David Carradine Found Dead

This is sad news.
Actor David Carradine, star of the 1970s TV series "Kung Fu" who also had a wide-ranging career in the movies, has been found dead in the Thai capital, Bangkok. A news report said he was found hanged in his hotel room and was believed to have committed suicide.

A spokesman for the U.S. Embassy, Michael Turner, confirmed the death of the 72-year-old actor. He said the embassy was informed by Thai authorities that Carradine died either late Wednesday or early Thursday, but he could not provide further details out of consideration for his family.

The Web site of the Thai newspaper The Nation cited unidentified police sources as saying Carradine was found Thursday hanged in his luxury hotel room.

My heart goes out to his family

I'm just shocked about this. Hopefully he found some sort of peace.

I wonder why he committed suicide. If he did, hanging seems like a bad way to do it unless you know what you're doing and break your neck. It's so hard on families and friends when someone dies like that. It's the ultimate hang-up call and hard to get closure. I would do it, though, if my quality of life were going to be decreased to the point I was dependent and couldn't take care of myself. I'd let people know ahead of time (and already have) because I do not want to get to that point.

This seems strange and wrong for him. I hope he wasn't murdered. We'll probably find out more later on. Very sad.

People in the suicidal frame of mind are strange animals. I've been there myself, so I'm not judging. The whole experience is surreal and difficult to share unless you've been at your lowest point, you really can't connect on what's going on emotionally to someone else.

I, for one, have very fond memories of David Carradine from childhood. It was the one peaceful thing that brought my crazy family together...we all sat and watched Kung Fu together. Family bonding....

If he did hang himself, I'm sure with his knowledge of martial arts, he knew how to pull this off skillfully. Still, so sad.

So bizarre. It just came out of the blue, but I suppose there was more going on that he let on. He was there shooting a movie after all.

I've been there, too, and have battled depression. It's not a rational decision by any means. I just didn't want to keep feeling that way. Fortunately, I got help when it was at its worst and haven't gotten to that point again.

When I was that depressed, it was too much trouble to plan it much less carry through on anything. Depressed people think about every single step it takes to do anything and are worn out before they even get out of the chair. If I could have covered up and just let it happen, I could have followed through passively.

When I said it seemed wrong, I wasn't judging but saying it seemed out of character. We never really know what's going on with other people. Suicide leaves so many unanswered questions, doesn't it?
