Who in the Hell asked for a ROOTS reboot?

No Ma'am!

The cable network, History, wants to remake ROOTS. I'm not kidding, they really want to do it.

Deadline reports that the cable network is planning a new eight-hour miniseries. They also plan to use the book Alex Haley wrote and the original mini from a contemporary perspective to put the series together. History has secured the rights and will start soon.

But seriously, I don't want to see this. We already have the original, we don't need an updated version. And what's with Hollywood's obsession with slavery? That wasn't a great time in our lives, can we get out of the Slave phase please? You want to tell Black stories, then let's focus on the our current lives. Nobody's checking for an 8-hours miniseries about slavery!

This is too much in the morning for me.

Not only that, but the original was perfect. Remaking it would be like remaking Grapes of Wrath.

I'm telling you, Hollywood is running out of ideas when they have to reboot this, Murder She Wrote and Remington Steele.

I said the same exact thing!

Craziness. And stupidity.

I agree. Roots was great, leave its legacy intact. Why not a nice film and/or documentary about the Buffalo Soldiers, the Harlem Renaissance, the Panthers or the early days of disco/hip hop?

Something other than another slavery flick.
