Yesterday during the Hate Crime hearings, Rep. Barbara Lee (D-Cali) gave a great speech about how these crimes effect gay men of color.

- I'm very laid back and easy going. I like to meet people, read, talk about politics, culture and life. I am a huge comic book fan (X-Men family and Wonder Woman) I also want to say that I am a proud black gay man...no 'down low' drama here

Work it Rep. Lee. I feel hopeful when I see people like that in positions of influence and power.
So that's what maturity looks in Congress. I hope in the future queer advocacy groups look to her and others as a means of building bridges.
