ET breaks news that actress Dixie Carter, best known for her role as Julia Sugarbaker on the hit sitcom "Designing Women," has died. She was 70 years old."This has been a terrible blow to our family," her husband Hal Holbrook tells ET. "We would appreciate everyone understanding that this is a private family tragedy. Thank you."

I love you Dixie. She brought feminine strength, intellect, and compassion to the small screen.
She was amazing to watch. I'm grateful that there is a recorded history not only of her acting abilities, but the messages that the character of Julia Sugarbaker gave to this country.
