The Kids are Alright... Maybe.

The CPAC was very interesting this year with the presence of GOProud and minor teabagger action. But the telling part of the conference was the high number of young participants and their views about Gay marriage and abortion.

See here:
Their core values are not all about opposite marriage and abortion, but the reducing of government in our daily lives seems to be main priority.

And here...

Stopping Gay marriage is very low on the list. Hell, protecting gun rights rank higher than our ability to wed.

This is very telling about the future of the GOP. Maybe, just maybe this is the direction they will take? I'm not sure, but these results are helpful in understanding the important issues to come.

very telling, indeed. I've just confirmed that I'm far from being a young Republican.

I don't trust it. "Reducing Govt spending" is code for blocking all Obama spending/ and no Universal Healthcare.

And that is only their leading cause for now... because everyone is taking their queue from the Tea Baggers Movement.

Thirdly, the "gun freedom" thing isn't highly ranked, b/c it's illogical (Obama hasn't made any attacks on Gun Ownership).

I think what differs this year's CPAC from previous is rather than being a Republican jerk-off fest there was a larger libertarian presence. Which is not very much like your average Republican voter.

So it means that we can look at these numbers with some enthusiasm, but shouldn't make our selves believe that this means that the GOP is now becoming gay-friendly.
