Pic of the Week: Howard University students

The students of Howard University took this pic to send a message about the horrible actions in Ferguson

So powerful and sad, that in this day and age, we still have to prove ourselves worthy of life.

Anti-Gay Howard University Students plan to Boycott Tonex’s concert

I used to think Howard University was more sensible than most, but after this mess, I don't know.

Over-Talented Tonex a.k.a B. Slade will be performing there this Sunday for a Gospel Brunch, however bigoted students are upset about him being there. You see, Tonex is gay and has been making beautiful music for awhile now. Still these folks are scared of a gay Christian, so instead of embracing the truth, they want to boycott it.

They created the Facebook page, “Don’t support Tonex concert” and a Twitter handle, @BoycottTonex. The page and twitter are gone now, but their hate is still evident. I hope the gay students and allies combat this foolishness. This ain't the stone ages and we ain't burning witches, so these bigots need to get it together.

I'm sure there will be more to the story.

Howard University files a Brief against Prop 8

Historic!

One of the oldest Black Universities has filed a brief to strike down Prop 8

Here's their intro statement:
As one of the oldest among historically black colleges and universities, Howard University School of Law has long placed the defense of human rights, equality and dignity at the heart of its educational practice.

This Court faces the question of whether marriage should be equally available to same-sex couples as to opposite-sex couples. In seeking to answer the question, the Court will inevitably confront—directly or indirectly—the argument that the struggle for equal rights for same-sex couples does not constitutionally or morally equate with the fight against racial subordination. Amicus curiae respectfully submits this brief as a corrective to the flawed distinction too often drawn between equal rights for racial minorities and equal rights for all human beings.
