The People have Spoken

Good stuff from the polls:

A new ABC News/Washington Post poll shows support for marriage equality among Americans at an all-time high. According to the poll, 49% support same-sex marriage, while 46% oppose it. This is the first time supporters of same-sex marriage have outnumbered opponents in an ABC/Post poll.

Some key findings:

The poll found pronounced differences by age, with 66% of adults under 30 supporting same-sex marriage, 48% of respondents ages 30–64 supporting it, and only 28% of those over 65 in favor.

Support among self-identified conservatives, who remain least likely to endorse marriage equality, increased threefold over five years, from 10% in 2004 to 30% in the latest poll.

Polarization remains strong according to party affiliation, with conservative Republicans opposing marriage equality most strongly, and liberal Democrats favoring it most strongly.

Among those in the middle, the poll shows that 54% of moderates and 52% of independents favor marriage equality. However, the largest single shift is evident in moderate and conservative Democrats, where 57% support same-sex marriage now compared to 30% in 2006.

Additionally, 53% of respondents said that same-sex marriages performed legally in another state should be recognized in their states.

Just how much Obama-Favored Haterade is Queerty Drinking?

Before I begin, I want to say that I enjoy reading Queerty. It’s entertaining, informative, it’s gay. But recently the folks over there are treating Obama like he gave them herpes or something.

Yesterday, they presented 2 articles on how Obama don’t really give a crap about us. One article focused on how late he was on the Hate Crimes bill and the other touches on his lack of support for the gay community.

Here's some examples
  • He's said he's too busy with the economy to get around to marriage equality. He's let his secretary of defense tell the world that Don't Ask Don't Tell might get repealed, which is the same as saying it might not. For all his talk about health care, he's done nothing to let gay people share benefits with their same-sex partners. There are no protections in place to keep us from getting fired from our jobs for being gay, even though we're losing paychecks like every other American. Immigrants are being deported because they cannot legally marry their same-sex partners.
  • Wow! Thank you, Mr. President! But, uh, aren't you weighing in on this a little bit late? Why has it taken you until the day before Congress will go to a vote to make a statement about the Local Law Enforcement Hate Crimes Prevention Act? And your support for it? And that you want Congress to pass it? Sure, Obama has had a busy first 100 days, but he's also got a giant team of gophers at his disposal, ready and willing to deliver statements — however meaningful — of support or disgust. And yet this is the first time since Obama was elected that he's made any (public) effort to get on Congress' back to get this bill passed. (We asked the White House's director of specialty media Shin Inouye to confirm this was the first time Obama specifically addressed the matter. Inouye tells Queerty "I'd have to check on specifics." We'll let you know what we hear.)

These articles are somewhat disingenuous and similar to how a jealous ex would sound towards the new bf. Seriously, the writer acts as if our issues outweigh every Gott-Damn-Thing that’s happening in our country!

Now, I would completely understand if the country was on track and nothing was going on. However, that’s not the case. We are hanging by our Lee press-on nails, hoping that we can avoid another economic fallout or the crazy ass North Korea’s test rockets. Then we have the war and looming doom that it creates. But somewhere down the line, somebody in Queerty has this Magneto-ish belief that we must come first.

He just got into the White House! He just got the ball rolling on the economy! Hell, what good are any of our liberties if our country is on life support! Until these major issues are in a safe zone, we will just have to wait. We have time, we ain’t going anywhere. It’s only been 4 frakking months! Just 4! Good things are happening to the gay community and our time is coming.

Maybe I'm too optimistic or way off, but I'm also realistic. There are deals and people to win over in order to pass bills and overturn stuff. There is a game to be played in politics and some things outweigh others. Is it fair? No, but at least we have someone who's playing in our best interest. I hope the writer(s) at Queerty understands that.

This is not the time to act like entitled arrogant kids. We need to give Obama more time before we draw up some busted analysis. After 4 years, if we have not made any progress then we need to develop a plan. I realize that folks are angry, but to blindly run amok with this Obama-don't- care really does nothing for anyone.

American Family Association's Biggest scam of the Week

Earlier at the Hate Crimes hearing, the cultural terrorist group, American Family Association, tried to push this silly point on why Hate Crimes Prevention Act (HR 1913) should not be passed

Please read this mess and laugh out loud:
The Hate Crime law, HR-1913, will make 30 sexual orientations federally-protected. The American Psychiatric Association (APA) has published 30 such sexual orientations that, because of Congress's refusal to define "sexual orientation," will be protected under this legislation. These 30 orientations are listed in the APA's Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM-IV), which is used by physicians, psychologists, social workers, nurses, and psychiatrists throughout the U.S. It is considered the dictionary of mental disorders. Those 30 sexual orientations include behaviors that are felonies or misdemeanors in most states.

Among those sexual orientations being protected by HR-1913 are these:

Apotemnophilia - sexual arousal associated with the stump(s) of an Amputee
Asphyxophilia - sexual gratification derived from activities that involve oxygen deprivation through hanging, strangulation, or other means
Autogynephilia - the sexual arousal of a man by his own perception of himself as a woman or dressed as a woman
Bisexual - the capacity to feel erotic attraction toward, or to engage in sexual interaction with, both males and females
Coprophilia - sexual arousal associated with feces
Exhibitionism - the act of exposing one’s genitals to an unwilling observer to obtain sexual gratification
Fetishism/Sexual Fetishism - obtaining sexual excitement primarily or exclusively from an inanimate object or a particular part of the body
Frotteurism - approaching an unknown woman from the rear and pressing or rubbing the penis against her buttocks
Heterosexuality - the universal norm of sexuality with those of the opposite sex
Homosexual/Gay/Lesbian - people who form sexual relationships primarily or exclusively with members of their own gender
Gender Identity Disorder - a strong and persistent cross-gender identification, which is the desire to be, or the insistence that one is, or the other sex, "along with" persistent discomfort about one’s assigned sex or a sense of the inappropriateness in the gender role of that sex
Gerontosexuality - distinct preference for sexual relationships primarily or exclusively with an elderly partner
Incest - sex with a sibling or parent
Kleptophilia - obtaining sexual excitement from stealing
Klismaphilia - erotic pleasure derived from enemas
Necrophilia - sexual arousal and/or activity with a corpse
Partialism - A fetish in which a person is sexually attracted to a specific body part exclusive of the person
Pedophilia - Sexual activity with a prepubescent child (generally age 13 years or younger). The individual with pedophilia must be age 16 years or older and at least 5 years older than the child. For individuals in late adolescence with pedophilia, no precise age difference is specified, and clinical judgment must be used; both the sexual maturity of the child and the age difference must be taken into account; the adult may be sexually attracted to opposite sex, same sex, or prefer either
Prostitution - the act or practice of offering sexual stimulation or intercourse for money
Sexual Masochism - obtaining sexual gratification by being subjected to pain or humiliation
Sexual Sadism - the intentional infliction of pain or humiliation on another person in order to achieve sexual excitement
Telephone Scatalogia - sexual arousal associated with making or receiving obscene phone calls
Toucherism - characterized by a strong desire to touch the breast or genitals of an unknown woman without her consent; often occurs in conjunction with other paraphilia
Transgenderism - an umbrella term referring to and/or covering transvestitism, drag queen/king, and transsexualism
Transsexual - a person whose gender identity is different from his or her anatomical gender
Transvestite - a person who is sexually stimulated or gratified by wearing the clothes of the other gender
Transvestic Fetishism - intense sexually arousing fantasies, sexual urges, or behaviors involving cross-dressing
Urophilia - sexual arousal associated with urine
Voyeurism - obtaining sexual arousal by observing people without their consent when they are undressed or engaged in sexual activity
Zoophilia/Bestiality - engaging in sexual activity with animals

To protect a "sexual orientation" under H.R. 1913 - while leaving that term undefined -- is to protect this whole range of bizarre sexual behaviors. It is to normalize by federal law what are still considered to be mental disorders (paraphilias) by the American Psychiatric Association.

It's sad to know that folks are this dumb and evil. Oh, the bill passed in the House, btw.

Thanks to Joe.My.God for posting the info.

Miss California no longer...She is Lady NOM!

Carrie! I would have thought you would sit down, gather yourself and get come back smarter and wiser, but no, you are sealing the deal with foolishness!

In Politico, Ben Smith reports:

Miss California, Carrie Prejean, who offered memorable opposition (above) to same-sex marriage and a young, attractive new face for the movement against it, will appear tomorrow at a press conference hosted by the National Organization for Marriage at the National Press Club, according to a press release from the group.

She'll be launching a new ad, the second in what the group says is a $1.5 million campaign.

The ad, the release says, will address:

What happens when a young California beauty pageant contestant is asked, "Do you support same-sex marriage?" She is attacked viciously for having the courage to speak up for her truth and her values. But Carrie's courage inspired a whole nation and a whole generation of young people because she chose to risk the Miss USA crown rather than be silent about her deepest moral values. "No Offense" calls gay marriage advocates to account for their unwillingness to debate the real issue: Gay marriage has consequences.

Why? Why? Does Carrie understand that her future is ruined? This will shut doors and really bring the Hateration.

Is she that hard up for attention? And how much are they paying her to sell her soul?

Good Night, Chuck

This release was an accident, but I think the cancellation was a mercy killing. The show was almost too slick for geeks and too smart for the average viewer.

Maybe if Joss or J.J. wrote the show, it would at least get a movie out of the deal.

How Dumbass Uneducated Heterosexuals cause me to Roll my Eyes

Iowa...just when I thought it was safe...

So there an editorial in the Des Moines Register about a family losing their son to AIDS. But this story blames the powers of gayness as the reason why this man died. Then they goes as far to say that we are a cult and we cause pain to families (you got to love our God-like powers)

Here's a piece of the article:

For years, my wife and I have watched the media and homosexual activists work together to redefine family and marriage in our society. The consistent message has been that homosexual "marriage" will hurt no one, and that those of us who support marriage only between one man and one woman will not be impacted. Nothing could be further from the truth.

Our hearts go out to people caught up in homosexuality. The destruction and pain that homosexuality leaves in its wake is deep and impacts so many more than just the individuals caught up in the activity. We now know several other couples who are struggling with a son who chose to engage in homosexuality. We know the pain they endure, and understand when they reach out for help. One person's homosexuality causes stress and strain on every friend and relative who truly cares about them.

For the Iowa Supreme Court to sanction homosexual "marriage" is to encourage and underwrite the negative results that naturally come from the homosexual "lifestyle." Aside from the physical destruction inflicted on those who practice homosexuality and the incredible stress homosexuals cause their extended families, society often pays a hefty price as well. Randy lost his job when he was no longer strong enough to work. With the loss of that job, he lost his ability to insure himself. As a result, you the taxpayer paid for more than $250,000 in medical bills for this one AIDS patient.

And for kicks, here's a video

Interesting Quote: Obama

"This week, the House of Representatives is expected to consider H.R. 1913, the Local Law Enforcement Hate Crimes Prevention Act of 2009. I urge members on both sides of the aisle to act on this important civil rights issue by passing this legislation to protect all of our citizens from violent acts of intolerance – legislation that will enhance civil rights protections, while also protecting our freedom of speech and association. I also urge the Senate to work with my Administration to finalize this bill and to take swift action."

Basically, he said, pass the damn bill.

Are y'all Ready for an Armageddon battle for Marriage?

Religious Leaders really have nothing to do, y'all.

Bishop Harry Jackson of Hope Christian Church in Bowie is rallying up foolishness to protest gay marriage recognition in D.C. In fact he, "will launch the Armageddon of the marriage battle in this country."

Great Hera!

This fool thinks 1,000 church members and 100 pastors will be ready and willing to strike down our evil marriage recognition. And the cute part is this mess here...Harry believes this issue is a slap in the face to black people!

"There's a sense that the latte-drinking crowd is doing an end run around the regular people. It's a race and a class struggle on this. If 51 percent of the people in D.C. are African American and you have a unanimous vote by the city council on this, somebody's not listening to the people."

Okay, Harry...Are you that stupid? I guess so. This has nothing to do with race or class. Well, it does because there are gay black folks and poor gay folks. But how is this an insult to Black people? I'm afraid that Harry is living in the 1800s. Black people in D.C. are not caught up about gay people. If he really knew the D.C. I know, he would realized that the Black gay population there is one of our largest gay communities of color.

This is your battle, Harry. Don't make it a Black thing.

Gov. Paterson ain't feeling the Religious Leaders

Gov. Paterson is a bit tired of the religious leaders in New York running their mouths.

At the a gay marriage rally in Albany, Gov. Paterson said:

"You see, the fact is that for years these same individuals - many of them, not all of them, but many of them - who pronounced religious doctrine did not exercise it when young gay and lesbian students were being chastised for expressing their point of view. Where were these leaders of faith when college students of gay and lesbian orientation were beaten and often brutalized for expressing their feelings for each other? …

All I’m saying is: Why didn’t they speak about that at the time when it was the other way around? See what really makes a democracy work is when you speak for others rights even when you disagree with them. I’m saying most of the religious leaders that I hear speaking out now did not do it at the time. Had they done so I think they would have better moral standing to speak at this moment on this legislation even though I disagree with them."

And he's right...Where are they when stuff is really going on? When folks need real guidance are they available? And why do we only hear from them when gay marriage pops up? Do they even know what their role is?

I think it's time to deal with their foolishness by taxing the Hell out of them and their churches. They need to be put in their place. This is a way to get it started.

The Worst Fantasy/Sci-Fi TV Shows

We have seen plenty of mess on the tube for years. Some had a decent run and some should have ran off the cliff. Either way, they were there and we suffered for it.

So here are my list of the The Worst Fantasy/Sci-Fi TV Shows

Out of This World

This was about a kid (Evie) being born from a Alien daddy and Earth Mom. Evie has superpowers and always misused them. It was bad acting and the special effects...gag.

Point Pleasant

A sorry excuse for a devil-born child. The show sucked, they had rehashed "90201" characters and it was boring. Satan's kids should be exciting not silly.

Charmed

I really don't know why this show last for 8 years. Oh I do, Aaron Spelling. His money would keep a pig eating its own crap on the air. This show disrespected the whole witch appeal. Buffy did it better; hell, Bewitched did it better.

Passions

Embarrassment to the genre and the soap opera world.

Dante's Cove and The Lair

Stupid...nuff said

Interesting Quote: Leonard Nimoy

Let me take the opportunity to say this. Everybody at this table [the cast] are very, very talented and intelligent people. They found their own way to bring that talent and intelligence to this movie, and I think it shows. If Chris Pine could do anything other than go direct to Starfleet after Bruce Greenwood told him what his life should be about, I would be shocked. I just had to do what Bruce Greenwood told me to.

When Karl Urban introduced himself as Leonard McCoy and shook hands with Chris Pine, I burst into tears. That performance of his is so moving, so touching and so powerful as Doctor McCoy, that I think D. Kelley [DeForest] would be smiling, and maybe in tears as well. And, these two [Zachary, Zoe] I think are wonderful together. It's such a passionate and compassionate performance by Zoe that I was just so pleased to be a part of this movie, with all of you good people.

Yes, there are Gay Gang Members

Interesting news and borderline "The Wire" type drama

A member of the Latin Kings gang who killed his lover was convicted Friday of first-degree murder, according to the Eagle-Tribune newspaper in North Andover, Mass.

After seven hours of deliberation, the jury found Christian "King Joker" Almonte, 26, guilty of murder last week for killing Willie Escobar, 41, out of jealousy -- Escobar was reportedly seeing other men -- and to cover up their relationship.

Escobar and Almonte had a secret relationship for several years, though it was on hold while Almonte served four years in prison.

Almonte stabbed his boyfriend 20 times in the victim's apartment with a kitchen knife in February 2008. Escobar had stab wounds to his heart, stomach, chest, and back, according to the North Andover Citizen.

Almonte will serve a life sentence in prison without the possibility of parole. Because Almonte stole Escobar's Toyota Camry and then gave it to a friend after the murder took place, he faces an additional 12- to 15-year sentence for motor-vehicle theft, to run concurrently with his life sentence. He also faces charges of armed robbery, armed carjacking, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, and armed assault to rob, after allegedly taking part in a violent carjacking the day before Escobar was murdered.

Wow...That's all I can say.

When are you Too Old to Hook-Up?

A friend of mind just told me that he is too old to be hooking-up with guys. He just turn 30 and now he's in the "find a husband" mode.

I asked him, "Why do you think you're too old?"

He believes that no good man would want a barfly over the age of 30. A good man wants another good man. Now, mind you that my friend and I are from the South, so we have weird and ancient views of morals and virtue.

I told him that a good man with accept everything about you if he likes you. But my friend disagrees with me; he still thinks if your whoring it out after 30, you're damaged.

I can't really explain his logic, plenty of single men over 30 have active sex lives and they are not damaged. I just don't get why he's holding on to this foolishness. If you like a guy and mood is right, there's nothing wrong with a little 'pudding tasting'. That's 2 grown men making a decision that is usually good for the both of them (sometimes).

The fact that you are considered "damaged" is crazy. I told my friend that he should lighten up. He should have his standards, but have a little fun too.

Rick Perry Ain't Ready

After getting up on his pedestal and talking about seceding the US, Gov. Perry realizes the reality.
Gov. Rick Perry today in a precautionary measure requested the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) provide 37,430 courses of antiviral medications from the Strategic National Stockpile to Texas to prevent the spread of swine flu. [...]

"As a precautionary measure, I have requested that medication be on hand in Texas to help curb the spread of swine flu by helping those with both confirmed and suspected cases of this swine flu virus, as well as healthcare providers who may have come in contact with these patients," said Gov. Rick Perry. "We will continue to work with our local, state and federal health officials to ensure public safety is protected."

Uh Huh, see Texas...All talk and no walk. He needs the government, hell, Texas needs the government. Without any assistance, Texas would be a wasteland. I knew Gov. Perry was just huffing and puffing.

So folks, take heed...Texas won't Secede.

Iowa, God don't have Time for This

Guess what? Gay marriage is on in Iowa today. I'm still a little shocked that Iowa is the 3rd state that allows us to have a picket fence.

Yet, to some folks are thinking it's the beginning of Satan's reign.

Gloria Villaneuva of Bonaparte organized the statewide prayer service to express her opposition to the Iowa supreme court ruling that legalized same-sex marriage earlier this month. Prayer participants were urged to report to their local county courthouse at 7:45 a.m. and join vigils like this one captured by the Ottumwa Courier.

They say prayer works, however I think I this one prayer that will go unanswered (sorry, to those who believe)

The Swine Flu: Is this our Captain Tripps?

This Pig flu thing is taking hold of world right now!

The world's governments raced to avoid both a pandemic and global hysteria Sunday as more possible swine flu cases surfaced from Canada to New Zealand and the United States declared a public health emergency. "It's not a time to panic," the White House said.

Late Sunday, Mexico's health secretary raised the number of suspected deaths in that country to 103, and the number of cases to more than 1,600. Mexico, the outbreak's epicenter, canceled some church services and closed markets, restaurants and movie theaters. A televised variety show filled its seats with cardboard cutouts. Few people ventured onto the streets, and some wore face masks.

Canada confirmed cases in six people, including some students who _ like some New York City spring-breakers _ got mildly ill in Mexico. Countries across Asia promised to quarantine feverish travelers returning from flu-affected areas.
The U.S. declared the health emergency so it could ship roughly 12 million doses of flu-fighting medications from a federal stockpile to states in case they eventually need them _ although, with 20 confirmed cases of people recovering easily, they don't appear to for now.

Make no mistake: There is not a global pandemic _ at least not yet. It's not clear how many people truly have this particular strain, or why all countries but Mexico are seeing mild disease. Nor is it clear if the new virus spreads easily, one milestone that distinguishes a bad flu from a global crisis. But waiting to take protective steps until after a pandemic is declared would be too late.

Well I hope they figure something out soon. The last thing I want to deal with is this flu and worrying if "Mother Abagail" will call on me.

We almost had a Kill Bill moment on the Today Show

Kathie Lee is going to get smacked one day. And after this, I'm surprised she didn't

That's Classic TV right there

Miss California is the New Sarah Palin

I knew it, I even said it. Carrie Prejean has not only become a martyr (thanks Perez), but now she's the GOP queen.

Within a week she has risen to new heights and her future may last longer than 15 minutes.

Politico talks about her new found power:

The reaction among conservatives, who embraced Prejean as a martyr for the cause, was equally strong. An Alabama state legislator introduced a House resolution praising her for speaking out against gay marriage. In a press release, Family Research Council President Tony Perkins stated his “admiration and support” for her and lauded “her fortitude in the face of continued baseless personal attacks.”

“There’s a lot of people cheering you tonight that you stood on your principles, that you put the principles above winning,” Fox News talk show host Sean Hannity told Prejean when she appeared on his television program. “Not enough people do that. And I admire you a lot for it.”

In the right-wing blogosphere, where the consensus was that her opposition to gay marriage cost her the Miss USA title, conservatives depicted Prejean as a role model worth emulating.

“Miss California Carrie Prejean’s act of courage — in the face of tremendous pressure to spout the liberal line — serves as a fine example for young and more seasoned conservative politicians,” Mark Impomeni wrote on the popular RedState blog. “First be true to your beliefs, and let the chips fall where they may. When they do, they should know that conservatives of like mind across the country will stand up for them.”

“I would like to nominate Miss California as the new face of the marriage movement. Much better than mine!” National Organization for Marriage President Maggie Gallagher wrote on National Review’s The Corner.

Prejean has taken full advantage of her newfound stardom, becoming an almost hourly fixture on cable news — and Donald Trump, the owner of the Miss USA contest, has also fuel the story by throwing his weight behind it in an effort to promote the pageant and himself. Trump is scheduled to appear on Fox News’s “O’Reilly Factor” Thursday night to discuss the controversy.

Prejean is slated for another television appearance Thursday night when she attends the Gospel Music Association's Dove Awards and introduces one of the performers at the award show.

She’s also now prominently featured on the website of San Diego Christian College — the school she attended before taking the semester off to prepare for the pageant. The college was founded in 1970 by conservative pastor Tim LaHaye, author of the popular Christian book series “Left Behind.”

We can laugh at this and think Prejean's fame is hogwash. But I'm not so sure she can tossed aside so easily. Her looks and her beliefs will give her power among the GOP and if we are not careful, Prejean could be the trojan horse we didn't see coming.

Hell, this woman could be the GOP She-ra.

Bea Arthur has Died

I just learned about this from my friend, Joy

Beatrice Arthur
, the tall, deep-voiced actress whose razor-sharp delivery of comedy lines made her a TV star in the hit shows "Maude" and "The Golden Girls" and who won a Tony Award for the musical "Mame," died Saturday. She was 86.

Arthur died peacefully at her Los Angeles home with her family at her side, family spokesman Dan Watt said. She had cancer, Watt said, declining to give further details.

"She was a brilliant and witty woman," said Watt, who was Arthur's personal assistant for six years. "Bea will always have a special place in my heart."

She will be missed.

Randomness of the past week

I'm planning the RA banquet and it's a headache. There's things about this event that has not been fun at all. I'm learning that folks don't adhere to directions, deadlines and emails. Grown folks whine like kids and one misstep will be the guilt trip of the month. So I will pass that pleasure to someone else for next year.

A old friend of mind died recently and it made my old crew and I think about our lives. We have been very fortunate and I don't think we realize that enough. So I need to make time to appreciate the simple things in life.

We need good gay leaders. We need them out in front, speaking and standing strong for us. Having Perez Hilton as our mouthpiece...hurts.

I'm steps away from taking my 1st screenwriting class, which is exciting, but the $500 deposit is killing me. That money came from my next Louis Vuitton purchase fund! But this is for my future, I just need to remind myself of that.

I think L.A. is a sham. This week, I had a hipster tell me he's original. However, he's wearing the tight jeans, Zak Efron hair and that damn scarf. I told him that originality died after 1989 and he just looks like everybody else. He was shocked, especially when he saw 4 other guys in a similar outfit.

This week I have found myself thinking that Levi Johnston, Stephen Colbert, Danny McBride and Chuck Todd are very cute guys.

And we finally bought tickets to the East Coast for our summer trip...NYC here I come!

I am using my precog powers and telling y'all that the Footloose remake will fail.
Maybe not so deep in the fail bend, but it will fail and here's why:

Though Chace Crawford is rumored to be in the final stages of negotiations to star in the remake of the 1984 classic Footloose, the resident Gossip Girl hottie could be running into scheduling troubles with the hit TV show.

According to E! Online, there's a big overlap between when he'd have to shoot Footloose and the next season of Gossip Girl. Producers of the show have been unable to successfully accommodate the movie’s shooting schedule.

If they were smart, they would ditch this project. Plus Chace is not a box office draw...FAIL

Charlie Hunnam confirmed that he has indeed screen-tested for the role of the god of thunder. He has only shot one screen test so far, and when asked if it involved running around with a helmet and a hammer, he replied with a smile, "Something like that."

Hunnam didn't know what the status of the casting was but said that his people have been talking to Marvel. He believes that since Marvel pushed the start date of Thor back a few months the studio is taking its time to make the best decision for the film.

What do y'all think?

Interesting Quote: Gov. David Paterson

“I’m back on Planet Albany, where there is no gravity, where light waves bend right around the Capitol. We have eschewed the opportunity for what the good government groups I thought should be fighting for, open debate on issues in our houses."

"I actually believe that you don’t have to have a majority vote in an institution for there to be a discussion. Now on this particular bill, there a lot of other issues related to it, Senator Smith knows the inertia of the Senate better than anyone else. He got the bottle bill passed. I’ll stick with his final judgment."

Paterson holding off on Gay marriage, passing the issue off to Gov. Smith to handle now.

Shep Smith...Watch your Tongue!

Fox News mouthpiece, Shep Smith loves America so much that...well just watch

Sorry Shep, but we are America and we did torture.

Condi Approved Torture

Not you too, Condi!

Apparently, Miss Rice played a bigger role in the Torturing drama.

Then-national security adviser Condoleezza Rice verbally OK'd the CIA's request to subject alleged al-Qaida terrorist Abu Zubaydah to waterboarding in July 2002, a decision memorialized a few days later in a secret memo that the Obama administration declassified last week.

Rice's role was detailed in a narrative released Wednesday by the Senate Intelligence Committee. It provides the most detailed timeline yet for how the CIA's harsh interrogation program was conceived and approved at the highest levels in the Bush White House.

The new timeline shows that Rice played a greater role than she admitted last fall in written testimony to the Senate Armed Services Committee.

Cheney is also involved, which is nothing new, but Condi! Why?

Hopefully, she will address this issue soon. I always had faith in her.

Freddy Krueger has a New Nancy to Terrorize

Meet Rooney Mara...she is the new Nancy for the updated Nightmare on Elm Street.

Bloody Disgusting confirmed the news:
Bloody-Disgusting learned today that Rooney Mara (Urban Legends: Bloody Mary) is in final negotiations to star as the "average" teen protagonist in Warner Bros. Pictures, New Line Cinema and Platinum Dunes' remake of A Nightmare on Elm Street, which begins lensing in Chicago early next month.

She will join the previously announced Jackie Earle Haley (Kreddy Krueger), Kyle Gallner (Quentin) and Thomas Dekker (Jesse) in the film being helmed by music video director Samuel Bayer.

She looks normal and not sexed-up. Almost like the original and classic, Heather Langenkamp (who I got to meet in Tempe 2 years ago).

So far, I like the new Freddy and Nancy.

Now Angie can Rest

Allen Andrade was convicted of first-degree murder and a bias-motivated crime and sentenced to life in prison for killing Angie Zapata.

If you don't know the story, here it is.

Allen and Angie met online last summer where they spent nearly three days together at his apartment. After finding out that she was a transgendered woman, Allen attacked her and killed her.

Now, the verdict was given and justice was served.

It the first time in the nation that a state hate crime statute was used to prosecute a transgender person's murder, the advocacy group Gay Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation said.

Seated in the front row of the courtroom, the family of Justin "Angie" Zapata broke out in tears as the verdicts were read.

The jury deliberated for just under two hours before returning the verdict shortly after 3 p.m.

Jurors will return to court later this afternoon to consider Andrade's sentence. He faces life in prison without parole.

"This is a landmark decision," said Mindy Barton, the legal director of the GLBT Community Center of Colorado. Barton attended the trial daily.

"Hearing 'guilty on first-degree murder' and 'guilty of bias-motivated crime' was a hugely emotional experience for all the family, friends and the supporters of Angie," Barton added.

"She will not be forgotten."

Somebody ELSE please get up on the screen and Speak for Us!

Just watch

Having him as our "spokesperson" is like having Gaius Baltar speak on what's best for the 12 Colonies.

Or Lursa and B'Etor speaking about peace to the Federation.

Sci-Fi Writer, Orson Scott Card joins NOM

It's sad when one of our Sci-Fi folks is living in a parallel world, like hate-a-gay-world.

Okay bad joke, but I'm just talking about Orson Scott Card's latest stab in the LGBT geeks' hearts.

Orson is a well known science fiction author. His works includes Ender's Game, Speaker for the Dead and Ultimate Iron Man. And then there is his other passions...a Mormon Times columnist and a huge hater of us. In fact he said that if Prop 8 passed, the goverment should be overthrown.

He said:
How long before married people answer the dictators thus: Regardless of law, marriage has only one definition, and any government that attempts to change it is my mortal enemy. I will act to destroy that government and bring it down, so it can be replaced with a government that will respect and support marriage, and help me raise my children in a society where they will expect to marry in their turn.

Interesting...Crazy...

So fast forward a bit to now, where we have been entertained by Maggie Gallagher's comedy troupe, the National Organization for Marriage. Just when I thought they were through, Orson joins them. Why, I don't know.

However, he talks about why we want marriage...

The dark secret of homosexual society — the one that dares not speak its name — is how many homosexuals first entered into that world through a disturbing seduction or rape or molestation or abuse, and how many of them yearn to get out of the homosexual community and live normally.

It’s that desire for normality, that discontent with perpetual adolescent sexuality, that is at least partly behind this hunger for homosexual “marriage.”

Sorry, Orson. I wasn't molested, abuse or raped, and the same for other LGBT folks. So that theory is busted. But I am curious to see how he might mix his Sci-Fi stuff into NOM's silly agenda.

Freddie Mac CFO Dead

Interesting news

HuffPo reports:

David Kellermann, the acting chief financial officer of money-losing mortgage giant Freddie Mac was found dead at his home Wednesday morning in what police said was an apparent suicide.

The Fairfax County police responded to a 911-call at 4:48 a.m. at the suburban Virginia home Kellermann shared with his wife. The police would not release the cause of death or say if a suicide note was found.

Kellermann worked for Freddie Mac for the past 16 years and was named acting chief financial officer last September when the government seized control of the company to keep it from failing. Freddie Mac lost more than $50 billion last year, and the government has pumped in $45 billion to keep the company afloat.

Kellermann's death is the latest in a string of blows to Freddie Mac, which owns or guarantees about 13 million mortgages and us the No. 2 mortgage finance company after sibling Fannie Mae. The company has been criticized for financing risky mortgage loans that fueled the real estate bubble, and its first government appointed CEO, David Moffett, resigned last month after six months on the job.

News of Kellermann's death came as a shock to employees of the McLean, Va.-based company, with those who knew Kellermann tearing up on Wednesday morning and a quiet mood prevailing.

Early Wednesday, Sharon McHale, a Freddie Mac spokeswoman, said senior executives at the company heard the news on local radio before going to work. "It's just so awful," she said.

Storm...my favorite X-Men character has been through it over the years. But through each issue, she remains strong.

UXM 188- Storm lost her powers, dealt with the shock of that and fell in love with Forge.

UXM 198- She came to terms with her fate and rediscovered her purpose.

Hi, I'm Emma Frost

Miss California takes the High Road against Perez

Yes Miss Cali-Cal expressed her views and that's her right to do so. But now this is going to a different level. Perez Hilton is upset, called her names, and made sure the media knows about it.

See here

I understand his anger, but I think he's going too far. It's her opinion and I don't think it was the worst answer ever. We all know people have opposing views, Carrie has hers and Perez has his. But let's leave it at that. It just seems that he's trying to milk this moment. And when did he become our strong voice? If he ain't outing folks (Johnathan Knight, Neil Patrick Harris & Lance Bass)for fun, he's belittling folks for profit. So, it's hard to take Perez seriously. In fact, his actions may make Carrie the martyr.

So to be real, Perez, sit this one out.
