Question of the Day: Catholic Church Edition

Most of you know of the mess Pope Benedict XVI has caused for his negligence.

My question is... What should happen to Pope Benedict XVI?

I heard on NPR that he actually wasn't aware of the severity of these cases until he was put in charge of sexual harassment matters about 10, 15 years ago, and then he became much more staunch and hardened about trying to fight the sexual abuse itself. Not to say he should be completely exempt from question, but I think that 25 years ago he probably was less aware of how big the problem was and maybe thought it was more frivolous than anything.

Plus he's been trying to redeem himself with harsher restrictions and a zero-tolerance policy since he became pope. Once again, at least that's what I heard on NPR.

I would hope he has the stones to step down. But then I realize his replacement may well be as neck deep in the issue as he is.

This is a systemic problem in the church.

He won't, but he ought to go.
And the church should come clean about their heinous mishandling of this whole mess, instead of trying to circle the wagons and lay blame at the feet of anyone and everyone else.

Just leave him there so he can resume his work in progress for the downfall of the most corrupted religion of the planet.
