CNN Suspends Roland S. Martin
CNN just suspended Roland for his insensitive tweet on Sunday. Here is their statement:
“Roland Martin’s tweets were regrettable and offensive. Language that demeans is inconsistent with the values and culture of our organization, and is not tolerated. We have been giving careful consideration to this matter, and Roland will not be appearing on our air for the time being.”Roland hasn't said anything yet. More to come.

Should Roland S. Martin be Fired? No.
Earlier, I posted Roland's tweet about smacking a dude if he's excited about David Beckham's underwear. Since then, gay activists and Roland has been going back and forth on Twitter and beyond. He claims it was a joke, but refuses to see how it could be harmful.
Now GLAAD wants him to be fired:
“Martin has a history of anti-LGBT views. GLAAD is calling on him to be fired, joining many other LGBT activists and bloggers,”So far, CNN hasn't respond, but when I thought about it, this may be a bit much.
Yes, Roland was wrong and his weak apology on his website ain't cute either; however, this doesn't render Roland to be fired. For one, he wasn't at his job, he was at home. If he was on CNN running his mouth on TV, then yes, kick him out. But he was at home, off the clock.
Second reason, the statement was not directly advocating violence against gays. The statement was loose and far tamed than many things we have seen against us. However, it was not okay and Roland needs to seriously think about what he said.
So to wrap this up; I believe he should be seriously reprimanded, but I can't see this as a reason for Roland to be fired.
Please let me know what you think.

We are STILL talking about this?

Leave Janet alone! And let this foolishness die!
The Janet Jackson breast flash incident will not die!
The 3rd Circuit Court of Appeals in Philadelphia had thrown out the FCC's $550,000 fine against CBS as arbitrary, only to have the U.S. Supreme Court kick it back down for review. The Supreme Court pointed to its ruling in a Fox Television-led challenge, when it said the FCC could threaten fines over the use of a single curse word on live TV.
The FCC argued Tuesday that CBS was duly warned that its 2004 halftime performers might add some shock value to the act. Jackson's choreographer had promised as much, FCC lawyer Jacob Lewis said. During the act, singer Justin Timberlake ripped off Jackson's bustier, exposing her breast for nine-sixteenths of a second.
"There were considerable alarm bells about deviating from the script," Lewis told the 3rd Circuit panel. "CBS had a duty to investigate."
Is it that serious Supreme Court? Really?

Great Hera... Another Super Bowl Ad?

Focus on the Family is coming out swinging!
They have bought airtime for a 2nd ad! I thought these cretins were broke!
Take note folks, these are our enemies and they have the people power and money to back them up. We need to keep them close at all times. If the Prop 8 case goes in our favor, watch them. The evangelical group that bought ad time in the CBS game telecast will announce today that it has bought time in the pregame show to air a second ad four times.
The new ad also features star quarterback Tim Tebow and his mother, Pam. It was filmed in Orlando last month at the same time as the group's controversial — though yet unseen — in-game ad.
News of the second ad comes just days after, anticipating the Tebow ad, Planned Parenthood posted an online ad featuring Olympian Al Joyner and former NFL player Sean James defending abortion rights. Interest groups including the National Organization for Women have asked CBS to drop the Tebow ad.
Although Focus on the Family won't reveal its ads' details, CEO Jim Daly says the original ad was rejected by CBS. In it, Pam Tebow, who was advised by a doctor to have an abortion for medical reasons when pregnant with her son, said, "Both of our lives were at risk."

Another Hot Mess Superbowl Ad Rejection
Good Grief
Friday, January 29, 2010
UPDATE: No ManCrunch

CBS will not air the broke ass gay dating site ManCrunch.
However they said, "the ad is not within the Network's Broadcast Standards for Super Bowl Sunday"
They have standards? Ha!

No ManCrunch ads, please
CBS took a hit on their decision from many groups. But now, they are trying to extend the olive branch by possibly showing a gay ad, from ManCrunch.
This is it
Their slogan reads “Where Many Many Many Men Come Out to Play”
This ad may not get aired, I hope not. If we are going to have an ad, make it something of substance; something about gay families, gay teens or allies standing with us.
Just something more. something else.

Interesting Quote: Tim Tebow

"I know some people won't agree with it, but I think they can at least respect that I stand up for what I believe, and I'm never shy about that. I don't feel like I'm very preachy about it, but I do stand up for what I believe. Unfortunately in today's society not many athletes tend to do that. So I'm just standing for something."
