Question of the Day: LGBT Progressive Edition

Why don't we have solid LGBT leadership?

And I mean from within.

I have no idea... but living in the Middle East takes us back decades from where you guys are. However I did just see Milk on the shelves in the supermarket so maybe we are getting somewhere... or the censors just missed it ;0)

I've always thought it was because we come from every demographic, race and religion. It's the same reason why the whole "world" doesn't have just a few people to look to... We're just all too different. Although we have a common denominator, it isn't always considered the major part of who we are.

Unfortunately, I don't think we'll ever have solid leadership... The fight will be won when we change people's hearts and minds from within our own families. More like a "grassroots" movement, so to speak.

Diversity, though wonderful in many ways V, means we are very different from each other in many ways too. One of the toughest things for human beings to do, is to accept those differences, and look past them to the parts of our souls that are alike. Some of us can do it, but most people get stuck in the boxes and labels we create as we age.

If we survive long enough as a species, the whole world will learn to unify itself; it will have to. But until then we will have to settle for pulling together the patchwork quilt of humanity where we can, repairing it when it is ripped, and making new pieces when one panel is destroyed. It is a hard truth to deal with, but better than having no quilt at all.
