President Obama plans to Repeal DOMA

Obama and Ricky

During last night's fundraising event at the Rubin Museum of Art in New York City, President Obama announced he will repeal DOMA in his second term.

According to CNN, the president truly believes that marriage equality makes stronger families. President Obama said:
"I want everyone treated fairly in this country. We have never gone wrong when we've extended rights and responsibilities to everybody. That doesn't weaken families, that strengthens families."
Ricky Martin was the host of this fundraiser and was in awe of the President's words and stance.
"We admire his courage, like the courage he showed last week in affirming his belief in marriage equality. That is the kind of courage we expect from our president and that is why we support him."
In step with his campaign promises, the president plans take down one of the most divisive and damning laws toward the gay community.

If he's able to repeal DOMA he will have done more for the LGBT community than all politicians combined to date in my opinion.

Despite his nay-sayers... I think his campaign messaging from 2008 "Hope and Change" have been spot on.
