Well, I knew this would happen, but I'm not worried. This could be good actually.
Producer Tony Scott confirmed to Collider.com that he and brother Ridley Scott are developing a prequel film to Ridley's original Alien movie, with Carl Rinsch directing.
The news confirms the rumor first reported by Bloody-Disgusting that an Alien remake was in the works for 20th Century Fox.
"Carl Rinsch is going to do the prequel to Alien," Scott told Collider while promoting The Taking of Pelham 123. "He's one of our directors at our company."
Tony Scott added: "I'm excited because Ridley created the original, and Carl Rinsch is one of the family."
Scott said that he hopes to get the movie before cameras ""hopefully [by] the end of the year" for a summer 2011 release.
I enjoy these movies. I pray to Athena, this new version won't crap all over the classic tales.

So for the most part the movies are great! About half and half for me. A prequel could be neat we'd get teh explanation for the giant in the pilot seat and all that stuff in the first movie. Could be cool!! :)

Oh my goodness...
The only Alien film that I hated was part 4. It was a popcorn movie, no more no less.
Anyway, I hope this film goes indepth about the space jockeys (e.g. don't tell it from a human perspective)and how the xenomorphs came into existence.
Oh and I actually loved the AVP movies too...Especially REQUIEM. The best part is when the blonde girl died...That was like the best death scene EVER...lol.
