Doctor Who's New Companion

Meet Karen Gillan, she's Doctor Who's sidekick

"I am absolutely over the moon at being chosen to play the Doctor's new companion. - I just can't wait to get started,".

We can't either.

Do you like the new Doctor Who chosen? I think it's soinning really, really young. I liked the idea of older, wise and sexy men and women in these roles. Now it's starting to look like the WB or FOX bought the rights to it. I don't want Dr.Who the Hills. (Really, I'm also just gonna miss the current Dr. Who sooo much!) Doesn't mean I won't watch it. We'll see how it goes! Have you watched the two new specials they've done that have aired across the pond but not here yet?

Is she replacing Catherine Tate? Will she get to do an episode or two with David Tennant, or Will she be coming along after Matt takes over the Dr's role? I wonder.

mtykwan, I'm not feeling the new DW, but I guess will see. And I only saw the Christmas special...it was cute

Wonder Man, i was really excited at the black male option they had. That would have been SWEET!!! But the fan boys cried foul and seemed to nix that idea. ::SIGH:: So funny that an alien character is still held back by our racial issues, ah well.

So you haven't seen the dessert episode. I didn't realize the "The New Dr. Who" episode was a Christmas special. The desert one is up online. Thank goodness!! Otherwise I would be waiting like the rest of our American friends forever to see it.

The same with the Number 1 Ladies Detective Agency, with Jill Scott. Great first season, let's hope it gets to keep coming back!! Have you seen that?

mytkwan, I did a blurb on my blog about the potential black doctor before they announced Tenant's replacement. I'm not all that impressed with the new Doctor Who serials. It's missing something the old ones had.

I like they brought some things up to modern times, but it moves too fast, the story lines wrap up so quickly and there's so much death. Old Who had 12 episode story arcs, kept the death to a minimum, and capitalized on the Doctor's intelligence to get out of situations.

New Who? Eccleston was arrogant and came off way to morally superior. I love David Tennant though. I will him when he leaves the role.

As for the No 1 Ladies Detective Agency...I love that show. Do either of you have any ideal when, if, it's coming back for a second season?
