So it really is true. I guess if it's done right, it could be fun. Maybe The Munsters will be next. There has to be some songs for that family to sing!
Hollywood and Broadway have run out of original creative ideas. Everything is now a rehash of something that's already been done before. It truly is sad.
Actually, it's to be based on the original cartoon strip of The Adams Family and not the television show. The makers have been pretty adamant that it is not going to have any elements from the show like the theme song. We'll see.
One of the problems is that it cost a huge grip of money to produce a broadway show, and the risk on earning back that investment are pretty tight. Therefore, producers are turning to more mainstream or rehashed ideas that have a higher chance of being a success. Hence, the pending spectacle "Spiderman: The Musical (with music by Bono of U2).
This actually looks interesting to me. If what Junior said is correct, and the concept is based on the original comic strip, it could be a bit of a scandal.
Junior is correct. The show is based on the original 150 comic panels created by Charles Addams. And while I understand the feeling that "these days, there are no new ideas," it's not just these days.
Madonna has made a huge career out of stealing other people's ideas and morphing them into something else. Hell, Beyonce's "Single Ladies" video is a direct homage to Gwen Verdon doing Bob Fosse's choreography to the song, "Mexican Breakfast."
Broadway is just doing what they've always done. Sondheim's "Sweeney Todd" was inspired by the play of the same name, and his "A Little Night Music" was inspired by the film, "Smiles of a Summer Night."
"Everything old is new again." :)
Unless of course the show sucks. Then, it's not new, it's just sucky.
I'll let you know. I might be seeing the show tonight.

I see Cherry Jones as Maude, and I'd pay to see it!

V, this is sad. I knew I'd see something like this eventually, I was hoping we'd be advanced in years by the time it happened.

I don't know if I told you, but you know Lurch in that photo. He's Josh's ex-boyfriend also from Ithaca College.

Plus I'm love me some Bebe and Nathan.
