Someone lay hands on The Oklahoman newspaper

The Oklahoman newspaper must be going broke to run this cartoon.

Folks are not feeling it and some women's groups are outraged. The editor of the Oklahoman did not return any calls for comment...figures.

I'm mortified the artist even thought about drawing this political cartoon. Is there no modicum of respect left? I understand the point to the toon, but reverse it, had it been the President, "44" hanging from that tree, there would have been all kinds of uproar.

Then again, I haven't turned on CNN, MSNBC or any other news channel to hear about this yet....

I thought is was a political cartoon... Aren't they sort of supposed to be irreverent and poke fun of real issues? I thought that was kind of the point of them, to lampoon idiocy in all it's glory. I just don't get it, could someone please explain why this is a big deal? I honestly don't understand why it is. She's a Latina, so the pinata reference makes sense to me. The GOP is preparing to whack the shit out of her. Which they pretty much already have been. The media hounds are there drooling for it. Obama by nominating her "hung the pinata" as it were. So please someone explain what is so outrageous about this, I sincerely do not understand.

Is it because she's a Latina, and they're making her a pinata? That's the only thing I can come up with on my own that is pissing folks off. So it's racist because of that. Am I starting to get it now? Vyktor, would you send me an explanation when you get the time please? I'm sorry to be so blind, but I need help understanding this thing. Thanks

It's that, the hanging brings up issues for some folks, and the sexist views of her offenders. Plus the newspaper is known to be highly conservative.

I'm used this type stuff, but I understand how others may not. She will be the 1st Latina, so emotions are very high

Thanks very much, I get it now. I didn't realize they're known for that sort of thing. Sort of like the Columbus Dispatch, they only print anything if Republicans would agree with it. Any other sort of thought is immediately put down as liberal nonsense. It's like we are still in the old country with the new here too.
