Good for him, he's gay, but let's be clear that he knew he was gay, or at the very least supsected, or questioned his orientation, when he positioned himself as the poster child of right-wing anti-gay bigotry.

I hope the Queens in Chelsea (where he just bought a loft) treat him like the Troll that he is.

He was not just ignorant, but downright hateful in what he was doing. I don't give a shit if it was self-loathing or not, it didn't just affect him.
He's come out when it is doubtful he has any power in the GOP - and even if they did, they will probably shun him enough that he won't have any.ever.again.
