FEMA needs reorganization

Well, just when we thought they were cleaning up their act, FEMA's done it again. These meatballs stored $85 million worth of household items in warehouses. But instead of giving the supplies to the hurricane victims, the messoholics declared them surplus and gave them all away to federal agencies and 16 states in February.

So prisons, colleges, volunteer fire departments and other groups got the stuff, but not the victims. According to reports, there seemed to be miscommunication between FEMA and these agencies. Some them received the items, but was told there was no need for them. So without following up, double checking, or thinking clearly, they sent it off the other agencies. Who never requested any items at all!

Then there were no communication with the nonprofit organizations helping the victims. In fact, some of them didn't know they options or any rights to the supplies. This is horrible and poor planning. I've worked with students with better sense than this.

This is sad and a sore spot for the victims of Katrina. How are they going to move on, when foolishiness like this keeps them down?
