If you take a Porn twink to Dinner, You lose your Job

Months ago Minn. State Sen. Paul Koering made headlines by taking a porn star to dinner. Well, that didn't sit well with many folks, gay and straight alike.

He was warned that it may cost him his seat... And it did, Paul Gazelka beat him in the primaries.
Gazelka defeated Koering with 56.8 percent to 43.2 percent of the vote.
The race between Gazelka, a former state representative, and Koering, R-Fort Ripley, was notable for its focus on Koering’s personal life, and for efforts by state Republicans — who endorsed Gazelka — to investigate Koering’s past.

Koering, Minnesota’s only openly gay Republican senator, made headlines in June by dining with a gay adult-film actor. Reports of the date surfaced on Twitter and made national news.

Social issues were a factor in the race, as Gazelka made his opposition to same-sex marriage and benefits a leading issue.

Koering blasted the Minnesota Republican Party last month for what he called its effort to “dig up dirt.” A party researcher wrote sheriffs in Morrison and Crow Wing counties, asking if they had law-enforcement records on Koering.

Well Paul, I guess you can't have your cake and eat it too.

First of all "V" you have a great blog. Very informative. It really keeps me informed on news important to the gay community.

Now about State Sen. Koering. Gay Republicans never cease to amaze me.

They are like a person who keeps a poisonous snake a a pet and then act surprised when they are bitten. The GOP is an anti-gay party. That is why you find so many closeted Republicans getting involved in scandals. They are getting rid of more moderate elements and those who don't fit in order to get back to their roots.

So despite all George Bush's statements that the GOP is a "Big Tent" party they really don't want gay folks like Koering. Guess he found out the hard way.

The GOP, which is still smarting from Obama's win, is also becoming increasingly right wing

Perhaps he was being a humanitarian. Perhaps the twink was hungry. Twinks are notoriously thin. You never know... some of them depend on the kindness of strangers.

Then Mr. Koering talks about how he's leaving the Republican party 'cause they've gone over the cliff and is supporting the Democrat in that race.

I'm sorry but if I was a openly gay senator I would have an endless supply of twink/porn stars at my disposal. I would prorbably be a little more dl about but I wouldnt be anti gay marriage also. I feel kind of bad for the dude, it was just dinner damn its not like he hired a prostitute. Oh well, he needs to get it together anyway with his confused ass.

Maybe now that he doesn't have to worry about facing the voters he can eat those cakes?
