted to meet Kim. I thought, what better person! She literally has millions of young people following her. I thought and still do think, that it would be very responsible of her to be a part of this film. To have the young people that look up to her, see her in a film that is about, what happens in life when you make the wrong choices."

The Cast of ''For Colored Girls Who Have Considered Suicide When the Rainbow is Enuf"

Tyler Perry has announced his cast for the classic play, they are:

Janet Jackson, Mariah Carey, Whoopi Goldberg, Phylicia Rashad, Jurnee Smollett, Kimberly Elise, Kerry Washington, and Macy Gray.

The film is scheduled to shoot in June of this year.

The story is wonderful and very real. I remember my friends acting in this play in college.

The riveting play, consisting of a series of poems performed through a cast of nameless women, known only by a color -- deal with such subjects as love, abandonment, rape, and abortion, garnered much acclaim, becoming the toast of Broadway when it opened at The Booth Theater in 1976.

"Making a film of 'For Colored Girls Who Have Considered Suicide When The Rainbow is Enuf' is a dream come true for me," Perry said about the project. "Ntozake Shange's play is a magnificent tribute to the strength and dignity of women of color, and I think audiences of all generations will be able to recognize and embrace the experiences these women represent. Creatively, this movie is one of the most exciting undertakings of my career."

Spike Lee ain't feeling Tyler Perry

Spike Lee had some words for Tyler Perry, check out this clip

Tyler's upset, but does Spike have a point?

Of course folks like Medea and House of Payne, but seriously, it's not cute.

For me, Perry's work is a bit too much. It's always, God will save that lonely and warned down woman with the country family with a crooked past.

And that statement about "people like this exist", yes they do, I just don't want to be reminded of that.
