Little Treasure in Wal-Mart

I found this wonderful item at the Wal-Mart in Eau Claire, WI!

A Wonder Woman piggy bank!!!

My co-worker saw it and knew I would want it. So, for $10 bucks, I got it.

It's considered to be rare. Folks are paying $40 and $50 dollars for her, but I got her very cheap.

Now, how to get her back to LA in one piece?

Gallup Poll: 63% support Gay Adoptions

More news from a recent Gallup poll.

63% of Americans believe same-sex couples should have the legal right to adopt a child. Those numbers are extremely high from 20 years ago.

Here's more:
These findings are from Gallup's May 8-11 Values and Beliefs survey. Gallup has been asking slight variations of this question since 1992. Overall, support has shifted from a clear majority in the 1990s saying same-sex or homosexual couples should not be legally permitted to adopt children to the opposite now.

Americans' support for adoption by same-sex couples is higher than their support for same-sex marriage, measured in a recent Gallup poll showing majority support for same-sex marriage at 55%. According to an expert in public policy related to lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender people, Gary Gates of the Williams Institute at the UCLA School of Law, this is not unusual.

"In general, adults in the U.S. continue to be more supportive of same-sex parenting than legal recognition of same-sex relationships or comfortableness with same-sex sexual behavior," said Gates. "Laws in the U.S. have reflected this pattern in public support. Many states in the U.S. that have not formally repealed sodomy laws, despite the U.S. Supreme Court declaring such statutes unconstitutional, and that do not recognize marriage for same-sex couples include jurisdictions that allow same-sex couples to adopt children."

Interesting Quote: Phill Wilson, president of the Black AIDS Institute

"The fight is today. It’s a fight that we need to have and it’s certainly tied to access to care, it’s tied to access to information, but it’s also tied to making sure that we understand that everybody matters. Now the new folks that don’t matter in this context are young, black, gay and bisexual men and all of us need to be part of that fight because as we found out in the early days of HIV, HIV spread like it spread because we didn’t care about the first folks that we perceived to be at risk. And as long as anyone is at risk ... to paraphrase Martin Luther King Jr., we’re all at risk."

Donald Sterling sues NBA for $1 Billion

Donald Sterling isn't ready to lay down and die. This fool is suing the NBA for $1 billion for their decision to ban him for life and forcing him to sell the team.

CNN reports:
Sterling’s camp, in its lawsuit, claims that the move to terminate his ownership “is unconstitutional, in breach of contract, in restraint of trade, in breach of fiduciary duties and … is malicious and oppressive.”
Among other allegations, Sterling says in the lawsuit that he never violated the NBA’s constitution and that the recording that spawned this scandal — and that recording, it says, is the sole base of the NBA charges against him — is against California law.

The lawsuit also states that “the forced sale of the Los Angeles Clippers threatens not only to produce a lower price than a non-forced sale, but more importantly, it injures competition and forces antitrust injury by making the … market unresponsive to … the operation of the free market.”

“(Sterling believes) that the NBA’s forced sale … would create damages of at least $1 billion, which includes capital gains taxes, unnecessary and increased investment-banking fees, legal and transactional costs, and the loss of all future appreciation in the Los Angeles Clippers franchise value,” it adds.
Lord... And his wife is moving forward, trying to sell the team. So, how is this happening?

We will see how this mess unfolds.

Florida's Attorney General said Same Sex Marriages would "impose significant public harm.

Is Florida's attorney general serious?

In March, 8 same-sex couples filed for the right to recognize same sex marriages from other states. With all of the other suits having success, you would think it would be easy, right?

Well, no. The Attorney General Pam Bondi is against the idea. In fact she thinks it would "impose significant public harm." Her, along with Gov. Rick Scott filed a response asking to throw out the lawsuit for several reasons, saying a federal court shouldn't rule on a state's marriage laws.

Here's more
Bondi's office also argues that the state has a legitimate interest in defining marriage as between a man and woman. Florida first banned same-sex marriages nearly two decades ago and voters reinforced that ban when they passed a constitutional amendment in 2008.

"Florida's marriage laws, then, have a close, direct, and rational relationship to society's legitimate interest in increasing the likelihood that children will be born to and raised by the mothers and fathers who produced them in stable and enduring family units," Bondi's office said in court documents.
Folks on our side, wasn't having any of that:
Florida's Democrats and gay rights groups were also highly critical of Bondi's legal response as was one of Bondi's political opponents.

But the attorney general's office said they had an obligation to defend the state's existing laws.

"Florida's voters approved a constitutional amendment, which is being challenged, and it is the Attorney General's duty to defend Florida law," said Florida Solicitor General Allen Winsor.

Winsor also insisted that the harm mentioned in the filing had to do with the legal challenge itself.

"Florida is harmed whenever a federal court enjoins enforcement of its laws, including the laws at issue here," he said.
