I'm signing up for summer classes in the Cinema School and I'm freaking out. In one course, I will have to create a pilot for a TV series. I'm trying to get stared now, but I'm lost.
I have a lot thoughts, characters and ideas, however I can't decide what to focus on. Here are some of my ideas so far:
- After a failed attempt to set his school on fire, a gay teen is forced to go to an alternative school. Turns out it is an all Gay High School.
- A Gay Guy's final year in college proves to be full of drama as his love life, secret past and post-college plans collide.
- After her kids are grown and our their own, a mother starts the second leg of her life.
- A Former Circuit boy decides to change his life by taking his Grandmother's old house and turning it into a foster home for LGBT youth.
- A man's boyfriend was murdered by a cult. His lost turns into rage and begins seeking revenge on this group. But on his journey, he learns that his bf was into something far more dark and deadly than he could ever imagine.

Hey... I'm SURE you'll be great... Relax... Don't stress it...
I like the one about the circuit boy.
I really like the former Circuit Boy idea, especially as a redemption story, but I actually think you can do very much more with the cult story.
The foster home for LGBT kids sounds like it has a lot of potential. I can see a lot of interesting characters being developed, and having fiercely funny and emotional moments.
Moreover, you can touch on important themes like redefining family, homophobia, gay-teen angst, self-acceptance, redemption.
My only suggestion is to change the lead from a Circuit Boy gone good (seems far fetched), to a once powerful and successful GUPPIE, going back to his past in order to find purpose.
Maybe the Circuit Boy could be someone that was hired to help with the kids.
@Allan-I sorta disagree and want to reverse it, maybe the Guppie can be the ex-circuit boys current love interest. Maybe even slightly fighting him for wanting to do this as well as having to share his time with the kids. (Maybe he's the financial source that makes it possible, which gives him a bit of power.) Having worked with LGBT youth it's a good thing to have that kind of experience under your belt when dealing with gay youth. A been there done that guy would be great for a group of cast-off kids. Even necessary to some degree. It'll be easier for an ex-circuit guy to understand and recognize issues and struggles that a gay youth will be dealing with and the trappings that that environment can solicit. There will still be new things and issues raised that may be difficult or hard but he would have a better foundation than most straight and narrow folk.
What would be the age range of the kids Vik? If you can't tell, I like this idea the best too! :)
I like the one about the home for LGBT kids and the gay guy in college one. If it's going to be a pilot, ou need to be setting up the characters, right?
The cult one looks lik e it could be the most ionteresting series as we find out more about the boyfriend..its pretty dark though....
I think you should include some superhero stuff in the script!
Wilson, the kids will be from 10 to 17. One will be a porn star or an escort who uses his money to stay alive
Cool Vik! Escort would probably make more sense, because I imagine it would be difficult to be a porn star in the foster care system. But knowing some folks who have survived foster care, and I do mean survived, it wouldn't be much of a leap to see someone acting out that way considering the kind of abuse that happens in those systems. Very cool idea but it would need to be on pay cable to really explore it as well as I know you could! Plus, he could start out hookin' and work up to the other stuff within the series.
