Watchmen did Good

Watchmen, Alan Moore's masterpiece, made $55.7 million this weekend. The flick played in 3,611 theaters including in 124 IMAX theaters, but it came in lower than expected.

They hoped the movie would best the $70.9 million opening of Zack Snyder's previous film, 300.

However these are two different types of stories. You don't have to think in 300, and in Watchmen, you need to dig deep...it's Alan Moore story for Hera's sake.

Still, Watchmen has the best opening of the year and one of the best showings ever for an R-rated film.

It may catch on later

Havent seen the movie yet, but I did hear of some anti-gay imagery during the opening credits; I'm surprised that no one's mentioned yet it.

Okay, I'll admit that I hated Watchmen. Yeah, I did love that nude Dr. Manhattan...
Jeffrey Dean Morgan is always a bonus(love him)...
Not to mention Ms. Jupiter was a bad ass (loved the hair and those boots!)
However, I wasn't feelin the movie very much. I kept dozing off every ten minutes.
They did stay true to the novelization (with a few minor tweeks); however, I guess I didn't appreciate the film translation...

Then again the only movie I am literally waiting on pins and needles for is Terminator Salvation.

NG, one of the characters was a lesbian and she was murdered.

Yes I know; and in the opening credits, she and her partner are shown in a bed, blood spattered everywhere and with the words, "lesbian whores" written on a wall.

Realizing that the opening montage was to reflect their troubled history, one still has to ask if there was any basis for it.

Whoops!

Forget to add that I'm also realizing that I may be stepping into a heaping hypocritical pile of NIMBY.

Nonetheless, I go back to my earlier concern.

The characters were killed for being gay. Considering the time period being portrayed, why is this something to denote as being "anti-gay" or unneeded. If that characters fall wasn't depicted, some would have a problem that the gay content of Watchmen was wiped out and consider that to be "anti-gay".

I think they showed what gay content they could or figured the public would be ok with.(Which is of course lesbianisim.) Their are other gay characters in the Watchmen that are only hinted at in the movie.
