8 Reasons why Edward Snowden is NOT a Hero

I don't know who start this or who truly believes in this, but this 'Edward Snowden is a Hero' stuff is nonsense.

The last time I checked, a Hero sacrifice themselves for the greater good, or fight for the rights of others without leaving a mess to clean up. Superman, Gandhi, MLK... These are heroes, but this millennial techie? Not so much, folks and here are my reasons why:

1. Heroes don't betray the trust of others. Edward swore an oath and then threw it away. He's basically someone who thinks he's always right and because of that, will do what he thinks is best, regardless if it hurts others.
2. Heroes don't put their friends in danger or in jeopardy. Now all of his friends will be watched and possibly called into question. With them caught in the middle of this mess unaware, they have no way to defend themselves.
3. Heroes don't leave their lovers out. His girlfriend has no idea what's going on, or why he did what he did. Now, like his friends, she's in it.
4. Heroes think about the overall effect. He didn't it, he just thought about the here and now.
5. Heroes don't run and hide. Edward vanished, where is he?
6. Heroes stand up for what they believe in and face the fire, not run away from the heat.
7. Heroes are not self-indulgent or selfish. Snowden... Well, it's now all about him.
8. Heroes don't act alone, they believe in teamwork. Again, Snowden went out on his own.

To me, Snowden is a guy who wanted a moment in history. He saw his chance and took it, but at the same time, he fu*ked things up. He left his loved ones in mess, a country in a state of disarray, and top secret info out there for anyone to use and abuse.

Does that sounds like a hero to you?
