Interesting Quote: Ron Paul

"The question has been raised about whether or not our president is a socialist. I am sure there are some people here who believe it. But in the technical sense, in the economic definition of a what a socialist is, no, he's not a socialist. He's a corporatist. And unfortunately we have corporatists inside the Republican party and that means you take care of corporations and corporations take over and run the country."

Ron telling the Southern Republican Leadership Conference that Obama's not a socialist.

I am surprised. Ron Paul has always been at the very least honest and frank with people, which is why until before 2008 he existed on the margins of the Republican Party.

I would point out, V, that it was never about whether or not Obama was actually a socialist. Socialist, communist, Marxist are all just bad words in American politics. Conservative leaders use them disparagingly to stir up their base.

There are socialist institutions in our country that Tea Partiers love, like Social Security, Unemployment Benefits, etc; so there is clearly a disconnect between what socialism actually is and why Americans politically think it is, which is what Republicans love to exploit.
