This makes me smile to see this billboard in LA
Men of color need to feel loved and respected. Too many times, we are told that we're destroying the Black family or we're sinful.
We are loving, caring men who just want to live in this world. We're not animals or predators, so stop seeing us this way.
We're human.

CDC Study: Black gay men in the United States have a 50% chance of getting HIV
A new study from the Centers For Disease Control got me pretty sad today. According to the results, Black gay men in the United States have a 50% chance of getting HIV. Then, there's this... all men who have sex with men face a 79-times higher risk of contracting HIV than do heterosexual men.
The CDC study was just released and it's chock full of info that will leave you with a heavy heart. While the numbers are down overall, gay men of color are still quite high. Sadly, this is the norm. It feels like we stay at high risk. I know there are so many programs and outreach events to educate our communities of color. Still, it seems like we continue to lose.
I personally hate to see any study that show us at high risk. I want to believe these numbers are wrong, but... I guess the numbers don't lie. We have to better, folks.
Protect yourself, protect yourself, protect yourself!
You have to do this in order to stay alive and healthy. Yes, we have stronger medications and prEP, but you always have to protect yourself at all cost. No dick is worth your life, guys. Please love yourself, respect your partner/trick/fu*kbuddy enough to be safe.
These number have to drop, before it's too late. Skip that, It IS too late. We have to stop being reckless! Please... I can't say this enough, protect yourself.

When White Gay Men say they aren't Into Black Guys - Nelson's Story
This has happened to me a few times.
Gay White men have said that they aren't into Black guys, but claim it isn't racist. Proof, it is! However, that's another post for another time. For now, get into this clip from I'm From Driftwood featuring Nelson

HIV in the United States: At A Glance
Not so good news, folks!
- More than 1.2 million people in the United States are living with HIV infection, and almost 1 in 7 (14%) are unaware of their infection.
- Gay, bisexual, and other men who have sex with men (MSMa), particularly young black/African American MSM, are most seriously affected by HIV.
- By race, blacks/African Americans face the most severe burden of HIV.
Not good at all.

"I Don't Like Mens, No More" Man is suing Twitter, Outed for Insurance Fraud
Morning Mess
So Andrew Caldwell or Marquis Jones didn't take his "I Am Delivered" viral video response well at all. He has filed a $50 million lawsuit against Twitter because of the backlash he received.
He claims that Twitter knowingly and willingly allowed their users to harass and bully him. Because of this backlash, Andrew says that he had a nervous breakdown and quit his job.
The NewsNerd reports:
“The nasty things they say about me online are nothing but bullying plain and simple,” Jones stated. “I cannot believe they allow anyone to post these vial things online. No one knows my story or what I have gone through. They talked about my voice, my appearance, and even tried to deny my deliverance. They can say what they want, but I am redeemed and my bowtie is cute. My pride and self-worth have been shattered into a million pieces, and each one of those pieces deserve $50.”
In the video, which has now gone viral, Smith is seen giving a testimony about being healed of homosexuality. Marquis Jones revealed the video was filmed at a recent C.O.G.I.C. (Church of God In Christ) Holy Convocation Convention. The 32-year-old says he was indeed cured and is currently engaged to be married.
“I look forward to a new life with my soon-to-be-wife. We are planning to have 5 or 6 children,” stated Jones.I'm confused with this report. In the video, he said he was 21, but here, he's 32. And he also claimed to be in college, trying to be a doctor. Either this report is off, or this Andrew/Marquis is a con artist.

Interesting Quote: Alvin McEwen
It's all part and parcel of being an LGBT person of color. Generally in both the LGBT and African-American communities, LGBT people of color tend to always find ourselves in the background while someone else is doing the talking and planning. Apparently we are only good enough as faces but without voices or opinions regarding strategies or leadership. And our issues are not considered important, but examples of "identity politics" gone too far.
It is slowly (and I mean very slowly) changing in the LGBT community, but it is in the black community where LGBT people of color run up against a massive brick wall. There is a pattern of erasure which strips our presence from the majority of black history. And this pattern of erasure bleeds into day-to-day treatment and interactions. Personal biases and prejudices prevent us from being considered as genuine members of the black community and many heterosexual African-Americans conveniently ignore issues and concerns indigenous to us as LGBT people.
True Talk from my pal, Alvin.

Sylvia Thompson: Michael Sam is the latest Black Pawn of the Homosexual Movement
Lord... I saw this on Joe.My.God and I had to share this with y'all.
This Black conservative writer, Sylvia Thompson is a blogger for RenewAmerica. The blog is full of foolishness, but what do you expect? It's for Tea Baggers.
Anywho, this woman claims that Michael Sam is a Black pawn of the evil homosexual agenda. Funny, considering she's a Black pawn of the Mad Right Wing freaks. Here is a piece of her mess:
I was irritatingly reminded, once again, of just how degenerate our nation has become. I read recently that a football player for the Miami Dolphins, Don Jones, was fined and castigated for voicing his revulsion at the sight of a fellow teammate, Michael Sam, in a lustful display of homosexual eroticism. Which, by the way, has nothing to do with "love." Michael Sam is the latest black pawn of the homosexual movement.Sylvia... I need for you to have several seats in an abandoned building. There is no plot or a sinister plan, this is real life. Perhaps it's time for you and your minions wake the f**k up and see the writing on the wall. Jim Crow ain't got nothing to do with this. Michael Sam is gay and that's it.
As a black person, I can relate to a factor that I think has bearing, at least in part, on Mr. Jones' revulsion. Not only was this erotic display sinfully sick, but it also involved another black male athlete. I recall the earlier "coming out" of a basketball player who was also black. The predominantly white Left was as ecstatic then as it is now (so was Barack Obama). It seems obvious to me, and maybe to Mr. Jones as well, that the Left's championing of non-male black men is part of its ongoing plan to destroy black America, in this case, by emasculating its men.
The Left's behavior these days is reminiscent of that of civil officials in the American South under the Jim Crow legal system. Black men were distinct targets of their racism during that time of intense racial strife in our country's history. Lynching and castration of black males seemed a clear indication of fear of black masculinity. Now that the legal system no longer tolerates lynching and castration, black men are emasculated psychologically. No, the Left does not make men homosexual, but its liberal adherents foist the behavior upon society, and are therefore complicit in furthering the deviancy.
The sinister promotion of homosexual black males and subsequent persecution of all who fight this travesty is a continuation of that hatefulness spawned in the days of Jim Crow. It bears noting that in conjunction with the emasculating of black males is the mass destruction of black children in the womb, as orchestrated by the white-dominated Planned Parenthood and other pro-abortion entities. This, in addition to the liberal Left's systematic destruction of the black family, reveals a pattern that all but the thoroughly duped should be able to see.
Oh, and I noticed Sylvia's use of "lustful" and "eroticism" in her post. Maybe she should stop wring this crap and start writing gay fan fiction.

Angry Mob Drags Out and Brutally Beat 4 Gay Men in Nigeria
Lord, Nigeria!
The Huntress brought this to my attention today. In Abuja (the capital of Nigeria), a mob attacked gay men by dragging out of their homes and beating them with clubs and sticks riddled with nails. Reports claim that during these brutal attacks, the mob were shouting they were “cleansing the community” of gays.
It was a mob of 50 men who attacked 4 gay men. 50 vs 4, really? One of the victims was almost beaten to death! And if you're thinking, 'What did the Cops do?' Well, I tell you, NOTHING! Gay activists said that the cops continued to beat and verbally abuse the victims!
What we're hearing and seeing in Nigeria is a horrifying reaction to the anti-gay law that was recently signed. Our fam in Nigeria are truly living in fear. Could you imagine living in your home, wondering if a mad mob will bust in a kill you? Now imagine feeling like this every day, every night; not able to relax or feel safe.
Hope the UN or someone step in and do something about this.

Interesting Quote: Drew-Shane Daniels
As a practicing black, gay male myself, I can easily become exhausted by the number of LGBTQ members who are celebrated that don't look like me. There comes a feeling that I don't exist. I'm not slim, blonde or have blue eyes. To see Sam, a 6-foot-2, 260-pound black man, share his story only hits closer to home because there is a spark of familiarity. I enjoy seeing black, gay men in headlines outside of "The Real Housewives of Atlanta" sound bites because it is refreshing. Far too often stories are told through the lens of white gay men, so equating this lifestyle to a race isn't a reach.

An Article tries to Discuss the Reasons behind the High HIV rates in Black Gay Men
In an interesting piece in HIVPLUS magazine, we gain a bit more info on the high HIV infections in the Black gay community.
I have pulled on some key points to note:
- In 30 years, 70 percent of 20-year-old black gay men will have HIV. This was presented by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
- Studies find that black gay men aren’t any more likely to engage in risky sexual behavior than their white peers.
- The White House’s top researcher on this topic, Greg Millett, senior policy adviser in the Office of National AIDS Policy, analyzed seven studies from Canada, 13 from the U.K., and 174 from the U.S., and found that black men who have sex with men (MSM) were no more likely than other gay or bisexual men to have unprotected sex.
- And despite societal problems, such as the fact that black men face higher rates of unemployment than other races or are less likely to graduate from high school, the analysis points out that black gay men are actually 40 percent more likely to do simple protective things like wear a condom during sex.
- The Lancet’s analysis points out that young black gay men also have a 65 percent greater chance of becoming sexually active early in life than their white peers, and they have an 82 percent greater risk of childhood sexual abuse.
It's an interesting read, please check it out.

Black Media Scoop's post about a Wife catching her Down Low Husband is a HOAX!
Black Media Scoop posted this story about a week ago.
Supposedly, a woman caught her husband in the bed with another man. Oh my, call Jesus! But here's the thing... This is a HOAX!
This foolishness is an example of poo-putt reporting and thanks to some digging, I learned that this story is almost a year old!
Go here, see for yourself here (thanks to Scott Wooledge)
Gossip blogs like Black Media Scoop and Media Take Out consistently put out this malarkey to stir up Down Low drama amongst the Black gay community. They rarely do any research and usually very wrong with their info. But every time they get a chance, they put out some faux DL story. In fact, most of their gay content is negative towards us. It feels that they love to stip up the pot, causing a lot of mess and misunderstandings.
I am sick of it!
We need to call out this mess and hopefully shut these 4th Grade Gossip sites down!

John Legend, Can you can take the "DL" Rapper out of your New HBO Drama Project? I don't want to see him!
I just read on Deadline, that John Legend is developing a show called "Down Lo", here's the premise:
In a competitive situation, HBO has bought for development Down Lo, a drama project from singer-songwriter John Legend and producer-director Tony Krantz. Set in Miami’s South Beach, the edgy ensemble drama explores the intersection of three worlds — the party town’s popular music scene and sports and fashion circles. It deals with fame and secrets, with the stories told from multiple points of view. One of them will be that of a gay rapper living on the down low as homosexuality is still not readily accepted in the hip-hop community.Oh so original, once again we are given the 'Gay Mammy Role' as being DL. Seriously, I'm sick of anything that speaks on the DL drama. Come on now! Can a gay brother get a non DL Black gay character? Please?
This is why I am so over anything that pushes the DL storyline. It's a lazy go-to idea, like casting Blondes as the damsel in distress and the Black or Latino male as a crimelord or gangbanger. And it perpetuate the notion that the DL life is so fascinating.
Trust me, it's not.
I can not understand why anyone would continue to think a DL storyline is interesting. Hell, why would you want to be reminded of a dark time of your life?
Yes, please give me more stories about the days when I hated myself.
If this character turns out to be the stereotypical Black Gay character, then you can keep that character and this show!
Ain't nobody got time for that!

Morehouse College Introduces their First Black LGBT History Course
With the hard work of Morehouse's Dr. Michael Hodge, SafeSpace’s Special Project and Events Coordinator Marcus Lee and Yale University professor Dr. Jafari S. Allen, Morehouse College will have their first LGBT History Course!
Morehouse's local paper reports:
The course is expected to outline various key concepts in Black feminism and critical cultural theory and methodology. Described as “an interdisciplinary survey of Black lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer (LGBTQ) culture and politics” in the course’s syllabus, the class will serve as an in-depth look into critical, social and cultural theory that will vastly benefit the Morehouse community. The course will be offered for credit Spring 2013.
SafeSpace’s Public Relations Director Ja’Mal Lewis believes that this course will finally shine light on the LGBT figures that have been overlooked throughout history.
“Many influential LGBT leaders have gone unrecorded due to their sexuality, and they made many of the movements that changed and shaped our history,” Lewis said.
