Aaaargghh!! That's a tough one. I'm gonna go with The Search For The Tinker Chief by Brid Mahon, although it could easily be a Roald Dahl...
I have a couple that I can't choose between:
1) A Taxi Dog Christmas (I think this is what caused me to fall in love with the city)
2) Any of the Raggedy Ann Books
3) The Berenstain Bears
A Taxi Dog Christmas. Just a freakin adorable book. I would read throughout the year.

Alexander And The Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day
"Where the sidewalk ends" by Shel Silverstein sticks out to me. It always comes to mind when I think of books I read as a boy.
