Queerty Uses a Tacky, Insensitive Title on a Tyler Clementi post
Yes, this is real. That title is completely tacky and insensitive! I can't believe Queerty thought this was cute. Tyler died because of foolishness like this. Who approved this title? And, why is this still up? I hoped that Queerty was getting it together, but now... I guess, they are back to mess on top of mess.
I wish more blogs covered this, it's important to address this kind of foolishness.
Also, check out the responses to the post:
This is truly sad.
Thanks to CroWolf for covering this first

Ding Dong! The Race-baiting, Assumption making, Haterade drinking, Obama blasting Queerty site is Dead!
Well after 5 years of race bating, misinformation, hateration, bitterness, Obama Drama and unsaturated foolishness, Queerty closes up shop.
The reasons are not so clear, but rumor has it that it was getting too costly to run (again, RUMOR). This site had many up and downs over the years, but I guess I was surprise to hear about its demise.
When I started blogging, I read Queerty regularly. I gave them credit for many pieces that I used for this blog. But once President Obama was elected, Queerty changed; or maybe I noticed the foolishness a lot more in their post.
I was shocked by the mess it stirred up on a regular basis. The tag lines sometimes didn't match the blog post and it seemed they were always looking for a fight. They would use bad assumptions to prove their ill-formed thoughts or post the wrong information. I found myself addressing their mess more than thanking them. In fact, you can see my history with Queerty through my blog posts.
Then, the readers or better yet, the ones who left comments. I saw some the most racist, vile and hateful stuff from the gay community. After awhile, I stop reading it all together. It felt like they were willing to go overboard to draw attention and it worked, but for the wrong reasons.
Queerty will be something we won't forget, but glad to see it go. The site was losing itself in its on hype and doing more harm than good. Deuces!

My thoughts on Judge Walker and the possible Outcome

Queerty asked if Judge Walker allows Prop 8 to stand, is he a gay traitor?
I read this post with a grain of salt. However, if he does uphold Prop 8, will we turn against the judge?
I won't cast him out to the wolves, I will believe there was a strong reason for his decision. But if we perceive Judge Walker as a traitor, are we allowing our biases to get in the way?
I got a feeling that we are not seeing this clearly. Yes, I will be hurt, but I will not consider him as a traitor to the LGBT community.
Judge Walker would be actually doing his job. As a judge, he is supposed to be impartial, objective and respect the law that's before him. That's what we want right? Someone who actually does their job. If we start hating on him, our actions will speak more about us than anything he decides.
We are very passionate about this ruling, but we can't let biases get the best of us. We can't.
I would love to hear your views on this.

Dumb Article of the Day: Queerty's How Come Obama Isn't Inviting Gay-Hating Cops and Their Victims to the White House?

Just when I thought Queerty was getting their act together, they do this:
Barack Obama ate his own words responding to the arrest of Harvard professor Henry Louis Gates Jr. when he said the police acted "stupidly" in arrested the prof. He's since apologized for his language, because it looks bad if the White House calls local police names. So to make things all warm and fuzzy, Obama invited Gatse and James Crowley, the Cambridge police sergeant who arrested him, to the White House to make nice. All over what can be boiled down to a scuffle between a cop and a man who forced his way into his own home. So how come Obama doesn't open the White House's doors to another cop-v-civilian encounter — that's actually rooted in bias?Gates himself has eschewed any notion that his arrest was based in racial profiling; he says he's glad the cops were called! Crowley, meanwhile, teaches a police class on race. So from all corners of this event, it appears the whole white v. black issue is, mostly, moot.
But ya know where claims of police arrests based on bias are not dying down? In the case of the Stonewall-style raid of Ft. Worth bar Rainbow Lounge in June. While Gates' incident resulted in handcuffs and a media storm, the Rainbow Lounge "incident" left Chad Gibson in the hospital with a bleeding brain and weeks of recovery ahead of him. Not exactly apples to apples, is it?
So how come the president isn't opening his doors to Gibson and the Ft. Worth Police (and Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission) so they can have a make-nice pow-wow? Even after both the cops and the TABC admitted wrongdoing?
Perhaps because Gibson isn't an Ivy League crony of Obama's. Perhaps because Texas is too far off Obama's radar. Or perhaps because that would mean Obama would have to involve himself in those gay issues again.
Please, this too far out there. They should remember that Obama misspoke and he wanted to apologize to the cops. Obama had nothing to do with the Texas situation, so it would be silly to invite them to the White House.
Also if that was the case, then he would need to invite, the cops who racially profile, use the wrong procedures, arrest the wrong people, use police brutality, launder, sleep with hookers as a way to get out of jail free and other crazy reasons I don't feel like listing.
Queerty, we know you are trying to bring readers to your site, but there has to be a better way than this.

Foolish Article of the Day: Queerty's Is Queerty Obama's Most Critical Gay Blog?

I love blogging, especially when I have stuff like this to write about. This is the best laugh I had all day.
Is Queerty Obama's Most Critical Gay Blog?
Important only if you pay attention to what the blogs have to say.
We're just pleased Mediaite remembered this headline: "THAT’S IT: Obama Has Spat and Shit In the Faces of Gay America."
Now, it's not that we're critical of the sitting president. We just have zero tolerance policy when it comes to lying to gay Americans and refusing to support full equality. Oh, that's the same thing?
Lying? What did Obama lie about? Oh Queerty, you are like the town drunk of blogs. But let's talk about your lying, your poorly researched articles, race bating, misspellings, misconceptions, stupidity, childish ways and there's more but I'll stop there.
You are not the most critical, due to your horrible talking points. You are the most ridic gay blog, to give you credit for being critical is too much.
Critical is being able to articulate your views and have something to back it up. You are nowhere near that format.
So please wake up from your fever dream...it looks like you wet your bed.

Dumb Article of the Day: Queerty's: THAT'S IT: Obama Has Spat and Shit In the Faces of Gay America
Clueless. (Actually, that's what I was thinking about this article)That's the only explanation for why President Obama not only actively promotes the Defense of Marriage Act, but defends its implementation at all costs. With utter stupidity, and amidst calls from groups like the ACLU and HRC to immediately reverse course, the Obama administration claimed it's only sticking to standard operating procedure. He should be ashamed.
The White House today responded to criticism: "As it generally does with existing statutes, the Justice Department is defending the law on the books in court. The President has said he wants to see a legislative repeal of the Defense of Marriage Act because it prevents LGBT couples from being granted equal rights and benefits. However, until Congress passes legislation repealing the law, the administration will continue to defend the statute when it is challenged in the justice system."
Except it's really this simple: How can Obama tell us he's for the repeal of DOMA, but then have his charges defend that same policy?
If he really wants a legislative repeal of the law, why is he wasting government resources — literally, the tax dollars of gay and straight Americans — continuing to lobby the courts to follow DOMA? The president has not made a single tangible action to have DOMA repealed. The Democratic-controlled Congress, which Obama says is responsible for DOMA's deletion, is doing nothing on the matter.
Before President Bill Clinton signed DOMA into law and while Congress listened to testimony from opponents and supporters, the Clinton White House released a statement defending the bill. It was a terrible, heart-wrenching kick in the teeth, and it should have ashamed Clinton.
President Obama just joined that list of unremarkable presidents lobbying for discrimination.
The only reason we can think of that Obama would have the Department of Justice lobby on behalf of DOMA in Smelt v. United States is to keep the law's fate out of the hands of the court system. That might be a worthwhile strategy. But the White House is not telling us about that plan, if it even exists. And if that's their ploy, they should share it with the public. And yet, if that scenario were really true, and Obama really was serious about repealing DOMA via Congress, wouldn't he be simultaneously lobbying Congress to, uh, do that? No wonder WhiteHouse.gov no longer even acknowledges Obama's supposed support for DOMA's repeal.
The man is a liar, and his actions are despicable. He's risked every ounce of credibility among gay Americans. The man who championed hope has given us every reason to lose it.
Queerty, Queerty, Queerty...This is ridic, for real. They have to follow the law until it's repeal, changed or thrown out. I'm sorry y'all, but seriously, this is politics and law! Are y'all that stupid? Yes, you are. And did you hear Obama say he's supporting DOMA. No!! What's wrong with you people? Goddess, I mean you would think this is Days of Future Past and we are hunted down, with mutant collars and the letter M branded on our eyes.
People, we need to be real and deal with reality. Obama has not abandon us or turn his back on us. It's completely silly to believe so, and while most folks continue to get drunk on the haterade, they refuse to look at what we really have going for us. To be honest, we are not really, really suffering. We need to put on the big boy panties and work with the system. This negativity is killing our spirits and in time we will be too bitter and ungrateful to see the changes.
And another thing...Why are these writers and some of us so...I don't know, demanding. Yes, I want these issues changed, but still, I know IT WILL TAKE TIME AND WORK.

Dumb Article of Day: Queerty's Look, Obama Gave Gay Hate a Shout Out!

Whoever is allowing these articles to surface, should be ashamed of themselves.
Here's dumb article number 2
Sure, the president only had a one-word mention for the gays during his speech at the Buchenwald Concentration Camp in Germany, but it's more than he had to say about us while speaking to the Middle East in Cairo.
The choice quote: "Also to this day, there are those who perpetuate every form of intolerance — racism, anti-Semitism, homophobia, xenophobia, sexism, and more — hatred that degrades its victims and diminishes us all." (Full transcript here.)
Indeed, Western Europe is a much more friendly environment for addressing homophobia than the Middle East, where it's not worth mentioning because it doesn't exist.
Queerty folks, either get therapy, get laid or get lost. The Obama hate party is so over.

Dumb Article of the Day: Queerty's "Barack Obama Had 5772 Words for the Middle East. None of Them About Gays"

I know I run out of things to talk about, but this is too much.
Queerty is a gay blog that usually showcase hot boys, jokes and gay stuff. But recently, they have had way too much Haterade and lost their God damned minds. They usually attack Obama with the worst articles ever written. Hell, you would think they were a part of NOM or Web Net Daily, with the mess they spit.
But today's article took the cake. It's called, Barack Obama Had 5772 Words for the Middle East. None of Them About Gays. For some reason, Queerty believed that Obama should have presented a full LGBT agenda to the Muslim world. Here's the article:
We've already placed out bet on whether Barack Obama will address gay rights during his July visit to Ghana, his first return to the continent since moving in to the White House. (Our guess: Hellz no.) But early this morning the president was a little farther north, in Cairo, Egypt, where he addressed the Muslim community in what some are calling a welcome olive branch to the Islamic community. (Others criticize him for, uh, forgetting about 9/11.) And while we won't pretend gay Americans are single-issue citizens, we wouldn't be doing our job if we didn't point out that, once again, Obama had nothing to say about GLBTs.
As the tweets and Facebook blasts went out, and Obama mentioned the word "rights" more than a dozen times — the right for American Muslim girls to wear a hijab, the right for Palestinians and Israelis to live without fear and enjoy their own states, "the rights of minorities" — there were noticeable absences in Obama's speech.
Perhaps because they're assumed to be non-issues in the Middle East, but neither abortion nor rights for gays and transgender citizens were mentioned. This should be no surprise; while Sec. of State Hillary Clinton continues to call for an end to gay persecution, the White House is all but silent on the institutionalized assault on gays in Iraq, and elsewhere.
Obama urged the Muslim community to embrace democracy (and not only when it was convenient), to give permit Palestine to form its own true nation, and to treat women as equals.
But in a region of 400 million people, where gay rights aren't even an after-thought, Obama did nothing to provide a voice to the millions of GLBTs persecuted and living in hiding and shame. Yes, Obama tailored his message for the community he was speaking to. But he missed an enormous opportunity to include queer people in his call for global human rights.
And he did it on purpose.
Really? Really? Queerty, get it together. This is foolish. He is trying to truly bring peace in the Middle East and all Queerty can do is whine about him not mentioning gay rights. Obama is trying to shut down their beef with us. I'm not so sure that a speech on gay rights would help the matter at all.
But maybe I'm missing something here. If I am, just let me know.

Prop 8 is In...What's Next?

So Prop 8 is upheld. Now it's time to move forward.
During our rallies, I hope we think about how to change this mess of a proposition. I know folks are angry, but let's not run around in circles. As we prepare for a new battle, there are some things we should think about.
- We should come together in love and hope. No finger pointing or blaming this person or this race. We need to stand together as a powerful force.
- We need to have goals and agendas in order. Let's not make it up as we go.
- Oh, this is not President Obama's fault, Queerty. But I'm sure y'all will blame him for this.
- Make sure that we are inviting EVERYBODY to the table when discussing next steps. We lost because the No on Prop 8 team was basically a clique, we can't do that again. We need all of our grassroot folks involved in this process.
- We need to reach out to our allies and bring them aboard.
- We need to go beyond Beverly Hills, WeHo and other gay friendly spots. We need to go to Crenshaw, Watts, East LA and other places where we are not as visible. If we going to change minds, we have to look beyond our safe neighborhoods.
- Raise money and use that money wisely.
- Support politicians that truly support us.
- Challenge yourself and get involved. Grassroot groups don't appear out of thin air, they take hard working people who believe and strive to achieve.
- Be prepared for religious groups and their dark tactics, we can't let them have the upper hand.
- Keep our eyes on the prize.

Why I'm sticking with Obama through the Gay Rights Drama
So in the news, we are hearing about the pressure Obama getting for gay equality and rights. And if you go over to Queerty, you get the daily (sometimes twice a day) hate-o-drama about Obama’s lack of support.
However, I’m not going to bash him; there’s no need. Unlike some, I think he’s doing a great job trying to balance out the mess from the not-so-messy-but-dusty matters in our country. I understand that changing DADT is not going to happen soon. I understand that he must have allies on both sides to make his argument strong and effective. Without that support, it can be an uphill battle.
Plus, he has put some big initiatives forward. Those initiatives (the budget, the war(s), policy changes and etc.) have to be successful. If they are, more folks will come to his side and if not, they will somewhat distance themselves from him. Obama needs the superpower to make things happen. If his main issues fail, it will be hard for him to push gay rights through the loop.
Also, we have to remember that everybody ain’t feeling the gay love, so Obama needs that support to make it happen. Something else we need to keep in mind is the game of politics. Politics are no joke; this is not a game of UNO. Now, to some of our family members, politics is who gets into the VIP spot.
Naw honey, it’s bigger than that, much bigger.
Politics is a dirt bottom fight; it’s a Beatrix Kiddo vs Vernita Green type of fight. Obama has to wheel and deal in order get certain ideas through Congress. You see how difficult it is to get budget stuff passed, and that’s without the Repubs’ vote. Then add in the fact not all Dems are gay supporters.
Basically it’s going to take some time.
Instead of acting like Veruca Salt about this, we should be thankful that our president cares about us. Instead of complaining that he’s silent about the marriage equality victories, be glad he isn’t trying to create some busted amendment to ban gay marriage. Be happy that he will try to change DADT, be happy that he has appointed gay members in fantastic positions and at least he recognizes gay families. Neither Bush nor Clinton did that much for us.
I’m tired of these complaints about there’s no gays in his cabinet or there’s no gays in the Supreme Court. When did we become so myopic? To be real, the same argument could come from any person of color or gender. Hell, to be really honest I’m surprised that I haven’t heard my people screaming for more representation.
In all, I want the hateration to cease. It’s getting us nowhere and it’s causing a divide within our community. President Obama is not Kal-El, but he’s doing the best he can with what he has in front of him. I have faith in him and I know he will come through. It will take some time, but it will happen. Could we say that a few years ago? Hell no! So we need to rally around our President, call him out, but be understanding, patient and realistic. He got enough haters attacking him, let’s not be in that same crowd.

Just how much Obama-Favored Haterade is Queerty Drinking?

Before I begin, I want to say that I enjoy reading Queerty. It’s entertaining, informative, it’s gay. But recently the folks over there are treating Obama like he gave them herpes or something.
Yesterday, they presented 2 articles on how Obama don’t really give a crap about us. One article focused on how late he was on the Hate Crimes bill and the other touches on his lack of support for the gay community.
Here's some examples
- He's said he's too busy with the economy to get around to marriage equality. He's let his secretary of defense tell the world that Don't Ask Don't Tell might get repealed, which is the same as saying it might not. For all his talk about health care, he's done nothing to let gay people share benefits with their same-sex partners. There are no protections in place to keep us from getting fired from our jobs for being gay, even though we're losing paychecks like every other American. Immigrants are being deported because they cannot legally marry their same-sex partners.
- Wow! Thank you, Mr. President! But, uh, aren't you weighing in on this a little bit late? Why has it taken you until the day before Congress will go to a vote to make a statement about the Local Law Enforcement Hate Crimes Prevention Act? And your support for it? And that you want Congress to pass it? Sure, Obama has had a busy first 100 days, but he's also got a giant team of gophers at his disposal, ready and willing to deliver statements — however meaningful — of support or disgust. And yet this is the first time since Obama was elected that he's made any (public) effort to get on Congress' back to get this bill passed. (We asked the White House's director of specialty media Shin Inouye to confirm this was the first time Obama specifically addressed the matter. Inouye tells Queerty "I'd have to check on specifics." We'll let you know what we hear.)
These articles are somewhat disingenuous and similar to how a jealous ex would sound towards the new bf. Seriously, the writer acts as if our issues outweigh every Gott-Damn-Thing that’s happening in our country!
Now, I would completely understand if the country was on track and nothing was going on. However, that’s not the case. We are hanging by our Lee press-on nails, hoping that we can avoid another economic fallout or the crazy ass North Korea’s test rockets. Then we have the war and looming doom that it creates. But somewhere down the line, somebody in Queerty has this Magneto-ish belief that we must come first.
He just got into the White House! He just got the ball rolling on the economy! Hell, what good are any of our liberties if our country is on life support! Until these major issues are in a safe zone, we will just have to wait. We have time, we ain’t going anywhere. It’s only been 4 frakking months! Just 4! Good things are happening to the gay community and our time is coming.
Maybe I'm too optimistic or way off, but I'm also realistic. There are deals and people to win over in order to pass bills and overturn stuff. There is a game to be played in politics and some things outweigh others. Is it fair? No, but at least we have someone who's playing in our best interest. I hope the writer(s) at Queerty understands that.
This is not the time to act like entitled arrogant kids. We need to give Obama more time before we draw up some busted analysis. After 4 years, if we have not made any progress then we need to develop a plan. I realize that folks are angry, but to blindly run amok with this Obama-don't- care really does nothing for anyone.

Let's Hear it for the (Average) Boy!

In Queerty today, they introduce a new piece that showcases the average joe.
Take a look:
While it may sometimes seem like Queerty only cares about politicians, studs and celebrities (in that order), nothing could be further from the truth. In fact, we strive to include all members of the gay community, regardless of how ripped their abs are or elite their contacts. To that end, this is Average 'Mo, where we introduce you to regular gays from around the world to discover what life is like in their neck of the woods.
Okay, so they want us to see the 'Average' Mo. But seriously what is 'average'?
From their description, the average gay is abs-less, not a hunk and do not have elite contacts. Please, that's not average...that's reality. So I guess West Hollywood is where the non-average live?
Maybe I took the article wrong, but it felt like this piece is saying we're average because we don't fit that stereotype or look.
If that's the case, then I think the majority of gay men are average. Many of us don't prescribe to those attributes or trappings, and that's fine. Where I grew up and went to college, gays were all over the map in style and demeanor. However, I wouldn't call them average.
I guess I'm lost in the definition of average and why it's being treated as a rare bird. I think that an average guy who is gay, but don't spike his hair of go to the White Party is just a regular gay guy. I feel this 'average' thing is suggesting that we all do the same thing and those who don't are the wallflowers.
Again, maybe I'm missing the point, so please, if any y'all check out Queerty's article let me know what y'all think.

Following Queerty's lead...6 More Shows LOGO should Produce

Queerty has given me an idea. Today in their post, they talked about 3 shows Logo should produce. Like them, I agree that their programming needs a good stirring in the creative pot.
So I'm going to continue their idea and pitch some shows as well.
- A "Gay" View. I would love to see or be a part of a LGBT version of The View. It would be cute to see a diverse crew of LGBT people talking about our world and everything else around it.
- A good, good drama show like Six Feet Under and NOTHING like Queer as Folk. Ex: After a rude awakening, a nightlife impresario decides to change his life and start a LGBT home for troubled youth.
- A supernatural show that does not make a joke out the genre, Joss Whedon-like writer would be great. Ex: A young gay outsider falls for another outsider who happens to be half-demon.
- Continue the Can't Get a Date series. It's good to see other LGBT folks dealing with dating issues.
- Have a Midnight Special variety hour. There are a lot of LGBT musical artists. It would be nice to see them perform.
- Create a series called Everyday, that highlight the great things LGBT folks are doing. We don't see that enough in the media.
The Stuff

- Wonder Man
- Viktor is a small town southern boy living in Los Angeles. You can find him on Twitter, writing about pop culture, politics, and comics. He’s the creator of the graphic novel StrangeLore and currently getting back into screenwriting.
