Interesting Quote: David Duke

“I think these Jewish extremists have made a terribly crazy miscalculation, because all they’re going to be doing by doing a Never Trump movement is exposing their alien, their anti-American, anti-American majority position… They’re going to push people more into an awareness that that the neo-cons are the problem, that these Jewish supremacists who control our country are the real problem, and the reason why America is not great.”

U.S. Justice Department says HB2 violates federal Civil Rights Act

And speaking on HB2... The U.S. Justice Department officials just let Gov. Pat McCrory know that HB2 violates the U.S. Civil Rights Act.

In fact, the Justice Department sent a letter informing him that if they keep HB2, North Carolina could lose millions in federal school funding.

Here's more:
In the letter, Valita Gupta, principal deputy assistant attorney general, said, “”...The Department of Justice has determined that, as a result of compliance with and implementation of NC House Bill2, both you and the state of NC are in violation of Title VII of the Civil Rights Act 0f 1964...

“Title VII prohibits an employer from discriminating against an individual on the basis of sex and from otherwise resisting the full enjoyment of Title VII rights....

“Federal courts and administrative agencies have applied Title VII to discrimination against transgender individuals based on sex, including gender identity....

“Access to sex-segregated restrooms and other workplace facilities consistent with gender identity is a term, condition or privilege of employment. Denying such access to transgender individuals, whose gender identity is different from the gender assigned at birth, while affording it to similarly situated non-transgender employees, violates Title VII …

“HB 2...is facially discriminatory against transgender employees on the basis of sex because it treats transgender employees, whose gender identity does not match their biological sex, as defined by HB2, differently from similarly situated non transgender employees…

Based upon the above, we have concluded that in violation of Title VII, the state is engaged in a pattern or practice of resistance to the full enjoyment of Title VII rights byu employees of public agencies…

“Please advise the department, therefore, no later than the close of business on May 9, 2016, whether you will remedy these violations of Title VII including by confirming that the state will not comply with or implement HB2....

“We further inform you that that today the department sent letters addressed to the NC Department of Public Safety and the University of NC similarly notifying them of our conclusion that they have engaged in violations of Title VII as well as violations of Title IX.”
I bet Pat's face is cracked and on the ground in many small pieces.

Beyonce speaks out against HB2

King Bey has spoken out against the Anti-LGBT bill HB2.

On her site, she wrote
“As The Formation World Tour makes its stop in the Tar Heel state in the midst of such a controversial time, we think it is important for us to bring attention to those who are committed to being good and carrying on the message of equality in this core of controversy. Among the many organizations doing the good work to get this bill overturned, there is Equality NC, a local organization dedicated to securing equal rights and justice for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer (LGBTQ) North Carolinians.

To accomplish these goals, Equality NC tirelessly lobbies the North Carolina General Assembly, executive branch, and local governments, broadcast LGBT news, stories and content, and mobilize our communities on issues that matter, including marriage equality, parental rights, inclusive anti-bullying policies, employment discrimination, hate violence, privacy rights, sexuality education, adoption, domestic partnerships, and HIV/AIDS.

Is John Kasich Dropping Out?

Lord, it only gets worse.

Ted Cruz is out and possibly, John Kasich!

He canceled a trip to Washington today and a press conference. Folks are speculating that he's getting out of the race. If that's the case, Trump will be the GOP nominee. Scary stuff, I'll keep y'all posted.

New study: Atlanta homeless LGBT youth numbers are Growing

I saw this in the GA Voice and cringed. I can't believe this info. Who would've thought?

So, let's jump to it. A Georgia State study revealed that over 950 of the 3,374 homeless youth in the metro Atlanta are LGBT.

GA Voice reports:
That’s a 27 percent increase over a previously reported estimate of 750 LGBT homeless youth in the area.

The new findings come from Georgia State University’s 2015 Atlanta Youth Count and Needs Assessment (AYCNA), which took place from May through July of last year and involved 50 Georgia State and Emory University students scouring the metro Atlanta area to count homeless youth between the ages of 14 and 25.

“Certainly the fact that well over one-in-four homeless youth identify as LGBT, the 6.5 percent that identify as transgender, all of those sadly reinforce what we have known anecdotally for a really long time—that homelessness among young LGBT people is something we really need to focus on,” said Georgia Equality executive director Jeff Graham, who was in attendance at the Tuesday press conference.
And...
Other troubling numbers from the study concerned Atlanta’s homeless transgender youth.

Transgender and gender nonconforming homeless youth reported higher rates of sexual activity, with 37.8 percent reporting sexual activity with six or more partners in the past year versus an overall average of 22.6 percent who reported the same.

Over half of the transgender and gender nonconforming homeless youth reported being the victim of sexual abuse and nearly all—93.1 percent—reported that they had been paid for sex.

There were, however, some surprising numbers on HIV testing and infection. 88.5 percent of the total respondents reported being tested for HIV at least once ever, with four out of five in that group saying they’d had a test in the past year. And only 2.7 percent of the overall group reported being HIV positive, with 2.8 percent saying they didn’t know their status.

Marvel Studios Directors hope to bring LGBT Characters in Marvel Cinematic Universe

Marvel Studios mega directors Joe and Anthony Russo recently addressed the idea of a LGBT character (or more) showing up in one of their films.

This is what they had to say
“I think the chances are strong. I mean, it’s incumbent upon us as storytellers who are making mass-appeal movies to make mass-appeal movies, and to diversify as much as possible. It’s sad in the way that Hollywood lags behind other industries so significantly, one because you think that it would be a progressive industry, and two it’s such a visible industry. So I think it’s important that on all fronts we keep pushing for diversification because then the storytelling becomes more interesting, more rich, and more truthful."
Yes, adding in diverse characters is key for any major successful project. Marvel has LGBT characters, and we should see more of them. In Agents of SHIELD, we have one gay male character. Hopefully, in the next year we will gain a few more.

We deserve to be heroes too.

Ted Cruz QUITS the Presidential Race

From NBC News
Texas Sen. Ted Cruz will end his presidential campaign on Tuesday after failing to top Donald Trump in the Indiana Republican primary, a high level campaign source tells NBC News.

NBC News projects Cruz will finish second, well behind Trump in a state that was crucial for Cruz to win in order to prevent Trump from gaining the 1,237 delegates needed to secure the presidential nomination.

Over the past week, Cruz said he would remain in the race as long as a "viable path" to the nomination exists. But Trump's commanding victory is projected to deliver him well over 40 delegates, making it unlikely the frontrunner fails in getting a majority of the delegates.
