Friend: Are you proud to be an American?
ME: Sure, when we are not: obsessed with the rich, exploiting the poor, caring more about fictional teen-aged characters than education, voting for the next singing sensation who will lose their contact in year, hating people because we can't be them, challenging our belief system, believing in ghetto fabulous mess, willing to be ignorant people, lost in Britney, Paris, and Chase's lives that we ignore our own, and confusing religion with law.
Friend: I just asked a simple question.
ME: And I gave you a simple answer.
