"We stand by Life with Archie #16. As I’ve said before, Riverdale is a safe, welcoming place that does not judge anyone. It’s an idealized version of America that will hopefully become reality someday. We’re sorry the American Family Association/OneMillionMoms.com feels so negatively about our product, but they have every right to their opinion, just like we have the right to stand by ours. Davy Jones is Dead

This is sad to talk about... Davy Jones died of a heart attack today.  I had a crush on Davy when Nickelodeon used to run the old Monkees series. He was so cute and short.

Davy was still touring with Peter Tork and Mickey Dolenz as The Monkees

Change Atlanta apologizes for their Foolish actions against Brandon White

After their foolish actions blew up in their face, Change Atlanta front apologizes for 'appearing' to turn his back on Brandon White.

GA Voice reports
Many in Atlanta's LGBT community are criticizing Change Atlanta on Facebook and various websites for the group’s apparent about-face in its support of Brandon White, the young gay man who was beaten in a filmed attack that went viral on the internet.
Now one of the leaders of the fledgling group says he has “learned his lesson” in how he dealt with the incident, which he acknowledges included questioning whether White was lying about knowing the attackers, “cuddling up” with one of the suspect's defense attorneys on TV and not understanding that many in the LGBT community have been victims of anti-gay violence.

"Yes, we have gotten some flack. And I'm glad I'm learning this lesson at 21 rather and not at 41,” Devin Barrington-Ward said told the GA Voice in an interview Feb. 28. “My youth and immaturity played into this. I will always reflect back on this when I'm 60 or 70.”

Change Atlanta is not specifically an LGBT advocacy organization but has several gay leaders. Ward said he wants to take responsibility for his actions, and how he deals with his mistake will determine if he will be welcomed back into the larger LGBT community.

"This is a touchy subject in the LGBT community. Many people have told me they have been victims, their friends have been victims or their family members have been victims. I'm a young man and I made a mistake,” Ward said.
Yes, you did make mistake and it was costly. Change Atlanta's rush to judgment could have frighten many LGBT victims to stay silent. They should have known better to hold two televised press conferences using assumptions and rumors.

Perhaps next time, they will think before they act.

More Folks in California approve of Marriage Equality

More Cali peeps are supporting gay marriage. It's up to 59%, a high number, but not a high majority. But the numbers within different groups are growing fast.

There were increases in the Republican, Latino and Catholic groups.

But back to my "not a high majority" statement.

59% is good, however it's not enough to push marriage equality on the ballot. Many Cali orgs. would love to see 65 or more in the polls. We feel that would be high enough to return to the ballot.

Still, this increase is great and we can only go up from here.

One Million Heifers threatens Toys R Us over Archie Comics

These women are either unloved or busy bodies. After their failed attempt to get Ellen booted from JC Penney, they go after Toys R Us.

Why? Because they carry the Archie Comic with Kevin and his husband on the cover. These heifers even wrote their whinny letter to Toy R Us just to make them squirm?
As a mother and a member of OneMillionMoms.com, I am extremely disappointed to learn that select Toys 'R' Us stores are now selling 'Archie' comic books with a same-sex wedding displayed on the front cover. I am referring to the ones where the front cover reads "Just Married" with two men marrying, one wearing a service uniform.

I am aware that Toys 'R' Us employees do not actually set up the displays; they leave this up to the vendor. Your company should be aware of the merchandise being sold in your stores nonetheless. These comic books are displayed at the front checkout counters so they are highly visible to employees, managers, customers and children.

Unfortunately, children are now being exposed to same-sex marriage in your toy store. This is the last place a parent would expect to be confronted with questions from their children on topics that are too complicated for them to understand. Issues of this nature are being introduced too early and too soon, which is becoming extremely common and unnecessary.

A trip to the toy store turns into a premature discussion on sexual orientation and is completely uncalled for. Toys 'R' Us should be more responsible in the products they carry.

Please remove all the same-sex "Just Married - Archie" comic books immediately from your shelves. My decision to shop in your stores depends on it.

I look forward to hearing from you regarding my concern.
Girls please, this is Toys R Us. They could buy you and primp y'all on Sunset Blvd. Try someone else, someone you can actually scare.

Meet the Gay Marine and his Man

New Poster: The Avengers

Question of the Day

I always wanted a twin brother. I thought it would be fun with 2 of me, or us running around. But what always stumped me was the kind of person he would be.

I thought about this over the years and came up with this notion. I think he would be named Doriron and he would be a more feisty and arrogant version of myself.

We would get along, but we would be the most fierce competitors for attention. Our fashion sense would be all over the place and he would be a bit more sex positive than me. I keep my slutty side inside and he would let it all hang out.

So my question for you all... If you had a twin, how would their personalities differ from yours or would you two be just alike?

How I would create the Vampire Mythos... If I had to

Since there are like 10 vampire movies coming out this year and next, I wondered... Could I tell a vampire tale?

And would I want too? Actually no, I'm not a vampire fan (even though I like Buffy, Vamp, Fright Night and True Blood). However, if I was given 7 figures, I could come up with an origin story of vampires.

Cue in the bullet point outline....
  • I would create a vampire mythos that makes them the last beings roaming the earth before Adam and Eve. Those beings are the children of the FIRST and forgotten couple, Lilith and Saulham.
  • Lilith and Saulham's betrayed their Gods to believe in only one God. Those Gods cursed Lilith and Saulham's children by turning them into deformed and monstrous things that could only roam the night and feed on the dead.
  • These cursed beings stayed hidden for many centuries, until they were discovered by a mad African king, Seb.
  •  Through his wizards' magic, Seb forced these beings to conquer villages and kingdoms in his name.
  • Seb used sex and sorcery to breed these demons with his women prisoners and slaves. The women gave birth to many of these hybrid babies. All of them had cold ivory skin. None of the women survive, some of the babies died.
  • One of the wizards, Fa'koe, took the surviving brood and raised them. They became adults in several months.
  • They have special powers, making them noble and treated as blessed beings.
  • With the help of the brood, Fa'koe overthrows Seb and becomes the new king. However, it was short-lived. One of the brood, a woman, killed Fa'koe and took his mystical powers.
  • The brood attacked Seb/Fa'koe's kingdom. The ones that survived were turned into beings just like the brood through their enchanted blood.
  • The brood woman, Ankysh, formed a new kingdom of demons that fed from the blood of their enemies in the night and hid from the sun.
  • They traveled many places, forming kingdoms in Africa, Egypt, India and Asia.
  • Some of the brood died, while a new generation lived on through the blood of others.
  • In another 1,000 years, the brood are named Vampires.
That's my take. This is what happens at the last hour at work for me.

Meet the new Carrie Bradshaw

The prequel series to "Sex and The City" is happening (whether we like it or not). "The Carrie Diaries" set to premier on the CW next fall and they got their Carrie.

Her name is AnnaSophia Robb, the teenage Carrie Bradshaw.

This series will explore Carrie's life before the madness and fashion of NYC. Oh, and she has a sister, I didn't know Carrie had a sister.

I wonder if they treat it like Buffy's sister Dawn? I guess we'll see.

Alan Ball is leaving True Blood

Oh no! Word is Alan Ball is leaving True Blood!

Blastr reports
Rumors of Ball's departure from the series began circulating early Friday, and then were confirmed Friday afternoon by Forbes' Roger Friedman. Friedman cites "exhaustion" as the chief explanation for Ball's departure from the show, which he developed from Charlaine Harris' Sookie Stackhouse novels. But even though he's no longer planning to lead the series, Ball seems to be willing to at least hang around in some capacity.

"Ball will still be with the show, I'm told, but a new regime will guide the fates of the characters into their new season," Friedman said. "This could also very well be a money issue, as series tend to get more and more expensive as they drag on."

That seems to indicate that season four was Ball's last season as the guiding force of the show, but we don't yet know who will be stepping in to fill that void. Ball's co-executive producer Gregg Fienberg, who's been with the show since season two, is probably a good guess, but HBO hasn't said anything about any of these developments yet, so we'll just have to wait and see.
I hope they get someone good. Hell, I'll do it.

Now, Santorum SUPPORTS the Separation of Church and State

What a different 24 hours make. Just after claiming how the idea of separating of church and state makes him want to throw up; he takes it all back:
Speaking to a suburban Detroit chamber of commerce, Santorum said the interpretation of the Constitution's freedom of religion provision has been "turned on its head," and offered his own.

"I'm for separation of church and state: The state has no business telling the church what do to," the former Pennsylvania senator told about 300 local business leaders at the Livonia and Farmington chambers of commerce breakfast.
That's funny. I guess he's just like Mittens, eh? Flip-flopping like a mutha sucka.

The Supreme Court refused NOM's appeal

One of my future Law students pointed this out to me today. The Supreme Court refused to hear a case from the grand haters, NOM. They were trying to appeal a hearing that will make them release the info on their donors.

Here is the piece from SCOTUSblog:
Besides turning down both of those petitions, the Supreme Court on Monday refused to hear a constitutional challenge to a Maine law that requires those seeking to raise and spend money in state election campaigns to organize as a political action committee for that activity, and make significant disclosures about their financial operations.   That was challenged in a petition, National Organization for Marriage v. McKee (11-599), after the state law was upheld by the First Circuit Court.  The NOM is an organizations set up to promote the traditional view of marriage as being reserved solely for opposite-sex couples.  It argued in challenging the PAC requirement that states do not have the constitutional authority to impose such obligations unless an organization has election campaign activity as its “major purpose.”
Ha Ha, NOM!

Question of the Day

Well, what did you think about the Oscars? Too much, overblown or just right...

Interesting Quote: Gov. Christine Gregoire

"I think we probably have succeeded as much as we have because of his leadership. He's used the bully pulpit. He's been the inspiration that allowed the state of Washington recognize that we need to have equality. It's because of what he's been able to do that I actually think in large part we were able to achieve what we did. So I don't criticize. To the contrary, I thank the president for his leadership on GLBT issues."

Rick Santorum says Separation of Church and State is NOT Absolute

This man is crazy

This is the entire statement via ABC News
“I don’t believe in an America where the separation of church and state is absolute. The idea that the church can have no influence or no involvement in the operation of the state is absolutely antithetical to the objectives and vision of our country,” said Santorum. “This is the First Amendment. The First Amendment says the free exercise of religion. That means bringing everybody, people of faith and no faith, into the public square. Kennedy for the first time articulated the vision saying, no, ‘faith is not allowed in the public square. I will keep it separate.’ Go on and read the speech ‘I will have nothing to do with faith. I won’t consult with people of faith.’ It was an absolutist doctrine that was foreign at the time of 1960,” he said.

ABC's New Pilot basically copies 'American Horror Story'

Okay, here's something that not surprising. American Horror Story was crazy, but successful. Successful enough to gain copy cats.

The first copy cat, ABC's '666 Park Avenue'. Here's the scoop:
The thriller, based on the Gabriella Pierce book series of the same name, centers on a young couple (Annable and his not-yet-cast spouse) that accepts an offer to manage one of the most historic apartment buildings in New York City. They unwittingly begin to experience supernatural occurrences, which complicate and endanger the lives of everyone in the building.
I know it not exactly the same, but the idea is similar (couple, haunting things. I hope this is the only one.

In Texas: Gay Judge Refuses to Perform Marriage Ceremonies until All can Marry

*Since the clip keeps changing, I changed the original post

Texas Judge Tonya Parker is making a lot firsts. Not only is she the first Black lesbian to serve as judge in Texas, but she will not perform any marriage ceremonies until there is equality for all.
"I don't perform marriage ceremonies because we are in a state that does not have marriage equality and until it does, I'm not going to partially apply the law to one group of people that doesn't apply to another group of people," Parker said in a video of the Tuesday discussion. "And it's kind of oxymoronic for me to perform ceremonies that can't be performed for me, so I'm not going to do it."

A spokeswoman for the Texas State Commission on Judicial Conduct said the commission had no comment.
This is an interesting stance to take. What do you think?

New Trailer: The Moth Diaries

What's Really Going on with Robert Champion's Case?

Robert was killed over 3 months ago and still no one is held accountable, set for trial or identified. So what's really going on with this case?

Here is some insight:
There are dozens of witnesses and possible suspects to be interviewed in Champion's killing, and most of them live outside the Orlando area. Some may not be cooperating.

Also, the case has garnered international attention for revealing the culture of hazing within the famous band, adding greater pressure to make sure there are no holes in the investigation.

Detectives were unable to interview all the witnesses who know what happened on the bus immediately after Champion died because his death wasn't ruled a homicide until a month after he collapsed. They have been trying to recreate the events by interviewing witnesses, often traveling to Tallahassee where FAMU is located.

"It's not like arriving at the scene of a homicide where there has been a shooting and you interview all the witnesses," said Danielle Tavernier, a spokeswoman for the State Attorney's Office. "They have to go out and coordinate with those people who were there that day."

Half a dozen detectives have interviewed or are in the process of interviewing 30 to 35 witnesses, said Ginette Rodriguez, a spokeswoman for the Orange County Sheriff's Office.

"With this amount of people ... three months really isn't a lot of time with an active caseload that these detectives are carrying," Rodriguez said. "We're going to send this over to the state, and of course, they're going to want to make sure that they're presenting a good case. That is basically all it is."
Robert's family is concerned like many of us about this investigation. The longer it takes, the longer Robert's murderers walk free.

My Rant: Change Atlanta, What the F**k are you Doing?

Yesterday, I posted this clip from an Atlanta news program.
The gay activist group called, Change Atlanta went on the air saying that Brandon White, the gay man who was beaten by three other men, was lying about his story.

The members of this group said that Brandon knew these men and he was beaten because he threatened to out them as gay. So, according to Change Atlanta, this wasn’t a hate crime. This was an act of revenge and Brandon had it coming.

I’m not making this up, y’all. Here’s a piece from the article:
Gary Nichols said he and several other members of the community searched for White's attackers before they were arrested.

Nichols said when they interviewed witnesses and those in the Pittsburgh community who know White and his alleged attackers, he found out new details about White's prior relationship with some of his attackers.

"I would tell the Atlanta community we were duped. We were all duped and it's a shame. It's a bitter shame," Nichols said.

Nichols said the attack was not a hate crime. The motivation was revenge.

"Brandon was agitating these young men about personally exposing them for being DL gay - on the down low possibly gay. The young men responded because they don't want their families to know," Nichols said.

Jackson said he spoke directly with one of the suspects, Dorian Moragne, who also confirmed that they knew White.

"He was very clear about being sure that Brandon White in fact knew the other attackers in question," Jackson said. Jackson and Nichols said the attack was centered around a video that's supposed to be on White's phone. The video of the attack shows one of the men grab White's phone.

"It's a video of somebody performing a sexual act with one or a few of these young men," Nichols said. "That's why the cell phone was a target. They didn't just beat him up because he was gay," Jackson said.
Seriously? This claim is based on rumors. Can I say it again, RUMORS! The funny part about this story is how they talked to one of the attackers, taking his word over Brandon’s. And the big winning belief... The attack was not a hate crime; it was an act of revenge, so it’s okay. Free pizza for everybody!

Sorry, Change Atlanta, but you were wrong to go on TV and state this claim as truth. You were wrong in thinking this ‘act of revenge’ erases the fact that Brandon was beaten like a dog by three men. Change Atlanta, you were wrong to turn you backs on Brandon and somewhat take the side of the attackers.

Change Atlanta, you were just plain wrong!

Who appointed this group as the voice of the LGBT community in Atlanta? They just got started, so Change Atlanta have no true legs to stand on. Their attempt to ‘be seen’ has our community questioning their actions and their purpose.

Seriously, what were you thinking?

I hope Change Atlanta take this misstep as opportunity to really think about what they stand for. Because if they are gay activists, I’d hate to see what anti-gay activists look like.

Gay Activist Group claimed to be duped by Brandon White - WATCH

Are you kidding me? So, I guess this makes it right? Please, this is a bunch of she said, he said mess.

Rod 2.0 reports that the gay activist group are not trying to make Brandon the bad guy
CHANGE ATLANTA activists claim this was not a hate crime—it was revennge. Activists claim that Brandon White knew his attackers and was not telling the truth when he said at a news conference that he did not. "We were all duped and it's a bitter shame," Gary Nichols told CBS Atlanta. "Brandon was basically agitating these young men about personally exposing them for being 'DL' … on the 'down low', possibly gay. He really knows who these guys are and I just feel like he absolutely lied to us."
Regardless of this info, Brandon was still beaten. If he knew something or not, he did not deserved to be attacked. I hope there is more discussion about this issue.

A Lawsuit claims Obama can't be president because he's ‘MULATTO!’

Issues of race is alive and well in the 21st century. Just when we thought it was safe from the birthers, more mess arises. A fool named Gordon Warren Epperly said Obama can't be president because he is bi-racial. And he's so serious about this, he has filed a lawsuit!

The Grio has the silly story:
His lawsuit states:
Barack Hussein Obama II, a.k.a. Barack Hussein Obama, a.ka. Barack H. Obama has the race status of being a "mulatto." Barack Obama's father (Barack Hussein Obama I) was a full blood Negro being born Nyang'oma Kogelo, Nyanza Province, Kenya and raised in the Colony of Kenya. Barack Obama's mother (Stanley Ann Dunham) was a white Caucasian woman being born in Wichita, Kansas on November 29, 1942 and raised in the state of Washington and in the state of Hawaii.
The petition concludes:
As stated above, for an Individual to be a candidate for the office of president of the United States, the candidate must meet the qualifications set forth in the United States Constitution and one of those qualifications is that the Candidate shall be a "natural born citizen" of the United States. As Barack Hussein Obama II is of the "mulatto" race, his status of citizenship is founded upon the Fourteenth Amendment to the United States Constitution. Before the [purported] ratification of the Fourteenth Amendment, the race of "Negro" or "mulatto" had no standing to be citizens of the United States under the United States Constitution.
Child please, this fool is so wrong on the 14th amendment and he's in Alaska. Alaska, where there are plenty of mixed race people.  I hope somebody is watching this Gordon Warren Epperly person. He seems to be completely off his rocker.

The Tyler Clementi Case kicks off

Today, the case of Tyler Clementi begins with a look into Dharun Ravi's character. First Assistant Prosecutor Julia McClure started off with the reasons why Ravi did this:
“These acts were purposeful, intentional and planned,” said First Assistant Prosecutor Julia McClure. “They were meant to expose Tyler (Clementi) and his sexual orientation and encourage others to participate in those invasions of privacy.”

But Ravi’s attorney, Steven Altman, said that wasn’t the case during opening statements to the jury. Ravi’s actions may have been stupid but they were not criminal and he isn’t anti-gay, Altman said.

“You’re going to see he’s not prejudiced, he’s not a bigot and he never did anything that suggested he targeted his roommate for any reasons,” Altman said of Ravi. “He never spoke negatively about his roommate. He thought he was a nice guy.”
Really? Ravi tried to cover up his involvement of Tyler's suicide, by erasing emails, texts and tweets. Then, telling friends what to say to the cops. Ravi faces 15-count indictment with charges including invasion of privacy, bias intimidation and tampering with evidence.

The case is scheduled for at least 4 weeks.

Interesting Quote: Peggy Shorey

In the LGBT community, we must find that sense of shared struggle with a movement that truly includes all of us. Our people are getting killed. Every one of us has a moral obligation to stand up and talk about it, to find a way to take action, to do more. Those of us who are the "LGB" of our community must stand in real solidarity with our transgender sisters and brothers. Allies, you are just as vital.

There is an inseparable link between violence, discrimination, and economic injustice. Working people across all sectors are facing extraordinary levels of unemployment and underemployment. Youth, immigrants, women, people of color, and LGBT people face disproportionate hardship. Black transgender individuals are estimated to have four times the unemployment rate of the general population.

When people are out of work or underemployed -- and can be legally discriminated against in hiring, in most states -- individuals are more likely to find themselves in vulnerable positions, in less safe work environments and less safe neighborhoods, and facing fewer options for living with basic human dignity. When people are out of work, struggling with keeping their homes, making the rent, keeping the lights on, the stress and weight of the world grows.

Murray State University is getting closer to their 1st LGBT Resource Center

Members of Alliance

I never thought this would happen, but my alma mater is moving forward in a great way. The MSU President stated his support of a LGBT Resource Center at the university.

Here's more:
President Randy Dunn announced Wednesday an LGBT Resource Center is a University priority, but acquiring funds to provide it could prove challenging.

Dunn held a reception Wednesday night for Murray State’s Alliance and allies, or friends of the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender community.

This reception was the second of its kind for Alliance and was held at Oakhurst, the president’s home.
President Dunn kept it real with the audience about raising money for the center:
“Right now we’re trying to figure out a way to get the LGBT Center. Right now money is the biggest concern. Challenging times are ahead for the University.”
I hope former alums reach out and help them. Murray State was a struggle, but with the love and support from the LGBT community, I came out and had a successful experience. I also served as co-chair of Alliance, so to see how far they have come does my heart some good.

I'm so proud of the students, staff and faculty that supports the LGBT student community at Murray State.

You guys are awesome!

Did You Know there was an attempt to make a Wonder Woman TV Show in the 90s?

The numerous attempts of a WW series and movie hurts, but this idea hurt worse. There was an idea to bring Wonder Woman back on TV in the 90s.

SuperHeroMultiverse.com has the scoop

Meanwhile, in 1997–1998, a much-publicized plan to return Wonder Woman to live-action for an NBC series was underway. Deborah Joy Levine, who had successfully developed Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman, was brought aboard to oversee the series and write the pilot script. Her version found Prince as a UCLA professor of Greek history.
A nationwide casting call began, with applicants encouraged to show up at certain Warner Bros. stores in December 1997 and January 1998 with photos and acting resumes. Although casting eventually narrowed down to a few Hollywood newcomers, development on the series was shut down before any filming began.
This idea sounds broke. I'm glad it failed. These remixes of WW's origin are pissing me off. Just tell her damn story the way it should be told!

Edgar Wright to reboot ‘The Night Stalker’ with Jonny Depp

Interesting news on the reboot front.

Deadline reports that Disney has tapped Edgar Wright to direct a reboot of the TV series, The Night Stalker, as a movie. And, Disney is looking to Johnny Depp to play the hero, Carl Kolchak.

I'm actually cool with this. They tried to reboot the series a few years ago. While the series was cute, the viewers weren't there. But I believe Edgar will do this project justice, so I approve of this reboot.
